Melting Her Cold Heart -
Chapter 82. She Is Not Simple
Chapter 82: 82. She Is Not Simple
Inside Sean and Selena’s bedroom, Selena was all smiles while Sean stood in a frozen stupor. In his hand was a medical report that Slelena had just handed him.
It had been a busy day. From the announcement Williams made in the morning to many other problems that he couldn’t ignore at the company. He didn’t have much, but he made sure to rush back home once it was all taken care of wanting to hear what Selena had to say. But never in his wildest dreams had he expected something like this.
Selena wasn’t worried, and she had told him that he had no cause for worry, but he couldn’t just not worry because she said so, and now that he had the medical report in his hands, Sean couldn’t believe his eyes.
He slowly took his eyes off the piece of paper and looked at his wife, who was still smiling at him. "Is this true? What the report says, is it true?" He couldn’t help but seek confirmation from her.
"Yes," Selena nodded vigorously, and he took slow and measured steps towards her.
"You are pregnant?" He asked as if it wasn’t clear enough. Once she nodded again, he beamed and enveloped her in the warmest embrace yet. "Thank you," he kissed her temple and then her head, and he placed his chin on the crown of her head. "This...Selena," Sean could form proper words any more, overwhelmed with emotions.
Selena wasn’t any different. She lacked the words to say to him, and all she could do to show her emotions was smile and hold him tight. Only she knew how badly her childlessness had affected her. She couldn’t ever leave the house without feeling the burden and the mocking stares of others, especially if Lily was in any way associated with them. Not only was it the outside that hurt her, but even within the home, Lily made her feel how insufficient and incapable she was.
Seeing other women with their children, there was always this emptiness that she felt. The thoughts of leaving Sean had crossed her mind many times, but she still stood beside him. He didn’t complain about her inability to conceive after so many years, and she knew he had his own share of heartache when it came to this matter, but he didn’t complain. He never blamed her, and that was more than enough to keep her with him.
"I love you, Selena," she heard him whisper, and she nodded. She already knew that. He didn’t have to say it. She was just glad she was able to conceive and birth a child for him.
The moment was directed when a knock came from the door, but they didn’t pull apart. Sean replied to whoever was knowing while still holding her as affectionately as in the beginning.
"Mr Crawfird has asked for everyone to come down for dinner, Young Master. We have a guest tonight," Mr North’s voice came through, and he hummed in acknowledgment.
"We’ll be there," he said, and Mr. North retreated. "Ready?" He asked, and she nodded.
"Yeah," she said, pulling away from his embrace. "Father will be pleased to hear this."

Meanwhile, in Dominic’s bedroom, tension filled the room as the heated conversation came to a halt.
Olivia had been on and on about how miserable her life had become, while Lily threw as many tantrums as her daughter. Adam and Dominic just went silent hearing the two women complain and reprimand them.
"Now look at what is happening, that old geezer Nicholss legend has chosen today of all days to visit. Doesn’t that look too fishy to you?" Lily uttered, pacing back and forth in the room, increasing the tension that already filled the room.
"What you are doing is not helping, Lily. Please stop and settle down," Dominic tried to calm her down. She was even more frantic than the children, but he could understand why. She reacted strongly to everything right from a young age. She has just refused to change that.
"But..."
"Calm down, Mum. You are not the only one who is angry about this whole situation. We are all affected. Complaining to her wouldn’t change that," Adam said. He was ready to leave, but he felt Dominic still had something to discuss with him, so he was waiting.
"Find a way to get Alex to return everything to you then," she said even though she knew just how impossible it was to do that. Once Alex had something in his possession, it was easier to tell a rock to get up and walk than to take what was his.
"We all know Uncle Alex isn’t that simple to coax," Olivia said with a pout. As much as she didn’t like their situation, she couldn’t help being envious and wished Alex had been her Dorothea rather than her uncle. Had Adam been a little bit as capable as he was, then she wouldn’t be made fond of at school. But it also meant she could try to gain his favor. If she could do that, then everything would be fine. Alex is, after all, her uncle.
"There is someone who can convince him," Adam suddenly said, and everyone looked at him silently, waiting for him to continue with expectant eyes. "He has a woman with him. She lives with him, too. I think he listens to her. She might be the only person capable of convincing otherwise."
"Alexander has a woman with him?" Dominic was shocked. Since when has the celibat Alexander been interested in women enough to keep one? And do they even live together?
"I didn’t get the chance to see because she had some... issues. But Elder Legend called her his granddaughter-in-law. Uncle Alex didn’t correct and rather accepted it. But I doubt she is a simple person," Adam said as she thought back to the conversation he had overheard between Alex and Nicholas that day.
"What do you mean not simple?" Lily found her voice. It didn’t matter who she was as long as she was within the cities of Amberfell. No one was higher than the Legends and the Crawfords, and these two families weren’t hers.
"It seems she is connected with the Gildmans and the Scotts. There was a confrontation between..." he paused when he felt the atmosphere in the room change.
"The who...?" Lily asked as shock filled her eyes. She should have known that not everyone would catch the annoying man’s attention.
"Are you certain?" Dominic asked.
Before Adam could reply, a knock on the door interrupted him, and Mr. North came on and invited them down to dinner.
"We will continue this conversation later," Dominic said, and everyone nodded their heads in a silent agreement.
