Melting Her Cold Heart
Chapter 81. Fall For Him

Chapter 81: 81. Fall For Him

Sara returned to Opulence Oaks, but she couldn’t find Alex anywhere, and she felt her heart cave in. If she had doubted before that he was avoiding her, she was certain now. He didn’t even want to see her or spend a second in the same space as her.

"The Young Master received a call from his Father. He is currently at the Crawfords. He wanted me to let you know," Mrsel Lawson told her. It did help ease her worry a bit, but she still couldn’t completely shake it off.

Alex could have called or texted her. It wasn’t that hard to pass a message across to her. He didn’t need to have the housekeeper do it.

"Thank you, Mrs Lawson," she said as she made her way into the bedroom. Just as she opened the door, she paused. Should she move to another room? But Alex had already moved even though his clothes were all still inside here. Or was he really out of the house last night?

Not sure what to do, she walked inside. She would think it over during a nice relaxing bath.

As she bathes, he mind wanders back to the playful night they had. She had only planned to tease him, but it almost spiraled out of control. It was only because of his self-control and the awareness that she hadn’t fully recovered that she had managed to escape that.

She then thought of how peaceful her sleep was when he was by her side, holding her possessively and last night when she spent it alone. The difference couldn’t be clearer.

Not only could she not sleep on time last night, but even the little sleep she managed to grasp onto was plagued with nightmares.

"Why exactly am I still confused?" she asked herself. It wasn’t just her body that reacted to him. Her mind thought of him every time, and even now that she finally got the space she wanted she still thinks of him. Even more now than ever before.

Not only was his presence reassuring, but it gave her a sense of safety and comfort, the kind that no one else could offer.

"I guess he was right after all, I did fall for him," Sara chuckled. "...and so soon too. I never thought I was that easy to crack until now," she muttered again. She just needs to talk to him. Maybe he would listen. He never chased her out. All he did was not engage her like always does. Everything will be fine once she talks to him. She thought. But there was still this lingering fear inside of her, the remnants of the many heartbreak she had experienced, forcing her to second guess her actions and decisions.

But she was still determined to talk to him. Whatever happens after that, she would figure it out. If Alex hurt her like the others, then it only meant she was never meant to find happiness with men.

Alex walked through the door of the Crawford residence. The hushed voices of the servants reached his ears, but he could hardly make out what they were saying.

Suddenly, they all went silent. Looking ahead, he saw My North approaching, and the mystery behind the silence was immediately solved.

"Welcome home, Young Master," Mr North said with a warm smile. "Your father and grandfather have been expecting you."

"Thank you, Mr North," Alex said as she followed him to the study.

Williams was still inside, but Nicholas was nowhere in sight.

"Father," he walked inside, and Qilliams raised his head to meet his son’s gaze. He smiled when he saw him, also standing and approaching him. Alex could see how happy he was and could only assume that whatever reason brought Nicholas here was not a bad one. "You seem quite happy," he pointed out.

"Indeed I am," Willliams agreed. "Everything is falling into place now," he placed a hand on Alex’s shoulders. "I am happy, Son."

Alex stared at his father, and he nodded with a faint smile. "Where is Grandfather?" He asked. He didn’t want to think about the heavy atmosphere downstairs and ruin Williams’ good mood. It was every day that Williams smiled so brightly, but this was the second day in a row that he had seen that smile, and it meant a lot to him.

"He is in one of the guest rooms. He appeared quite exhausted, so I had a place prepared for him to rest," Williams replied, and what surprised Alex was the fact that Nicjolas actually agreed to stay.

The Nicholas that he knew was a stubborn man. No matter how exhausted he might have been, he would have still stubbornly insisted on getting home before he would lie down and let his guard down.

"Do you mind telling me what happened?" Alex asked. This was probably the best way to understand the reason for the drastic change in his grandfather.

"Nicholas and I have come to a consensus, Kayden. There is nothing to worry about. We are not children to not know what to do and need guidance," Willaims said as he led the way out of the study and headed for the room Nicholas was in.

"That didn’t seem to be the case until now," Alex said, and Williams chuckled.

"You are probably right," he agreed. He knocked softly on the door before opening it even though there was no response from within. He walked, and Alex followed closely behind him.

Nicholas opened his eyes, and they immediately found Alex standing at the foot of the bed looking back at him. His already wrinkled face curled up a bit further as a smile appeared on his face.

After the haunting memories of the past coupled with the exhaustion that had now taken a toll on him, seeing his grandson was like a breath of fresh air.

"Alexander..." he reached out his hand to him, and Alex went around the bed to stand at his side.

"Grandfather..." Alex held his hand, and the man smiled, closing his eyes in contentment.
