Melting Her Cold Heart -
Chapter 114. Be Nice
Chapter 114: 114. Be Nice
"Why are we here?" Sara turned to face Alex. It was an expensive neighborhood, but what were they doing here? Didn’t he say they were leaving so they could get ready for the banquet?
"There’s something in there for you," Alex said as he pointed up at the penthouse. Dara followed his gaze, but that didn’t answer her question. "Don’t worry, you’ll understand when we get there," he assured her.
Sara gave him a suspicious look, but he smiled as he stepped out as soon Ian opened the door. He went around the car and opened her side of the door and offered his hand, which she reluctantly accepted.
"Trust me on this," he said, and she finally nodded.
They were already here, and she couldn’t turn back now without a good reason.
"Take a break, Ian. We’ll call if we need you," Alex said. He didn’t know how long they’d take in there since it wasn’t only about him, so keeping him waiting wouldn’t be right.
"Yes, President," Ian said, grateful for the little time off.
Sara and Alex went up to the penthouse. As soon as they exited the elevator, the design pattern changed. Although Sara wasn’t able to see much of the lower floors. The glass doors enabled her to have just a glimpse of what they looked like, and it was definitely different from this penthouse. The colors were cool but classy.
Alex led to the single door and opened it even without knocking. The sight that she walked into was nothing like she had expected.
Racks of clothing lined up in rows. Even the furniture was covered in clothing as well. She could only hear the voice of a man giving orders.
"This is..." Sara turned to Alex. It wasn’t hard to figure out why they were there anymore, but she still couldn’t believe it. The clothing brand also came as a surprise. Instead of being taken to the malls and boutiques where this would have been sold, he had taken to the...workshop?
"There’s something here for you. Just give me a moment," he pressed a kiss on her temple before going behind the racks to where the voice was coming from.
"Do you know how long we’ve been here waiting, Dave?" Sara heard Alex ask, and she raised a brow.
’Didn’t they just get here?’ She thought but shook her head.
"Oh, you’ve come," the man he was talking to didn’t seem phased at all. "Where is she? She’s the one who I want to see. I am tired of seeing your face all the time," he said, and the next thing Sara heard were racks being pushed aside, and then the man appeared from behind them. And just as she thought, it was the man himself.
He took a moment to assess her before nodding his head in satisfaction. "She isn’t bad," he commented before approaching her with an outstretched hand. "Sorry for any inconveniences and the mess around here." He gestured to the pile of clothes on the sofa where they were supposed to be seated. "I am..."
"Dave Dylan, I know who you are," Sara said, unintentionally interrupting him. He looked at her and smiled. "I’ve heard a lot about you," she may not be all that interested in fashion, but she has two fashion craze friends. They never stop talking about this man’s work, and she, as their friends, had to hear it all even if she didn’t want to. "It’s a pleasure meeting you, Mr. Dylan."
"And I like you already," he looked around for a place for her to sit, but there was none, and he sighed. "Someone come and clean this up." As soon as he said that, two women whom Sara assumed to be his model came out and packed up the clothes on the furniture and in no time, they were done and gone out of sight. "It’s quite shameful that you see that."
"You’ve always been a mess, and that hasn’t changed," Alex said as she went to stand beside Sara. "This way, wife," he led her to the now empty seats and let her sit. "What I asked for, is it ready?"
Dave glared at him for his harsh comment, but when Alex gave no reaction to his glares, he shook his head inwardly. "It’s been ready long ago. Give me a moment," he said as his gaze shifted to Sara. "I am still surprised that you can stand him, girl."
"Please ignore his comment. He isn’t always like this," Sara said in an attempt to salvage the situation.
"Mm-hmm," Dave hummed dryly. It was obvious he didn’t believe a word that she said. Giving a glance at Alex. He turned and walked away to get what he had asked for.
Sara gave a half smile while knowing g he didn’t believe her. "You know you should be nice to your friends," she said to Alex, who raised a brow at her.
"Wasn’t I being nice?" He asked with an innocent expression. "I was only being honest, and he knows that too. Why else would he be offended?"
"No one would be happy being called something they are not Alex, no matter how innocent you are," she stated, hoping f he would understand.
"But it’s true," he argued, and Sara found him cute for trying so hard to prove himself right.
"Maybe it’s true," she tapped the space beside her, and he sat down with hesitation. "But it’s still hurtful. Some truths are better left unsaid, especially if they are hurtful," he gave her a look, and he realized what she had just said. "But that doesn’t mean you can lie to me or hide anything from me."
"If course," he agreed with a nod of his head. "How could I ever lie to you?" Sara smiled, pleased with his response.
"I am glad you know that," she said and he nodded again, not at all willing to oppose her.
"And who do we have here?" A lady’s voice came from the entrance filled with pure surprise.
Upon hearing the voice, Alex frowned as his expression quickly shifted.
