Melting Her Cold Heart
Chapter 91. A Mild Concussion

Chapter 91: 91. A Mild Concussion

Fear gripped her as she tried her best to stop the car, but it just kept on moving. Spinning the steering to avoid a collision with the cars at the front, it swerved to the side and then collided with a street light post and before she knew it, the airbags were out, which prevented more damage from being done.

Her head spun as the adrenalin subsided. Her vision became blurry, but she forced her to remain open. The side of her head hurt as it had briefly come in contact with the window glass. There was even a small crack where she had hit her head. A warm liquid trickled down the side of her face but she was too afraid to find out what it was.Looking at her side, she realized Alex was in the same state as she was but she saw his lips moving, probably talking to her but she barely heard what he said.

"Keep your eyes open, Sara," she managed to hear these words, but that was a difficult task to do when they were already closing on their own.

She felt his hand on her own, and that gave her a sense of comfort, and she opened her mouth to speak, but all she could hear was the pounding of her own heart. Her hands trembled, and her vision got worse. Her eyes drooped close.

"Sara... looke at me," she heard him call her name one last time before she lost consciousness, unable to hear whatever followed it.

Alex quickly opened the door and rushed to her side. Taking the airbag out of the ways. He lifted her into his hands. "You’ll be fine, okay," he whispered in desperation, hugging her close and firmly but not enough to hurt. He turned around and found Ian and Sadie approaching them. Their car parked just a few steps away.

"Get to the car and start the engine," he barked, and Ian immediately ran back to the car.

The scene had attracted attention, and the pedestrians and other drivers had stopped as they witnessed the accident happen before their eyes. It happened so quickly that no one had the time to react. The heavy dent on the head of the car told nust how severe the collision must have been. But what surprised them more was how the lamp post fell, crushing the cat right after the people had switched cars. Had they left a second later, and they would in a more dangerous situation, and survival would have been a miracle.

Alex cradled Sara in his arms, disregarding his own wounded and bleeding head. All of his focus was on the woman in his hands. Until she was safe and confirmed by the doctor, he didn’t care about a minor wound. He had had worse, and those did not claim his life.

When the pole fell on. The car, they all saw it, but their heart nearly leaped up to their throats. Just imagining what would have happened had they not left when they did was enough to send chills down their spines.

"I have called a hospital closest to us. They should be waiting for us now," Sadie said, her words dispelling the silence but did nothing to ease the tension. Alex gave her a nod, and Ian sped up the car in the direction of the hospital.

"She will be fine with a little more rest, Mr Legend," the attending doctor said after examining Sara. "She suffered from a mild concussion, but there is nothing to worry about," he said, but Alex didn’t budge from where he sat.

"You should have your injuries treated too, or it might get infected," the doctor said, but he only received a glare from Alex. The doctor swallowed, not what else he should say to the brooding man. The dark aura reeking off him was suffocating him, and the nurses around, which was, in turn, making their job a lot harder.

"Her doctor will be here soon, I will receive treatment after he gets here and examines her," Alex finally spoke. He could rest until he got the reassurance that he needed

The doctor tried not to allow his contort due to his words. He was a doctor proud of his achievement, but because he was not the patient’s personal doctor, his expertise and qualifications were being questioned.

"It is alright that you get her doctor, Mr Legend, but it is dangerous to leave your injuries like..." The sound of the door being pushed open had him trailing off.

"Dr Walter is here, President," Ian said as he stepped aside for Dr Walter to enter.

The older doctor looked at the young man who had just walked in. He would have been offended had he not quickly recognized him. Though young, Dr Walter’s achievements spoke volumes of his capabilities. His reputation precedes him.

"I have heard what happened, Mr Legend, but is it alright to keep yourself like...this?" Dr Walter asked as he gazed and ran over Alex, taking his unkempt appearance. "Get yourself cleaned up. I will check on Mrs Legend. The nurses are waiting outside," he advised. "You don’t want her to wake up and find you in such a state, do you?"

Alex was still reluctant to leave her, but he couldn’t ignore the advice of two doctors on something he also knew he should do. "Alright," he agreed and stood up. "I want your report by the time I get back, Walter."

Dr Walter nodded at him.

Once Alex was gone, he turned his attention to the other person in the room. "I am sorry about that, Dr. Brooks. He can be paranoid sometimes," he said, trying to ease up the tension in the room.

"It’s alright. It shows how much he cares for his wife," Dr Brooks said, waving his hand dismissively.

"What is your diagnosis?" Dr. Walter asked as he went ahead to examine Sara himself. He took the report, Dr. Brooks gave to him and studied it.

"A mild concussion. She fainted because of this and the shock received from the accident," Dr Brooks replied. "A little bed rest should have her back on her feet in no time."

"But he isn’t satisfied with that until she wakes up," Dr Walter said knowingly. "I will explain it to him."
