Melting Her Cold Heart
Chapter 49. The Crawford No One Knows

Chapter 49: 49. The Crawford No One Knows

Jessa was conflicted. She knew without a doubt that if she told Bernice that the Legends were now involved, the girl would be scared half to death. Her warning about the Legends still lingered fresh in her mind.

Sighing like a tired old lady, she made the call to Bernice. For now, it was best to follow them instructions. Once she speaks with Sara later. Then they’ll know what to do.

"Already here to thank me?" Bernice’s happy tone came through, and Jessa smiled. She was also pleased with amount of damaged caused to Afam especially with her last post which would have angered Jessa because Bernice did that without telling her but with the sudden call from the Legends, she was happy it was done earlier.

"Yes, thank you for that. I loved it," Bernice beamed in along with Jessa, but that was short-lived. "We have a problem, Bern," her tone took a sudden seriousness that caught Nernive off guard, and she sat up.

"What problem? Don’t tell me you fear the Crawfords now?" Bernice said with a frown of her own.

"It’s not about Adam but someone else...." Bernice interrupted her mid-sentence.

"But it’s still a Crawfird, right?" Bernice sound annoyed, and Jessa couldn’t help it. All the Crawfirds were practically the sane in their eyes, but now, that had taken a sudden turn that they never expected.

"Yes ans no. Bern, do you remember the man I asked you about before? Alexander Legend?" Jessa began and heard Bernic hum. "Well... he is the last Crawford nobody knows, and he wants the post taken down," she said, and silence fell over the call.

"Bern...? Are you still there?" Jessa asked, pulling the phone off her ear and staring at the name still displayed on the screen.

"I am," came Bernice’s wary voice. She sounded shocked, and Jessa couldn’t blame her. She was no different in the call with Alexander’s secretary. "Alright, I will take it down," she said, and Jessa nodded but heard Bernice while over the phone.

"Curse you, Crawfords," she murmured a lot more curse that Jessa tuned out and eventually disconnected the call.

Thinking about the man, Jessa thought about Sara and wondered if she knew this hidden detail about her new boss/lover. With that, she decided to call her best friend but after a bath and a nice breakfast. Their phone call might last longer than normal, and she didn’t want to laugh at Sara on an empty stomach.

At the Crawford Residence, Williams sighed, feeling his headache grow. He called his assistant to handle the situation, knowing Adam would fail without a doubt, and his time was up. Now, no one can blame him for disciplining a child who is misbehaving. Not after giving him many chances, and he wasted them all.

"Good morning, sir," the man sounded surprised to have received this call, but at the same time, there was something in his voice that said he had kinda expected it.

"David," Williams said, now feeling the weight of the problem on him. "I will need your help once again, my good friend."

David chuckled but spoke lighthearted, "I don’t think that would be necessary, sir. The problem has been solved already," he said, and Williams was taken aback.

"When? And by who?" he asked he wanted to believe Alex was responsible, but what if he was wrong and Adam truly found a way around it? Did he give the boy too little credit?

"Give me some time, and I’ll get back to you with the answers," the man called David said and Williams nodded, feeling the weight on his shoulders lessen.

"Alright then. I will be waiting for your call," he said, and David hummed his response. He wanted to call Alex to ask him.if he was responsible but he decided to wait for David to give him the answers. At least when he calls, he would be certain if what he was saying.

In no time, David called back and the answer was as he had expected. Skylar, his son’s secretary had it taken care of. In order words, his son had it taken care of.

"Thank you for your hard work," Williams said as a proud smile tugged at the corners of his lips. Kayden never disappoints him.

Adam parked his car at the garage of the residence. His only hope now was his grandfather who had all the resources to end what was happeing but rather chose to let him do it himself. He k ew ut was a chamce for him to prove himslef but Adam knew his own limitations more anyone else and also knew when to throw in the towel and seek help.

He was just about to exit the car when his phone rang and frowned, glaring at it like it was the casue of all his problems. Reaching for it, he took a moment to calm down when he saw the caller.

"Mal, now is not the right time for this..." he began but Malerie’s cheerful voice had him trailing off and the furrow between his brows deepening.

"Whatever you did worked, the postal and comments and everything, it’s all gone," she said and Adam blinked, taking a moment to process her words.

"It is all gone?" He reiterated and she hummed excitedly.

"Yep. Just now," she added and Adam found himself visibly relaxing. He hadn’t realized how tense he was until this very moment.

"Alright. Thanks for letting me know. I’ll talk to you later," he said, leaning further bacward into the seat. He had Alex to thank for it. Although the damage has been done, the scandalous articles were all gone now. Now, he just has to face his grandfather.

Malerie wanted tomprotest but she decided against it. "Okay, love ya," she said and even kissing him through the phone. Adam hummed and she giggled before disconnecting the call.

Adam stared at the house, his mind running with different thoughts and even at Sara whom he had suspected and even doubted Alex’ words as well. But now, he didn’t know what to believe.

"I’ll deal with Sara later," he said to himself. Her silence in all of if this was both puzzling and unsettling. It was as if she didn’t care even when her name was mentioned by some people. Even Valerie had gone out of her way to publicly accused her but she remained silent. Was she really so done with him?

Taking in a deep breath, he left the car as he proceeded inside to face his Grandfather. The time couldn’t be more perfect, right? He thought to himself.
