Melting Her Cold Heart -
Chapter 113. Always Right
Chapter 113: 113. Always Right
.At the Legends’ main mansion,
Sara and Ncjolas were currently seated on the drawing room, enjoying a cup of tea and snack. Sara still found it surprise at how easily she connected with Nicholas.
They could talk about anything, and she wouldn’t grow bored, and he was kind enough to keep her company even after Alex left her side to attend to an urgent matter. She especially loved hearing the stories about young Alex. It was also hard to believe that Alex didn’t change much even after he was older but like every child, he had his moments of embarrassment too and Nicholas was more than happy to share them with her.
"Julliette would have loved you," he said, and the smile on Sara’s lips paused. She raised her head from the picture album Nicholas had given her, which contained photos Alex in his childhood and adolescence. "You are just like her. It is not surprising, though. You are Shelly’s daughter, and those two were quite similar."
Sara was taken aback by his words. He knew her mother? Those that mean he knew who her father was, too?
"Don’t look so surprised, Child. This world is quite small if you take the time to study it and the people in it, you will know that many are connected in ways you would’ve never imagined," he said, with a wave of his hand.
"Then... Do you know about..." Before she could even ask a proper question, Nicholas nodded his head.
"I do. But that is a story I think someone else would be better suited to tell," he said, and her expression fell. "Don’t get me wrong, Sara, your mother loved the man you know as your father now. There was no denying that. He knows that, too. No man would accept the child of another into his marriage if there was no love and understanding."
Sara thought about what he said and couldn’t agree more. If she didn’t have anything else to respect and be grateful to Jordan for, it would be the fact he accepted and raised her as his own. She never lacked, and he never made her feel out of place.
But what about her biological father, Trevor Goldman?
"Trevor and I go way back. I know him and also know when he and Shelly met. So yes, I know almost everything about you, and I am more than happy to have you in our little family," Nicholas said without revealing too much.
Sara wanted to ask more, but she was certain he would only give her vague answers without revealing anything significant. He was being polite by replying but also respecting his old friend but not saying too much. ’I guess I have no choice but to go to him,’ Sara thought.
"Thank you, Grandfather," she thanked him, and he beamed hearing her call him grandfather.
It was indeed better having a granddaughter, although he could never replace Alexander. He was his precious daughter’s offspring. Nicholas thought.
Alex returned at this moment and found his grandfather smiling like a satisfied fool and shifting his gaze to Sara, who also had a smile on her face. Apparently, it was contagious.
"Did I miss something?" He asked, alternating his gaze between the duo. He looked accusingly at Nicholas when he saw the picture album on Sara’s lap.
"We have to go now. My wife and I have a banquet to attend later today," his eyes were on Nicholas as he spoke while he drew closer to Sara’s side.
Nicholas glared at him for ruining the moment and wanting to take her away. Sara found his reaction rather cute.
"I’ll come by again sometime, I promise," Sara said in an attempt to calm him a little, and it worked like a charm.
"In that case, I’ll be expecting you soon then," he relented. Alex rolled his eyes, but he didn’t say anything else before the two changed their minds. He knew better than anyone how possible that was.
"Your grandfather is nothing like the rumors say," Sara said once they were inside the car. Apex wanted to laugh at her naive judgment, but what could he say when all his grandfather showed to her was his soft and fatherly side? "You don’t seek to share the same opinion?"
"We all have the right to our own thoughts and opinions, wife," he replied, dining the stray bullet.
"Yes, we all do. Yours just happens to be wrong," she said, and he hummed and nodded. "You are just going to agree to that?"
Alex nodded while looking at her. "I thought the motto was ’the wife is always right’ or am I wrong?" He asked with an innocent expression.
"Yes, you are wrong," Sara replied, and he nodded again.
"You are right," it was after his reply that he realized what he just did, and her face flushed red.
"You..." she couldn’t even form the right words to say to him.
"My wife can never be wrong because she is always right," he kissed the back of her palm while Sars just stared at him. Was this another level of flirting or what?
"You were a lot cuter as a little boy," she said, deciding to change the topic of discussion. They might be able to make him feel embarrassed, too. But she was dead wrong when he became smug about it.
"I am always the best everywhere I go. Age didn’t matter," he said, and Asra blinked, unable to believe he was such a narcissist. Even Ian had to look at him and silently shake his head.
His boss was getting more shameless every day, but what could he do about it?
"Fine, you win," Sara raised her hands in surrender. She didn’t think she could beat him in this game either. She saw him smirk, but she didn’t feel offended. Rather. Her heart warmed up. There was this sense of peace within her that she could not explain with words. She was glad she took the leap. That uncertain risk signed the documents with him.
"Thank you, Alex," she said, looking up at him. Not only did she mend and repair the cracks of her heart, but he often made her feel like a teenage girl in love all over again. He was the bad boy whom mothers would warn their Daugherty earnestly to stay away from, but they’ll just keep flocking around him because of his looks, background, and achievements.
She was that stubborn girl whose heart kept fluttering in his presence every word he said, even those that she should be wary of. Those that should have her running for her life, she was still drawn to him.
Just before Alex could reply, Ian announced in front of the driver’s seat, "We have arrived. President, Madam."
Sara looked at the window and she frowned. This wasn’t their home, so...
