Melting Her Cold Heart
Chapter 78. Julliette 2

Chapter 78: 78. Julliette 2

After his discharge from the hospital, Williams was advised to have a nurse nearby, and he didn’t hesitate to pick out Julliette to be his personal nurse. His request came as a surprise for everyone, including the dean and Julliette herself, but in the end, she agreed.

The man was still struggling to cope after losing his wife to cancer.

Their relationship progressed, moving g from professional to a more personal level. Williams children had showed their dislike in the woman whom their father had chosen to be with but after two years passed and Williams didn’t seem to show any improvement of overcoming the loss of Beca, they stopped complaining and allowed the man to be with the one person who kept him sane.

At the same time, Nicholas was notpl3ased with his daughter’s choice. He tried as much as possible to prevent their union but in the end, he was still a father who wished for his child’s happiness ans he has seen how happy she was with a man who was as old as her father.

Several months later, Nicholas was leading Julliette down the isles, where Willaims was waiting ahead along with the priest.

"I want you to know something," Nicholas said in a whisper. His hand was placed on to of the one she wrapped around his other arm. "If I suspect that you are being mistreated by, however insignificant it may be to you, I will come and take you away, and you will divorce him," he had said.

"We had an agreement, Father," Julliette said. Although her face was covered in a veil, he knew she was probably pouting. "If anything goes wrong, I’ll return home. I made a promise, so I’ll keep it," she squeezed his arm gently, and he hummed in satisfaction.

"I am glad you still remember, Julliettte. But just in case, I will be watching very closely." He said before the reach where Willams stood.

Nicholas stared at Williams, whike everyone was expecting him to place Juliette’s hand on Nicholas’ open palm. He just stared at him. Murmurs started to rise from every corner of the church as people started coming up with different assumptions as it best suits them.

"Father," Julliette pinched him a little. "You promised me," she said, glaring at him even though he couldn’t see it.

It was inky after she spoke that Nicholas reluctantly placed Juliette’s hand on Williams’. "If you ever hurt her, I’ll make you regret, Crawford," Nicjolas had moved closer to Williams and whispered just beside his ear. He stepped back immediately and turned around even before Williams could respond.

Many thought there was an animosity between the two or while others just said tye marriage was just another business alliance between the two families, especially since the man was much older and also a widower. But Juliette knew otherwise.

The marriage concluded, and just like that, a year passed, and Julliette conceived. Everything went on smoothly at first, but as soon as Julliette entered her second trimester, Beca’s family that had been silent all along appeared. Nit happy at how Williams had disrespected their daughter and sister. Not onky did he remarry, he mocked Beca’s by marrying a woman young enough to be his daughter.

Learning of Juliette’s pregnancy, they became even unreasonable.

"How could you disrespect Beca like this?" The current head of the Smiths, Beca’s older brother inquired. His gaze sharp on Williams. Under normal circumstances, he wouldn’t dare to speak so unfiltered to Williams, but this was about Beca, his sister, and they knew he wouldn’t act rashly towards them for her sake. "You didn’t hesitate to pick a second woman, easily forgetting the years Beca has stood by your side."

Williams clenched his fists to rein in his anger. He tried to be understanding with them because they were his late wife’s family, but they were forgetting one thing, Julliette was his wife too. His current wife. If he was to protect anyone, it would be her. The woman who was still alive and in his arms.

"Daniel," Williams spoke after listening to their frantic disagreement about his decision to remarry. "My decision to marry Julliette has nothing to do with either of you," his words came out harsh, and his gaze carried the same intensity. "Beca was my wife. I loved her, respected her, and to this day, I still do. For her sake, I will ignore your disrespect today. But do not forget that as I was possessive about Beca, I am the same about Julliette. I will not allow anyone to disrespect my wife. Not even my children have that right."

The Smiths exchanged glances with each other. They didn’t need to be told twice knowing jusy how possessive Williams could be. He didn’t hesitate in the past whenever there was anything involving Beca. They had thought that because of that, they could just bring out that possessive side in him again and have him get rid of the child he calls a wife.

"We meant no disrespect, Williams. We are just concerned for the sake of our sister children. What if this woman... your wife does something to them? Women can get out of control after birthing a child for man and–"

"Julliette is not what you have painted her to be," Williams was no fool, but yes, he knows just how a person can change once they feel their standing and position is secured. But he knew Julliette had no such desires. People think she was a gold digger, but she came from a noble family herself. She required nothing from him except his affection and attention, and he could give t9 her always without a care and worries over what others would think. Others who k ew he background think it was all for business, but they, too, were wrong.

"My children will not be treated unfairly. Nit by my wife or myself. They remain my children," Williams stated.

The Smiths nodded in agreement, but deep down, they were not pleased. After the left tye Crawfords, they decided to take matter into their own hands.

"If that woman births a girl child, we can let her and her child live. But if she bears and boy..." Daniel tye family head said, leaving the last part of it as everyine already knew what was next.

"I will keep a close watch on her," something he volunteered.

Williams increased the security around Juliette, making it nearly impossible for anyone to get close without being discovered.

Once she gave birth to her son, it couldn’t be keot hidden and the Smiths were not pleased trier many failed attempts to kill her and the child but failed every time and before they knew it, eight years have passed since the child was born but they never gave up. Planning an assassination that finally succeeded in claiming the mothers life, but before the child could die, help arrived.

Nicholas, who had received a distressed signal from his daughter, arrived with his people to find his daughter at her last moment clinging hopelessly to her child.

The police along with Willaims, arrived shortly after they as Julliette was being taken by the ambulance. She died on the way to the hospital.

Nicholas then took the child, Kayden, in his custody. The child didn’t speak. He didn’t even cry like most children would. But his lifeless eyes told that he was more affected than anyone. The once vibrant and lively child turned cold, distant, speaking less and less every day. Leaving no trace of chatter child, he was when his mother was alive

Once the funeral was concluded, Nicholas and Williams, as if having a silent agreement, went after the Smiths. It was the first and last time that the two men worked together, and it was to destroy a family.

The Smiths were completely annihilated, their name wiped out from the high society and were never able to rise again. Whenever they tried to, either Nicholas would press them down or Williams himself. Just like that, they became a family barely able to feed themselves.

"We have arrived Master," Albert said as he opened the door and said. They stopped driving a while ago, but Nicholas was till stick on his thoughts and failed to notice.

"Mhm," he hummed but didn’t leave the car. "I would like to go to the Crawfords residence," he looked at the driver who was ready to drive but Alber to differently.

"You need your rest, Sire. It has been a stressful journey and..."

"I will be fine, Albert. Take me to Williams," he ordered.
