Melting Her Cold Heart
Chapter 146: You are family

Chapter 146: You are family

Not knowing how to react to her confidence like that, Alex just shook his head, and a doting smile appeared on his lips. "All right then, you go and ask him. I’ll even be your bodyguard."

Sara stared at him with raised brows.

"What? You don’t think I can be a good bodyguard?" He asked with a raised brow.

"Am I wrong?" Sara asked.

"For your information, Mrs Legend, I will make a fine bodyguard any time, any day," he said while drawing closer to her, which had her leaning back.

"All right then, Mr Legend, please guard me properly. I leave my safety to you," she said and stood up. "Come on now, chop chop," she paused and said when he remained seated, just staring at her.

"And here I thought you would prefer hearing it from your husband. I guess I was wrong. Anyway, I can’t force you to stay. So please, lead the way," he rose to his feet and followed while she just smiled at him and kept on walking ahead.

But before they could leave the room, Alex’s phone rang, and they both stopped. Alex was going to ignore it, but when he saw the name of the caller, he hesitated.

"Who is it? Did something go wrong?"Sara asked, walking back to his side. Although tempted to see who had called, she decided against doing so. He may allow her for whatever she wanted, but he was still a person who had the right to his own privacy.

"It’s Sean. Perhaps it’s already time for the meeting he talked about earlier," he said, and Sara nodded her head in understanding.

"Go on," she urged him, and he nodded before sliding his thumb on the recipe button before placing the cell phone on his ear. Sara waited while he made the call, taking her time to admire his handsome features with a contented smile and gaze.

"Something came up that held me back," Alex said and paused to hear what Sean had to say. After a few seconds, he spoke again "Alright. I’ll be there soon."

Nothing else was said, and the call was disconnected.

"Luke what you see?" He asked with mirth dancing in his eyes. Sara rolled her eyes at him and crossed her arms, but he only chuckled. When she took a step forward to leave, his arm circled her waist and pulled her back to himself. Her back against his chest. He leaned forward and whispered, "Don’t worry. You can gawk at me all you like. I won’t ever complain," he licked her ear slowly and lightly. It felt like a feather touch, but it did its job as she shuddered. "But let’s get this over with first. Once we get back home, you can look at me until you are satisfied. I can even strike a pose for you."

Sara felt heat rise up to her face, but she tried to pretend as though his words did not affect her the way he wanted them to even though he already knew that they did.

"Why would I bother looking at you when there are so many other men here?" She said with a roll. Turning to face him, she asked, "what happened? Why did Sean call...? Huh?" Sara paused at his darkened expression.

What happened to him?

"Look at other men?" He asked, and Sara could feel his arm around her waist become firmer. His eyes appeared deeper than ever.

Although she was confused at first, it soon clicked to her that he was jealous. A slow smile curled at the edges of her lips at the realization.

"Is that jealousy I smell? Hmm?" She teased. Poking his chest with her finger, she continued, "Yes, look at other men. Good-looking men are everywhere. Look at Dane, for example. He isn’t bad in the eyes."

Alex expression darkened further as soon as she mentioned that name. Why would she use him as an example when there were so many other men she could have chosen to use? But he was well aware of what game she was playing. It was surprising that she said she would go and look at other men, and he was indeed jealous, but he knew better than to let that get to him. She wanted to see his reaction, and for a brief moment, she got what she wanted.

"Fine then. You can go ahead," he said. He even gave a gentle pat on her head. "As I have said, you can do whatever you want. But don’t blame me if the said man disappears completely," he said with a smile so innocent that Sara couldn’t believe he would say something like with a smile so sweet.

"Sometimes I wonder if you a devil disguised as an angel. Who says stuff like that with a smile on their face?" Sara said.

"I never said I was an angel. You can consider me your guardian devil then. A very possessive one, too." Alex said she furrowed her brows, her eyes squinting at him. "As much as I trust you with all that I am, I distrust every other man around. So, I am very possessive. I can share anything but a woman."

"Was that supposed to comfort me?" Sara asked.

"Maybe," he replied with a shrug.

Sara signed, but she couldn’t deny the fuzzy feeling in her stomach. "Whatever. "What did Sean say? It sounded serious," she said, changing the conversation.

His expression immediately changed, turning serious, and she held her breath."They are all waiting for me. He wasn’t pleased to have been kept waiting again by me."

"I can’t blame him for being angry over that," Sarai said, and he raised a brow. "It has become a habitual behavior of yours. You should try to change it. They are still your family."

Alex looked at her for a brief moment before he nodded his head and hummed, "Mhm. I’ll try to be more punctual from now on."

"I’ll take your word for it," she said with a nod. At least he had agreed to try. It was better than nothing. "You can go. I will take care of the other matters..."

"We are going together. Kai will take care of matters related to the Goldmans. This is a family meeting, and you are family." He said, interrupting her.

Sara wanted to refuse, but he was right. But then again, she hasn’t met the said family as his wife. She had only known them as Adam’s fiance. "I doubt that they would..."

"You are also Mrs Crawford as much as you are Mrs Legend. There is nothing that they can do to change that fact. You are my wife. They’ll get used to it. But... if you are not comfortable coming to see them now, we can always meet them at a more convenient time. No pressure."

"Next time. For now, I’ll just try to find Asia," she said, and he nodded. But his gaze remained on her face. Her changing expression gave away all that she was thinking and as luck as he wanted to tell her she didn’t have to think that hard or worry so much about Adam and what the family would think, he also knew it was inevitable that thoughts like those would still linger.

"I’ll take you to Kai. He’ll help you find her sooner."

"Okay," she nodded.

Inside the president’s office, Sean and Dominic sat with their wives, Selena and Lily with them and the other person, Olivia who wished to be any where but hete also sat, her eyes and attention glued on her phone.

Why do we have to keep waiting for him every given time? He has no respect for his elders," Dominic said, his irritation and anger at the moment evident in his tone and expression.

"He had some matters to take care of. He will be here soon. Just wait a moment longer," Sean said in an attempt to keep his older brother calm.

Dominic only gave him a fleeting glance before he looked away. He took his phone out of his pocket. He focused on it instead.

"Is Sara coming along with him?" Selena asked, hoping to meet her new sister in law. She may be reserved, but it wouldn’t hurt to have someone to talk to once in a while. She never got along with Lily, so she was hoping to start things in the right direction with Sara.
