Melting Her Cold Heart -

Chapter 147: On the same page
Thick Silence engulfed the office the already silent office an and it became even more uncomfortable. Selena didn’t quite understand the sudden tenements despite knowing the reason behind it.
Was it so hard to accept Sara as a sister of the family and not as a daughter? She asks herself.
She turned to her husband, and her smiled softly at her.
"I don’t know. He didn’t say she is coming along with him," he replied. Selena pursed her lips butbshe nodded, accepting his reply, hoping she would come along with Alex.
"Why are you suddenly so interested in her, Selena?" Lily asked. Selena jad to force back and eyeroll at her obvious ploy. "Don’t you plan on bootlegging now?"
"I have no such intentions, Lily. I just thought it would be nice to have another sister to talk to since you are so difficult to get along with," Selena replied, and Lily was taken aback. Selena had never talked back at her like this before. "Did I say anything wrong? You are a very difficult person and very self-centered. You won’t even talk to me even if we’re the only ones in the room."
"Did you just..." Lily was dumbfounded. Selena never talked back. She just accepts everything with a smile and silence. So what changed. "I see now. Because of that child inside of you, you think you can..."
"Stop, Lily," Dominic intervened before she said something that implicate her should anything happen.
"I didn’t say anything..." Lily wanted to defend herself but received a hard glare from her husband.
"Why don’t we try to get along?" Sean said, his eyes on Lily. Now he understood why Sara and Alex didn’t like this woman. Her mouth was unfiltered, and she dies nit respect anyone at all. How could she bring up an unborn child just because Selena decided to defend herself today? Didn’t they know who she used to before she chose to remain silent?
"It’s fine, I apologize on her behalf," Dominic said, able to cool his temper. "Why is he nit here yet? We could be going ok with the necessary discussion if he would just a little earlier."
"Alex is not the only one missing here," Sean stated, and they looked at him in askance. "Adam is missing here, too. Shouldn’t you at least try to get him here before you point accusing fingers on Alex when your own son is missing her as well?"
"Adam was asked to be here as well...?" Lily couldn’t help but be surprised. Shouldn’t everyone be avoiding Adam? Weren’t they still angry with him?
"Why do you sound so surprise? He is still a Crawford, isn’t he?" Sean asked, and Dominic clicked his tongue. Lily blinked, looking between Sean and Selena.
Dominic decided to call Adam and ask where he was since everyone seemed to be expecting him to. Now what he said before madr him lol a hypocrite, calling his own brother disrespectful while his son was also still absent. His jaws clenched in anger, but what could he do about it? Nothing, and it annoyed him even more.
Once the call ernt through and Adam voice was heard, he calmed himself so he didn’t let out his anger.
"Why are you still absent when everyone is waiting for you?" Dominic asked, his tone cold, though his anger was well managed. He listened to what Adam was saying before he sighed. "Come here at once," he said before disconnecting the call.
"Are you satisfied?" He turned to Sean and asked.
"Very," she said with a nod and a soft smile.

Meanwhile, Alex had dropped off Sara, leaving her with Kai. He took out his phone and made a call. Once the call went through, he asked without any form of formality.
"When do you plan to do something about that woman, Grandfather?" There was frustration in his tone as he spoke, his large stride coming to a momentary halt.
A brief silence followed his question, and after a moment, Nicholas vouce came through.
"Did she do something again?" Nicholas asked, already knowing the woman he was talking about was.
"Yes, three of her people are here, and their target is Sara. I don’t mind doing something about myself if you are too busy to handle it," Alex said. Although he sounded cold and disrespectful, Nicholas laughed.
"I will take care of her, grandson. Focus on protecting my granddaughter. Trevor wants me to do it," Nicholas said, and Alex clicked his tongue. "She won’t be a problem to you soo. Just hold on a little longer."
"One week. That’s how long I am giving you. I’ll wait for one week. If nothing is done, then I’ll take care of Elena myself," Alex said, and Nicholas hummed in agreement.
"One week, you will have your results," Nicholas said.
When he heard that, Alex calmed down a bit. "How are you these days, Grandfather?"
"You little punk. Shoyldbt that have been the first thing you ask your grandfather?" Nicholas cussed. "I don’t even know what to do with you anymore.
"It appears I was overthinking. You sound just fine, so I have no reason to worry. I will see you later, Chairman Legend," Alex said, and before Nicholas could say anything, he disconnected the call. A small smile curved on his lips, but it only lasted for a moment as the next, his expression turned cold.
"Are you done eaves dropping? If you are, show yourself," he said coldly.
"I never intended to listen in on your conversation, Uncle," Adam stepped out from the corner he was hiding.
Alex looked at him, his expression relaxing a bit, but his cold stare remained locked him.
"I was just passing through and just happened to iverhear your conversation. I am sorry," Adam added.
"That’s fine," Alex said and turned around. At least he didn’t say much. All he did was give a name, and it was only the first name. Elena could be anyone. But even with that thought, he didn’t allow himself to relax and brush off Adam. Some people allow themselves to be perceived as weak but are truly hiding their true selves. Adam might just be one of those, and he wouldn’t take anyone, not a Crawford. Especially a child of Dominic as a weak rival.
"I suppose Uncle Sean called you too, huh?" Alex nodded, and he chuckled, already guessing what the discussion would be about. Since he and Alex were called, it was obvious it would center around them and talk about reconciliation. "Let’s not keep them waiting any longer, shall we?"
All stepped aside and Adam walked in front with his hand leisurely tagged inside imhis pockets. He watched himself go for a few seconds before he followed behind him. His mind reeled back to the reason why Sara had turned down coming to this meeting. He didn’t want to feel jealous and was fully aware that Sara felt nothing for Adam, at least not anymore. He couldn’t help the feeling of jealousy and possessiveness overtaking him.
They reached the door of the office, which the others were and stopped hearing them bickering inside, and for the first, Olivia yelled as she spoke, sounding annoyed and impatient.
"Can you guys behave like adults. I am the youngest one here, the only child, but I am more silent and reserve than all of you," she said stressing a few words that she knew would stroke a chord or two.
"You have more and more disrespectful recent, Olivia. Is that how talk to you parents?" Lily asked.
Olivia opened her mouth to speak when the door opened and all eyes turned to it.
"Can you blame her? She was right whne she said you are not acting your age," Adam said, his gaze alternating between his father and mother.
"Sometimes it takes a child to remind the adults that they are no longer children and she should act their age," Alex added and the room fell into more thicker silence.
It was surprising enough to see the two of them coming at the ane time but what was more surprising was the fact that they were...
on the same page?
"What?" Adam asked, frowning at the way they were being stared at.
"Why did you call us here, Brother? I can’t be away for too long, so let’s make it quick," Alex said and everyone sighed.
He was still the same impatient Alex when it came to them.
