Melting Her Cold Heart -
Chapter 134. What do you mean?
Chapter 134: 134. What do you mean?
Almost ten years ago, Dane and Dave had met by chance at an event. Both were introverted and sifted next to each other on the same table.
Despite the cheerful ambiance, Dave preferred scribbling on his notepad. His pencil is ever ready to draw or just write down any idea that came to mind.
Having no one else to talk to and not being in the mood to initiate a conversation with anyone, Dane was drawn to the silent man beside him. He watched him draw. His designs, although seeming unorthodox, were quite beautiful and provided Dane the escape he needed from the chatty crew around them.
He paid close attention to everything Dave drew. His eyes followed the pencil as it traced the piece of paper, putting ink on its empty pages. It was as if nothing else mattered to him at that moment, and Heath admired his dedication. Each line was drawn with precision and grace. It was obvious he loved what he did.
Feeling another’s gaze on him, Dave stopped and closed the notepad. His eyes then met those of Dane questioningly.
"I mean no harm," he said, understanding the meaning behind the hard glare he received. "I just thought your work was beautiful. It’s unlike anything that I have ever seen," he said with utmost sincerity.
Dave darted his eyes to everyone else. They were either negated in conversation about one business or another while others just drank and laughed. None of the people seated at the table noticed his designs except the man seated beside him, and they had never met before. Even his own family didn’t think much of his passion for fashion and designing. They wanted to raise an heir for the family business. The only reason he could still design, although only in the pages of books, was because he had made a deal with his family.
He could keep on drawing his designs but will take over the family business. It was the only way to keep the family name and make them proud.
"You are the second person to say that to me," Dave said as a soft smile graced his lips. "Thank you."
Dane’s brows jutted together. Anyone who saw his design would’ve known that they were good. Not in the current trend, but they could set a trend on their own. So why were there so few people who praised the man’s work? Then who was the first?
"Dane Scott, it’s my pleasure meeting you here today," he said, reaching out his band for a handshake.
Dave stared at the hand for a while before he shook it. "Dave Dylan, also a pleasure to meet you."
And just like that, the two of them were engaged in a conversation that was completely different from what everyone oneself was discussing. It was amazing how easily they connected and got along.

Dane blinked and sighed. Why was he thinking about his first encounter with Dave at a time like this? The man didn’t even bother approaching him, so why should he be bothered? He asked himself.
But still, he thought back to what Dave had said to him.
"You are the second person to say that to me."
"I guess Alexander would be the first then," he said aloud. Although he never asked him who the other person was, he could just tell who he was. Dave already had friends, just he and Alex were. It’s just that they didn’t know each other until that fateful evening.
When they got to know about each other and Alex, being the knot that tied them, the three of them became almost inseparable.
"Almost seems to be the right word," he mused because they ended up separating with him standing alone and Dave siding with Alexander. Although the three later made friends with Kyle and Amber, they weren’t as close.

Olivia returned to the Crawfords residence after spending all morning at Opulent qOaks. Her mind was still occupied with the fact Sara and her little uncle had been together sometime in the past, and Sara had a condition that none of them knew anything about.
But upon stepping her foot through the doors, she felt the tension that loomed heavily inside. Olivia paused, and she contemplated going in the direction she knew everyone must be seated and having a heated conversation which had caused the heavy aura that she felt or take another route to her bedroom.
"Welcome back, little young miss," Mr North’s voice had Olivia sighed and quickly but hesitantly deciding where to go.
"Good evening, Mr North. Are my parents with Grandpa?" She asked, and the butler nodded his head. "What if Uncle Sean and Aunt Selena?"
"They are there too," Mr North replied, and he nodded before taking her steps towards the living room while he fell behind her.
The closer she got to the living room, the harder it was to breathe. And she missed Opulent Oaks immediately. The air there was fresh without this animosity and tension. Although things turned tense after Sara passed out, it was never like this.
"Good evening, grandfather," she greeted as soon as she met Williams’ eyes.
Williams looked at her and smiled, giving her a curt nod. "Welcome back. Have a seat," he said, and she obediently went ahead to sit.
"Good evening, Father, mother. Uncle Sean and Aunt Selena," she greeted before she sat down.
Selena smiled at her while Lily was glaring at her, and Olivia knew she was in trouble. Her eyes darted to her father, who only looked at her, but she couldn’t read his thoughts at all. Sean was just like his wife. Smiled and nodded at her.
"How was your day, Olivia?" Sean asked, taking Olivia by surprise.
Why was it her uncle and wife that were being the understanding couple why her parents just looked angry at her? She asked herself.
"I had a great day, Uncle Sean. Thank you for asking," she said smiling but turned and flared at her mother, who looked away as if realizing what she had done wrong.
"Olivia," Williams called, and she sat up straight, waiting to be reprimanded. "You don’t have to be so tense. No one is scolding you. Kayden is your uncle, and you did nothing going to him when you felt the need to. We are all family after all," Williams said, knowing the reason for tensed up countenance.
"Oh... right. Yes, Grandpa," she said, surprised but a bit relieved that she won’t get scolded.
"But we do have a few questions to ask you," he said while looking between Dominic and Lily. "Some people suspect foul play, they say everything that has happened was pre-planned to ruin another..."
"Father," Dominiv interrupted but received a glare from Williams, and he went silent.
"To be precise, you Father, mother and older brother all think that I planned to overthrow them. Humiliate them and give everything to Kayden, including Sara, who is now a kayden’s wife," he said no longer interested in speaking with hidden truths.
Olivia frowned, but she swallowed the lump that was forming in her throat. Had she known, she would have spent the night with Alex and Sara. At least there, she won’t be forced to sit and become the center of attention, taking her family’s glares warning gazes.
"You were at Kayden’s home when he made a post online, yes?" Williams’ voice pulled her out of her thoughts, and she nodded. "Can you tell us what you observed?" Williams said, his voice, and so was his gaze as he looked at her.
"uhm..." Well, after Uncle Alex made the post ans Sar...Aunt Sara saw it," she began almost biting at her tongue for not being used to addressing Sara as her aunt but Alex had made it clear that Sara should be addressed properly by everyone. Olivia was not ready to disobey Alex just yet.
Even Sean and Selena were taken aback by the way she called Sara, but they were smart enough to hold back their words and mask their curiosity. They all knew how much Olivia and Sara didn’t get along.
"Keep going, Olivia. What happened after she saw it?" Williams coaxed her.
"She passed out," Olivia said and everyone frowned, not sure how seeing a picture would have her passing out.
"That’s got to be a joke right?" Lily asked. There was no way Sara would faint because she saw a photo. "She was probably pretending..."
"Sara has partial amnesia. The doctor and psychologist that came to attend to her confirmed it. She fainted because... because it triggered something...?" She said no longer sure of herself.
The revelation shocked everyone and thick silence followed. Olivia fidgeted, fumbling with her dress and hoping that someone would break the silence. And her prayers were answered almost immediately, but it wasn’t from anyone currently seated there.
"What do you mean by partial amnesia?"
