"What are you doing here?" Adam asked with panicked in his voice. He glanced behind him at the door and even went to make sure it was locked before he took large strides towards her. "You know you shouldn’t be here right now," he chided, but there was no force to his voice, almost as if he was pleading with her.
"I just wanted to make sure you were okay, nothing more," Maleries said and wrapped her hand around his neck as she hugged him.
Adam stiffened at first, but under the warmth of her body and her care for him, he relaxed, wrapping his hand around her smaller body. "I am fine, Mal," he whispered, and he heard hum. "I am sorry things turned out this way."
She didn’t say anything and just continued hugging him.
"You can’t stay here any longer, Mal," he tried to pull away, but she didn’t let him. "My grandfather wouldn’t allow you to keep working Herr while he is..." he trailed off upon hearing a little sobs and felt a warm liquid fall on his shoulder where she buried her face."Mal..." he panicked, peeling her hands off his neck to have a proper look at her.
"It is all my fault," she said as more tears left her eyes, dripping down like water droplets. "You wouldn’t have had to go through all of this if it hadn’t been for me."
Adam cupped her face asnoulled her closer. He planted a kiss on her forehead and before snaking his hands around her again. "This is not your fault, Mal. Trust me when I say so."
If there was anyone to blame, that would be Sara. Had she not broken off their engagement, then none of this would have happened. Everything started right from that fateful moment when she walked out on him, leaving her ring behind.
"This is not your fault," he caressed her back to soothe her, but she only sobbed harder, her body trembling more. "It’s okay, Mal," it was ridiculous how he should be the one being comforted, but the roles seemed to have been reversed.

Back to Sara’s apartment, the door swung open, and a man walked in. A black shirt hung lazily on his shoulder, completely being neglected by the one who should be wearing it. His dark brown hair was tied to a low ponytail at the back of his head.
Jessa and Bernice were already seated inside. Their heads snapping g towards the door as the heavy boots of the man marched towards them. He went straight to Jessa.
"You really did call him," Bernice said nit sounding as pleased. She looked at and glared whil he gave her an indifferent stare.
"Are you hurt?" He asked, stopping on front of Jessa. He stared at her face to make sure that she was truly fine even tugbunf her chestnut hair behind her ear to get a better view.
"I am fine, Jax," Jessa replied but he didn’t seem satisfied as he placed his fingers under her chin and his thumb just below her lower lip, tilting her face to either side until he was certain. She didn’t appear to be in any pain so he relaxed and sat down beside her. "Satisfied now?" She asked with a little glare and he nodded.
"I am," he said and Bernice rolled her eyes. "So why did you call if nothing happened? It’s unlikely you. Even though I would personally prefer you call everyday," he said and Jessa sighed. She didn’t have time for this.
"Before you go flirting, can we hear her out now?" Bernice said. Her eyes still glaring at Jaxon. "You can start by telling g us why we are here instead if your pmVe or somewhere else. Whose place is this even?"
Jaxon went silent as he too was interested in the reason she had called. He was happy that she was not hurt but thay didn’t mean something didn’t happen to have caused her to call them—to call him.
"This is Sara’s place and she is the reason i have called you all," Jessa said ans they looked around fir Sara herself but nit even the woman’s shadow was in sight. "She isn’t here," knowing the thoughts behind the curious eyes, Jessa answer the unspoken words.
"Someone tried to get her killed. They met her in this apartment," she revealed the reason why she called them and they both frowned at the information. Sara didn’t have a complicated background, at least not one they knew of.
"Who?" Bernice asked. She remember her last conversation with Jessa where Mr Legend was courting her friend, could ut be related to him?
"The Goldmans. I don’t know if it is Mrs Goldman or someone else in the family but they have to pay," Jessa clenched her fsists as she spoke through gritted teeth.Had Alex not been there for her, Jessa was certain thay Sara would have died last night.
"Why would the Goldmans want to kill her? She’s done nothing wrong to them," Bernice said very puzzled by the whole situation.
"Sara found out she is Trevor Goldman’s daughter. His only child," she added si they could piece the rest on their own. "The family don’t want her so they tried to eliminate her."
Bernice was stunned silent. She stared at Jessa blinking as her mind ran wild trying g to process everything. First, it was Mr Legend chasing the woman and now she is a Goldman by blood?
"Her background is more complicated than we thought," Jax commented with a nod if his head now understanding g what was going on. "I will look into it for you, my sweet," he pucked a few strands if her hair twirled it around his finger. "But you’ll have to do something for me on return," he flash her a subjective smirk.
"Nitbing ever goes for free from, Huh?" Bernice clicked her tongue, but Jax shamelessly nodded in acceptance.
"Fine, whatever you want. I can’t do it alone," Jessa aggressive and ge beamed.
"It’s a deal then. I’ll have your friend protected while looking into her murder case. Where is she bow?" He asked.
"Opulent Oaks. Mr Legend has her," he replied and he chuckled.
"Things are getting much more interesting about her." He said nodding to himslef.
"I’ll do what I can. I actually like Sara the most amongst you other friends," Bernice said and Jesaa smiled in gratitude.
"Thanks."
