Melting Her Cold Heart -
Chapter 127. How Peaceful!
Chapter 127: 127. How Peaceful!
Sara opened her eyes. Although she had slept the whole night, she was still unwilling to leave the bed for the comfort it provided. Feeling the arm dropped around her waist. Her lips curled up, knowing he was the source of the warmth she and reason she didn’t want to leave the bed just yet.
Wriggling her body, she managed to turn around. He had his eyes closed, his breathing stable and calm. His breath gently fanned her face, causing her to close her eyes before opening them again.
"So peaceful," she muttered in a hushed voice. She wondered if she was like this when asleep. The calmness he showed right now was enviable. Unable to stop herself, combed his hair with her fingers, pushing back the stray strands, and then pressed a kiss on his forehead.
"I don’t know what happened between us in the past or how far we our relationship got, and even the reason why I can’t remember it but I’ll try to be a good wife to you, Alex." She said, her words more of a promise than anything, and she was determined to keep it. "I may make mistakes. Maybe even a little too much to handle, but I hope you’ll look past all of that."
She spent a few more minutes just staring at him and sometimes tracing the outline of his face while praying he didn’t wake up and see her doing it. Once satisfied. She gently pulled his hand off her body and stealthily left the bed.
As soon as the bathroom door closed shut, Alex opened his eyes. His gaze fixed in the direction where she had gone.
"..and I promise to be a good husband to you, and hope that you can also overlook my flaws too," he muttered under his breath.
Yes, he heard everything. She did wake up before him, but the moment she turned to face him, he gained consciousness but kept his eyes closed and breathing stable. He just never expected to hear her say those words but he wasn’t complaining.
The sound of his phone ringing got his attention, and as he had expected, it was Kai calling. He placed a hand over his eyes and sighed before finally sitting up and reaching for the phone.
"President Legend," Kai started and Alex’s eyebrows pulled together. "Congratulations on your marriage, but I am afraid I’ll have to disturb your morning."
"Did something happen?" Alex asked.
"The police are looking into the disappearance of that woman," he reported but Alex didn’t give any reaction to his words. "Adam asked the police to search for her," he added.
"Let them look. As long as nothing is found, it has nothing to do with me. Make sure of that," he said in a detached tone that had Kai shaking his head.
"The boys did a clean job. There is nothing to take care of. But your nephew might just start suspecting something," Kai said, but Alex still didn’t see a reason to react.
"Then you take care of it too," he replied with disinterest.
"Fine,’Kai decided to let it go. "Have you told your family about your marriage yet? They might not take it smiling."
"That’s not a problem either," he said dismissively. "I didn’t marry for them to approve. She is my wife, and they have to accept that fact whether they like it or not."
Hearing him like that, Kai couldn’t refute his words. Alex never sorted for permission. He came back for his woman, and now he got her. He didn’t care who approved or who didn’t. As long as Sara didn’t mind, he wouldn’t care either.
"I want you to make preparations for Easton. She wants to meet Trevor in person and want everything to go smoothly," Alex instructed, his word cutting into Kai’s train of thought.
"I will take care of it," he said and went silent. "I think we have a problem, Alex. Miss Davis and her friend are nowhere to be found. I believe someone is helping them but I assure you that they are still within the city."
"Find them. Use whatever means necessary," Alex said, his voice a bit lower now, but it didn’t lose the edge it had before.
"Give me some time. I’ll get them or at least find the one helping them," Kai said. This had to be one of the few times playing cat and mouse dragged this long, and even he was getting tired of the game.
"Mhm," Alex hummed. They exchanged a few more words before the call was disconnected. But before he could put the phone down, Amber’s name flashed on the screen and he cursed and then contemplated ignoring or accepting the call but eventually he accepted the call.
Although he accepted it, he didn’t speak until she did.
"You are such a terrible host, you know? We’ve been here all night and even now you have refused to come to see us," Amber said but befire she could say more, Alex disconnected the line.
"How troublesome," he muttered befire leaving the bed. He though of going to tye bathroom to infirm Sara but decided against it. He wanted her ti take her time getting ready. If he told her now, she woukd rush herself.
Walking into the closet, he picked out some clothes before leaving the room with the intention of using another room. They cake without his knowledge. They only had themselves to blame for being neglected.

"He hung up on me," Amber frowned as she stared at the phone. Her eyes then darted to the two men seated in front of her and glared at them. "Why are you so unbothered?"
"Because it is quite obvious. VERY EXPECTED. Allex will always be Alex. Annoying, but also very trustworthy," Kyle replied and Dave agreed.
"You’re wasting your time trying t9 get him down here with the excuse that he is the host," Dave added. "Just relax, once Sara cone down, he will too."
"We have business to discuss. He always speaks of not mixing business with pleasure but he is the one doing just that," she sighed and fell lazily on the seat.
"When did he do that?" Kyle asked, his brows pulled together in confusion but Amber rolled her eyes. "The man just woke up and it’s the weekend we are in his home, uninvited. It is only natural he’ll ignore us. We are lucky he hasn’t asked them to throw us out."
"Whatever," Amber said, still not pleased with being left waiting. Her head toluene to the left where she heard footsteps approaching and they she found the housekeeper.
"Breakfast is almost ready," Mrs Lawson said to the group. She had a warm and friendly smile on her face. "Would you like anything specific? We could have it arranged."
"No, we are all good. We’ll have whatever the house masters are having," Dave replied to her and the woman gave a curt bow.
"Very well then. Please excuse me," she then turned and left the trio. On her way to the kitchen, one of the security outside came to her and whispered something to her ear and she frowned but nodded her head. "Lead the way," she said and followed him.
"She is right. Mrs. Lawson," the securityan pointed at the girl seated on the patio.
"Thank you. You may leave now," Mrs Lawson dismissed the security man. She then approached the patio, her brows still pulled together. Not because she didn’t know who she was, but because she never expected to see her here.
"Mis Crawford," Mrs Lawson called once she was close enough and Olivia whipped her head around. She frowned at first but once she realized who he womanight be, she smiled.
"Hello..." she said, not knowing the woman’s name.
"This is quite a surprise. What brings you here so early?" Mrs Lawson spoke, her tone still as respectful. Olivia may not be a Legend, but she was a Crawford and her Young master’s niece. She couldn’t afford to offend the young lady.
"Well... uhm... is Uncle Alex home today," Olivia asked, scratching her ear in awkwardness.
"Yes. The young master is home. Please come inside. It is almost time for breakfast. I am sure you have had yours," Mrs Lawson invited her in.
"O..okay. thank you," Olivia almost squeaked. She was finally here and she would even enter inside Opulence Oaks. Her mother and father might kill when they learn about it but who cares. She just wanted to get closer to her uncle.
