Adam sat on a stool beside the bar counter, an almost empty glass of liquor in her. His face crumpled up as he gulped down what was already in his mouth. The taste, though bitter, was exactly what he needed.

Beside him were two other young men. Their facial and physical resemblance highlighted the fact that they were siblings.

They both stared at their friend, who had only focused on drinking ever since they had arrived. They wanted to stop him, but he seemed in distress and needed the alcohol, so they met him frank to his heart’s content. After all, they were no stranger to the news of his devotions, scandals, and broken engagement.

"I think it’s time you take it easy, buddy," Julius, the person seated at his right side said. He even took the glass from his hand so he couldn’t drink anymore.

"What happened this time?" the second person asked. They both stared intently at Adam, who seemed stuck in his own world, wallowing in despair.

"Alexander happened," Adam finally spoke after several silent seconds. This caused a fromw on the siblings’ expressions. "Alexander is the reason for everything."

"Your little uncle?" Julius asked, a deep furrow forming between his brows. It had always baffled them how Adam disliked his little uncle so much. It could be somehow understandable, knowing how much better the man was compared to every other Crawford.

"Who else do you know as Alexander?" Adam glared at Julius for asking such an obvious question.

"I am sorry, Bro," Julius raised his hands in surrender.

"Can you at least tell us what went wrong this time? I know this isn’t just about the Apex Groups," Chris, Julius’ twin asked. He and Julius shared knowing glances.

"He has Sara wrapped around his finger. I won’t be surprised if he orchestrated everything that led to our breakup," he reached for the glass of liquor. Julius pushed it back to him, knowing how much he needed it. "It has to be his doing."

The twin looked at him as their brows pulled together in confusion. Wasn’t he caught cheating in bed by Sara before she dumped him? This was the question they both thought of, but none voiced it out yet. They just listened, knowing he had much more to say.

"I hate him. Not only has he taken my position from me, but he now wants my woman," he looked between the siblings and said, "o can’t let him get away. He can’t always have it all."

"Calm down, Adam," Chris said before things got out of hand. "We’ve all heard what your uncle..."

"Alexander," Adam interrupted Chris, not wanting to hear them refer to Alex as his uncle.

"...Alexander is capable. I don’t personally want to know if those are just rumors or if there’s some truth to it," Chris continued as if he wasn’t just interrupted.

"Adam, buddy..." Julius called, placing a hand on Adam’s shoulder in a friendly manner. "I’ll advise you not to jump into conclusions yet. We all know Sara, and she is not a scheming type. She loved you deeply. We all saw it. She had even suggested that your marriage be brought forward. You were the one who insisted it stayed as planned. Had she been colluding with someone else, she wouldn’t be so insistent."

Adam shot him a warning glare as he shrugged Julius’ hand off his shoulder. Adam diddny need a reminder that he was the one who had refused a shotgun wedding. Back then, he thought his reasons were right, but now, he regrets it. Had the shotgun wedding happened before, Sara would be his wife by now. Whether he loved her or not wouldn’t have mattered. His position as Williams’ heir would have been solidified because that was what Williams had promised him. Although it baffled him why Williams placed so much value on Sara. But maybe that’s also why Alex wanted her, too.

"You think Alex and Sara planned to ruin you, leave you with jotting when Alex was never interested in Apex," Chris said as if he didn’t understand it before now. He nodded his head in understanding. "What do you plan to do now?" Adam shot hom glare too, but he shrugged. "Let’s assume everything you said was true, Adam. Do you think you’ll be able to do anything against a man with connections in the Underworld? Alex is the definition of the typical Mafia boss we all gear about, Adam."

"You are both supposed to be on my side, helping me think of a way out of this, not you doubting every word I say," Adam regret asking f them to meet him here he would have been bettering alone drinking and wallowing in his pain than to have them pointing out every flaw in his plans and all that he tells them.

"Before you do anything, you must first consider all of its pros and cons. Be prepared for anything. That is just what we are doing, Adam. We won’t just run into something like this without considering everything. Your uncle might be young but has more power than even the president of our country. You should know that too," Julius said. This time, Adam didn’t glare at him because all that he said made sense.

"What is the plan, Adam? Sara was hurt by you. Getting together with your little uncle might just be her way of getting back at you. Not some long-term plan to destroy you. Have you considered that possibility?" Chris asked.

Adam seems to only be thinking about the present and only what he could see and his own feelings. He had completely forgotten how he hurt Sara.

"No woman would be pleased to know that her man is cheating not to talk about seeing them in the act. You wouldn’t want to see her with another man being intimate, would you?" Chris continued, and Adam frowned, glowering at him, but Chris smiled in understanding. "Even now, after your breakup, you can’t stand seeing her with another man. How do you think she felt at that time?"
