Melting Her Cold Heart
Chapter 103: I’m Engaged

Chapter 103: I’m Engaged

As soon as Alex left her alone in the room, Sara sighed, now realizing what she had just done. Accepting a marriage proposal not long after a breakup, was she that desperate?

"No," she answered to her own thoughts. She was not desperate. She had never been desperate, maybe in the past, but not this time.

She raised the hand with the ring that she had now tied her more to Alexander Legend than ever before. It was a beautiful little thing, exactly the size of her finger as if it was custom-made for her.

"Wait..." at that thought, she didn’t think it was far-fetched if it actually was. Alex did seem quite prepared. She pulled the ring off her finger and examined it, and just as she had thought, it had the first letter ls of their names inscripted on the inside– A&S.

"You were truly prepared, weren’t you, Alex?" She mused, smiling to herself as she slipped the ring back on. "I guess I am engaged again, huh?"

Alex headed to the elevator with the phone on his ear. He knew he had kept Kai waiting, but he didn’t regret it after how everything turned out. He didn’t plan to propose so abruptly, but he couldn’t th9bk of a better way tonprhimself to her when she asked him to.

"Where are you?" he asked Kai over the phone. He hik Kai let out a tired sigh and he felt bad for him.

"Your study. I have been here for several minutes now," Kai replied.

"I’m here," Alex said as the elevator’s doors to the slid open, and he made his way directly to the study. He he pulled the phone off his ear and entered the study only to meet Kai’s glare. "Did you what for long?"

"What do you think?" Kai was annoyed by his nonchalance after keeping him waiting for so long.

"What did you find?" Alex asked. He ouled the seat back before sitting down. his fingers intervened, and his elbows probed on the desk. For someone who was involved in an accident in just a few hours, with a hard expression like he wanted to slaughter the whole world. He was pretty relaxed and calm. Something Kai noticed immediately.

"You are pretty calm. What am I missing?" The Alex that he knew would still be fuming and brooding. He wouldn’t calm down until the perpetrators were found and dealt with, but this time, he was yet to know who did it, but he was already this way.

"What can I say," Alex shrugged and smirked as he said, " I just got engaged. You don’t expect me to remain upset, do you?" He shook his head. "I don’t want to scare off my sweet fiance."

Kai looked at him as though he didn’t hear him properly or perhaps he was speaking in a foreign tongue, and he failed to understand him. "Let me get this clear..." he adjusted himself in the seat. "You are engaged? He asked just to be sure.

"I am, I expect you to handle the proceedings with the marriage Bureau just as planned," he said, and Kai stared incredulously at him.

Was he really serious about the engagement?

"What about Miss Ambrose? Don’t tell me you’ll leave her after..." Alex frowned, and he stopped. "It’s her?" He was even in disbelief that before now.

"Who else could it be?" Alex felt so much pride. He finally had her to himself, and he was going to keep it that way.

"Congratulations, Brother," Kai said, resigning himself to the truth. As unbelievable as it seems, the pride in Alex’s eyes could not be mistaken. It was true.

Alex nodded, accepting his well wishes.

"What have you found?" he asked.

Kai opened the brown envelope in front of him, took out some photos and a piece of paper before passing it to Alex. "The woman in that photo," he pointed to a picture of a blonde woman whose hair only stopped on her shoulders.

Seeing the image, Alex’ brown pulled together.

"You recognize her too. She was the previous manager of Public Relations. You fired her because of something she did involving Sara. I am assuming this was her way of getting back at Miss Ambrose," Kai said.

Alex picked up the picture and stared intensely at the face, committing it to memory. He then turned the picture to the back and saw her name written behind it. "Jocelyn Davis?" he muttered, but Kai still heard him and nodded. "...and him?"

"Her boyfriend and accomplice. He was the one who tampered with the brakes," Kai replied, and Alex gave a nod. His expression remained calm, but Frost was starting to settle within his brown orbs.

"The other woman is Malerie Archer," Alex looked at him, and he didn’t need to be asked to know what he was thinking. For all they knew, Sara and this woman had no connection whatsoever. Everyone in Sara’s circle of friends knew, including those whom she might have had a misunderstanding with.

"She is the woman with your nephew, Adam," At his words, Alex’s calm expression took a drastic turn.

He had let her off because he didn’t consider her significant enough to do anything on her own. But instead of taking what she had living her life, she had decided to harm Sara. Silence her for good. Alex couldn’t overlook this.

"Malerie and Jocelyn planned all this together and enlisted the help of Ash, the man over there. I have already sent people to follow them. They are just waiting for your order to bring them in.

Kai knew without a doubt that all of them would either end up dead or face life imprisonment. Sent to an asylum where they would never escape. Or just locked up in the cellars and missing with no one ever finding them.

"Take them to the cellars," Alex declared. His countenance was dark with rage simmering just beneath the surface.
