Melting Her Cold Heart -
Chapter 115. Hidden Talents
Chapter 115: 115. Hidden Talents
Dara whipped her head toward the door where the voice had come from, her eyes squinted slightly at the familiar face of the woman. A moment later, as the woman Dre closer, she was able to put a name to the face.
She was another icon in the showbiz. Amber Hale, a model, actress, and singer who has won many awards and the current face of the industry.
"Dave told me you were coming, but I didn’t believe it until now. Maybe I should take his words more seriously from now on," she said again, not at all affected by Alex’s hardened gaze.
"You must be Sara, right?" She turned her attention to Sara. I have heard so much about you," she went ahead to hug her, leaving Sara stunned for a moment before she recovered but was still hesitant to hug her back.
"Yes I am..."
"I know, I am never wrong," Amber said without letting Sara complete her words. "You should..." before she could continue talking, Alex pried her away from Sara, leaving her glaring at him.
"Keep your claws to yourself, Amber," Alex said in a warning tone. He didn’t like her near Sara. The woman had some weird beliefs he wouldn’t want to rub off on his woman.
"There’s finally another girl in the group, and I am not allowed to get close? " She crossed her arms, her gaze hard and tone sharp. "You are joking, right? Dave tells me he is joking," she turned to Dave, who had just returned with an assistant pulling a rack behind him.
"I also say, you keep your paws off the pretty lady," Dave replied, causing Amber to frown deeply.
"Are you saying I am not pretty enough?"
"Your words, not mine," cane Dave’s short reply, leaving her fuming.
"You are the nation’s goddess, Miss Hale. Don’t listen to him. I am sure he is just messing with you," Sara said, truly finding it funny how these three interacted. But amidst their banter and slightly harsh words, she could tell they cared about each other.
"But he is right, though. You may think she is beautiful, but no one is more beautiful than you are," Alex said loudly enough for everyone to hear.
Sara flushed when she heard him and became even redder when she felt all of their eyes on her. Amber even rolled her eyes, but a small smile tugged at the corners of her lips.
"Always the lover boy," she said with sarcasm. "Listen to me dear, I know him better than anyone else, and he can not be trusted. Don’t ever make the mistake of trusting him," she said very seriously that Sara found herself nodding at how convincing she sounded.
"You think every man can not be trusted, Amber. You are not in the position to give advice to anyone," Dave said, and she glared at him.
"And you see women no d8fferent from your mannequins," she retorted.
Alex sighed like a parent, tired of watching his children bicker with each other. "Where is it, Dave?"
"Right, It’s right here," he quickly replied upon seeing how Alex’s expression was getting darker with every second that was wasted. "Can you come over here, my dear? Try this on," he said to Sara as he revealed the beautiful red dress. "I will make the necessary adjustments if it does not fit..."
"If you fail to get the size right, then it will be tossed away. I gave you the measurements, Didn’t I?" Alex interrupted him but held his arm to stop him.
Dave opened his mouth to say something, but he closed it back wordlessly. "Please try it on," he said to Sara instead.
At the side, Amber smirked. "Now it’s your turn to be looked down upon by this devil."
Dave ignored her little remarks as he returned his attention to Sara. "Change over there. These girls are here to help you if you need them," he said to her as the said girls made their presence known.
"Sara looked at Alex, who gave her a nod. "Go on,"Alex encouraged.
"Okay," she said, all smiles. Although she already had a dress picked for her by Sandra and Anne, she liked that he was making g such efforts for and through this, she was able to meet his friends. "Give me a moment, and I’ll be right back,’ she kissed his cheek, and he smirked when the others rolled their eyes at the sweet gesture.
"I am also here for my dress, Dave. I am attending the banquet," Amber said. Both Alex and Dave gave her a suspicious look, but she only shrugged. "A little birdie told me that something interesting would go down, and I want to have a front row seat to see it." she looked at Alex and smiled meaningfully. "Because he is going..." she tipped her chin in Alex’s direction as if just looking at him wasn’t enough. "...it is all the proof I need to know that something interesting will indeed happen."
"Go check over there, if you find what you like, take it," Dave said with a wave of his hand as if it was not a big deal having her pick anything from his new designs.
"And that’s why I like you," she walked by him, tapping her hand on his shoulder, which he quickly shrugged off and avoided a second touch.
Meanwhile, Sara studied the dress she was given and realized that it was unlike any design from the D&D brand. The style, the embroidery, almost everything about it was different.
Realizing how g she had taken to study the dress, she quickly took off her clothes and got into the new one. She could ask questions later.
Wearing the dress, it was exactly her size. The curves were all in the right places. Now remembering what Alex had said, her face flushed as she wondered when he took her measurements to know it so accurately.
"I am done," she said as she stepped out of the changing room. She didn’t need help getting into the dress since it was a perfect fit.
Her voice and presence had everyone looking at her. The look of admiration crossed the eyes, and a satisfied smile appeared on the faces of Alex and Dave, who had different reasons for the satisfaction.
"How do I look?" She asked, her eyes searching for the mirror which she had missed because she was too distracted by the dress and it’s possible designer.
"Beautiful," Alex said as she approached her. He planted a kiss on her forehead. "Perfect. You are perfect."
"I have to agree with him," Amber said. Her eyes never left the dress. "I must say, Dave, you’ve outdone yourself with this," she said with a thoughtful nod.
"I didn’t design it. I just put the pieces together," Dave said. He frowned because someone who wasn’t even a designer was able to outdo him so easily.
"Oh... so, who?" Amber asked, and to this, Sara wanted to know the answer to.
Dave didn’t reply, but his gaze found Alex. As soon as he did that, they knew exactly who the designer was.
"You?!" Amber couldn’t believe that Alex would have other hidden talent besides all that they already knew.
"You made this for me?" Sara grinned from ear to ear, unable to hide her happiness. He made this for her yet he was willing to toss it aside if there was ever a mistake. "Thank you."
"You deserve only the best, wife," he said while leading her to the mirror. ’It suits you,’ he stood behind her, hugging her from behind.
"When did you prepare this?" Sara asked, unable to take her eyes off the dress. Whenever she thinks he could surprise her anymore, he always pulls out something new.
"Not that long ago," he replied and Dave who heard her snorted. He was lying through his teeth like it was nothing.
Although Sara heard the little ungraceful sound from Dave, she chose to ignore it. "It’s beautiful," she leaned into his, her smile still intact.
"Yes, but you are more beautiful," he whispered and her chesk became redder once again. Just how many times had his words made her turn as red as a tomato? "Come, we are almost ready for tonight."
"Why do I feel like you intend to steal the show?" Sara blurted but he smiled without denying the accusation. "You are being impossible."
"I’ll go with you, I think I am all done here too," Amber said a she also picked up her purse. "You coming, Dave?"
