Melting Her Cold Heart -
Chapter 117. The One After Your Heart
Chapter 117: 117. The One After Your Heart
Sara was taken aback by the accusation in his tone and quickly spun around. Her eyes narrowed at him while he cooked his head to the side, his eyes still staring accusingly at her. She was about to explain herself but she changed her mind.
"Maybe I am," she said and stepped a step away from crossing her arms. "I just realized that this has been the only room I’ve ever stayed in, even while we are still official. I just think it would be nice to lie on a different bed for a change," Sara nodded her head thoughtfully.
"You are right," he said, and she frowned. "What? Did you think I’ll stop you? Thos your home, your house. You make the rules and do whatever you want. I’ll just have to follow you wherever you go. After all, you never said i couldn’t go with you."
Wasn’t the whole point of moving to another oomph just to avoid him? "I also never said you could go with me," she said, but he smirked. "I should just go and get ready. Talking about this now is yielding any fruits."
"You are right. Let’s wait until tonight, and we can properly discuss this matter," he kissed her forehead and stepped back. "Carr to join me for a bath?" His demeanor suddenly changed. He looked suggestively at her, making her face flush, caged between his hands.
"Not happening," she wriggled herself out of his hold once again. "I will go first, then you," she said while already making her ti the bathroom.
Alex watched her leave and smiled as he wondered if she realized how quickly she started acting like a wife. He wasn’t complaining, though. It was what he wanted and he git it. He chuckled aiftly to himself when he heard the door of the bathroom being locked from the inside.

Dane starrf out the window, his exoression hard and eyes cold as if coated in frost. His grip on the phone that he he held tighter until its screen cracked, and the sharp edges pierced his fingers, drawing blood.
He just received two phone calls, each bearing bad news. First was a call from his father asking him to return home. The sudden call was infuriating, and what angered him.mist was the fact that Mr. Goldman suddenly decided to call off the marriage agreement. That was already suspicious enough, but I received another phone call almost immediately.
The words that Heatj said still echoed in his kind, and suddenly everything started to make sense. The call from his father also made sense.
"Young Master, Miss Goldman jusy got married,"
These were the first words that struck Dane’s nerves. But then what followed it, the naked of her so-called husband, only managed to worsen his already sour mood and fan the flames of his anger.
"I She is married to Mr Legend, Young Master," Heath had said when he asked of who the man was.
"So this is the reason you came back here, Alex," he uttered through gritted teeth. His jaws hardened, and he clenched his other hand tightly gill his knuckles turned white. "Why are you always everywhere? You are always a stumbling block."
"Perhaps we should return to Easton, Young Master. We might still be able to convince Elder Goldman," Heath who now stood behind him suggested. His tone and stance are careful not to rouse the man’s anger any further.
"Ypu too, huh?" Dane uttered. Nodding his head in disappointment.
"Young Master...?" Heath didny quite get the reasoned why he is nodding, but he didn’t like the way he was feeling.
"You are afraid of him too," Dane slowly turned to face Heath. His cold gaze locked with this of Heath, which nearly had him taking a cautious and intimidated step back, but he didn’t dare. Dane didn’t like that.
"That is not what I meant, sir. It’s just that right now we are on his territory.nhe had control over everything here. A confrontation now will only be a suicide attempt," Heath tried to reason with him, but all Dane saw and heard were excuses, and Heath could clearly see that in his eyes.
"Gey ready for the banquet, Heath. I will meet with her before anything else, and I’ll do that tonight." Dane ordered. He wanted to know what kind of woman would have Alex so into her that he didn’t hesitate to marry her jusy barely over a month since his return to Amberfell.

On the other side, Adam was also ready to head to the Romanovs. Sinfe he knew without a doubt that Sara will.be there for Sandra and her parents, he intends to come front her there. If Alex just happens to be there too ,then so be it.
Thinking that she would be earlier than most guests, he also plans to leave early.
Buy as soon as he stepped out of his room, he heard Williams’ voice, he was talking to Mr. North, asking if he had left yet and his steps halted. He should have known that they faithful butler would report anything and everything
g to his master, however significant or insignificant it may be.
"Not yet, Master," Mr. North replied, his tone as humble as always.
"Call him for me," Williams instructed, and Mr. North bowed his head.
"Yes,"he said, but before he could turn to go find Adam, he walked towards them. "Young Master Adam," Mr North greeted, but Adam ignored him.
Adam’s expression was hard as he approached them. His dissatisfaction with everything evident on his gaze. "You wanted to see me, Grandfather?" Although he asked a question, he looked as though he already knew everything. How their conversation would start and where it would end. Probably him getting more annoyed at what Willaims would say and storming g out or both of them getting pissed for not finding mutual grounds.
"Yes, come with me," Williams said, nit Taki g offense at the way Adam had spoken to him with disrespect and defiance.
Reluctantly, Adam followed Williams into the study.
"Sit down, Adam," Williams offered. Adam stared at the seat for a moment as if contemplating whether to accept the invitation or not. Williams didn’t bother about him and took his seat. "Well...?"
Adam exhaled, calming himself before he pulled the chair back and sat down. He didn’t speak, and neither did Williams as they just held each other’s gaze. While Willaims was studying him, all Adam wanted was to leave the study at as soon as possible.
"Adam..." Williams started after the long silent. Now that he had Adam here, he didn’t know where to begin. Dominic had already told him everything but Alex has not but it wasn’t hard to believe it either. In the end, Adam would misunderstand tye situation more. But Williams could not blame him this time. Everything looked to suspicious for him to ignore ans call a coincidence.
"If this about your son, forget it," Adam said. He had paused for longer than he would like. At least the old man had a conscience unlike his bastard son.
"I know you think all of this is a set up, Adam. But I assure it is not–"
"Then what is it, Grandfather?" Adam interrupted him but Williams still kept his cool. "He suddenly shows up and everything gets handed to him," smiled in self mockery. "You had always wanted him. No.matyer what everyone else did, it didn’t matter to you. It was just him. The one after your heart and everyone knows that."
"Do you know why Kayden returned to amberfell?" Still keeping his cool, Williams asked. Two hit heads can not come to an understanding and in this situation, he was the one to keep a cool head. Adam could vent. He had earned that right at least.
"He came back here because of Sara. When words of your broken engagement got to him, he came back. He didn’t plan for your breakup, you did that all on your own. Alex just too back what was once his-"
"Sara? My fiance was once his?" Adam chuckled at the absurdity. "I know all of her ex’s, Grandfather, and Alexander was never among them. But then, let’s assume what you say is right. The truth. Then why did you choose him over me? Over my father? And over uncle Sean? Why do you also put so much value in Sara, my engagement to Sara meant so Much to you and I don’t even know why?"
