Melting Her Cold Heart
Chapter 130. Made up his mind

Chapter 130: 130. Made up his mind

"Why did you marry my uncle?" Olivia asked. She stared suspiciously at Sara as if she had stolen something of hers. "What did you do to him to make him marry you?"

Sara stared at the girl in amusement. Even though Olivia tried to put on a bold front, Sara could see how much she was struggling just to keep that facade. "Because I like him," Sara replied. Her tone was soft, and for a moment, Olivia didn’t seem to understand her. "With Alex there’s this connection that had never been there. Besides, I can do as I please. You never wanted me to be your sister-in-law, right? You got your wish and got myself a husband. You should be happy." Sara didn’t talk to her as she would a child. A child wouldn’t do as much Olivia has done, although they had always considered ignorant and naive due to her age.

"This is all just to get back at my brother?" Olivia’s eyes widened as she thought about that. "Adam is a wreck, yet you are here–" she added but was interrupted before she could finish.

"I have no obligation to cater for Adam. His emotions are his to take care of, not mine. And don’t you think it is laughable? He treated me like dirt, and so did you. But now that I am married, he wants me back?" Sara laughed. "Even you feel bad about it now. It is indeed laughable." She nodded her head at her own words.

"He doesn’t want you back...right...?" Olivia said more of a question to herself than to Sara. Sara raised a brow, and she tried to think of what to say that would make sense of the situation. "He is just upset, that is all. If you hadn’t left him, then he wouldn’t be such a wreck. It is all your fault."

Sara nodded her head as if agreeing to her, and she frowned.

"Do you have a boyfriend, Olivia? Or maybe a crush?" Sara asked, and Olivia blinked but, which became flustered and looked away. "I’ll take that as a yes," Olivia turned to glare at her. "What would you do if you found you boyfriend, making out with another girl?" Sara asked anyway. "And then imagine him doing that all the time, not just with one girl, but with many. What would you do?" She asked again.

The frown on Olivia’s face deepened, and her fists instinctively clenched. "I’ll kill him," she mouthed, and Sara raised a brow again.

"I guess Adam was lucky I chose to walk away rather than killing him. At least you still have your brother alive," Sara uttered. "But I believe now that you understand what I felt, though just a little, you do understand. Will you tell me to still stick to him? Do you think I wanted to marry your brother because he had money?" Olivia looked away at the last question. So she did, Sara said inwardly.

"Anyway, that’s in the past now. I am married to your uncle, not as a means of revenge but because I wanted to. I like him and he likes me. That’s all that matters. It would be nice if you and I could get along nicely from here on. Although even if we don’t, it wouldn’t matter to me," Sara said, falling back on the couch.

"Grandfather would never..." Olivia wanted to say Williams wouldn’t allow it, but that man was always ready to accept and approve anything Alex does. "I’ll try to... like you, from now on."

Meanwhile, inside the study, the air was tense, but the four people inside had laid back expressions on their faces despite the topic of discussion.

"Forget about Dane. I don’t want to keep talking about that bastard," Dave said, putting a stop to the conversation. "I have better things to think about than a guy who can’t be trusted."

"Still haven’t moved on, I see," Amber said with a knowing look in her eyes. "Anyway, you are right. Let’s stop talking about him. We all know what he is capable of doing, and that’s no surprise," she turned and looked at Alex. "I do have other matters to discuss with you. You don’t mind, do you?"

"What is it this time?" Alex narrowed his eyes at her, but she smiled and waved her hand.

"It’s nothing too big that you’ll have to compromise, I give you my word," she said, raising her hand and asking if he was making a pledge. Alex raised an eyebrow at her. "It’s about the endorsement deal. I want it," she went straight to the point.

"Should have expected that," Kyle said with a shake of his head.

"What’s the point of having friends in high places if you can’t use them to get up there? Besides, he promised me that before." Amber defended.

"You don’t lack money, do you?" Dave asked with a smirk on his lips. He pushed his body forward and raised his brows. "Don’t tell me it’s true."

"I don’t, but..." she sighed and leaned back, closing her eyes she exhaled. "I don’t have any jobs these days. Many won’t contact me because they say I am too expensive. It’s annoying. Even my manager is going crazy because of this. I just want to get the load off her shoulder just a little bit."

"Quite considerate of you," Kyle teased, and she glared at him. "I would like to fight with you for that..."

"You got it," Alex said, disrupting the little drama and whining that was just about to take place. "If that is all, I have to go. Tomorrow will be a busy day. There’s a lot to take care of."

He stood up to leave, but Kyle spoke again.

"I will head back to Easton this evening. But I’ll make sure to keep an eye out," Kyle said. But, I’ll also speak with Dane. It is only right that we do. You may not care about what his reasons may be, I do. He wasn’t always like this. We all know that."

Alex’s expression darkened at those words, but he didn’t speak. Was Dane the bad guy? No. He wasn’t until he changed, and that change affected their friendship, creating an enemy that wasn’t easy to ignore.

"We could try to understand the reasons behind what happened. Maybe we..." Kyle continued, but Alex interrupted him.

"Do you think I didn’t try to do that?" He turned around to face Kyle. "I went to him and tried to understand his reasons, but he wouldn’t say anything and rather went ahead to make things worse when he declared war. Many died after he did that, and I realized he had made up his mind. I won’t forgive him for that. After what he did, I could never see him as a friend again. But that does not stop you from maintaining your friendship with him. I just don’t want you talking about him to me."

"Alex..." Amber called. She never knew Alex had gone to speak with Dane before the complete fallout between the two.

"Don’t," Dave stopped her. "Dane isn’t the only whose reasons need to be understood but Alex too. They were closer than any of us, yet everything originated from them."

"That’s why I need to talk to him. He needs to tell us exactly what happened," Amber said, refusing to just let go like that.

"You can go and ask him. He should be in a better position to explain it all," Alex said as he resumed his steps to leave the study.

"I wonder how Kai deals with all of these problems and never spends a day in the hospital," Kyle uttered. He had to admit, he was in the same boat as Amber, confused and wanting to iron it all out but couldn’t.

Alex stopped walking when a knock was heard on the door. His brows pulled further together, but he reached for it and opened it. Standing behind the door was Kai.

"Kai?" Even Alex was surprised to see him there, but he still stepped aside and allowed him in.

"I have come to tell you that Mis Davis has been found and caught. But we have another issue at hand," he said while walking inside. He stopped upon seeing the people inside. "I wasn’t expecting to see everyone here," he said . He made contact with them all. "Did something that I don’t know of?"

"Nice to see you too, Skylar,"

"What issue?" Alex said as he took his steps back inside. The others glared at him but didn’t complain. For all the know, it could be something important.

"Take a look at this," Kai said as he took out his phone and searched for the trending topics. "Here."
