Chapter 67: Insulting Alpha Julius

The sight of Ryder standing outside her door resurrected Reana’s pent-up anger. Her embarrassment tonight was his fault, she thought as her steps doubled, anger rolling off her in waves. "You," she hissed, voice filled with indignation.

Ryder’s heart skipped a beat as he watched her march towards him, her eyes flashing like embers, her beautiful cold face set in a fierce scowl.

He stood his ground, lips curled into an indulging smile, though his instincts screamed at him to retreat from the storm brewing before him.

That smile!

Reana wanted to wipe it off his face. Her claws extended, a low growl rumbling in her throat as she launched herself at him.

Ryder’s smile never wavered, but his eyes flickered with a hint of wariness as her sharp claws came towards his chest.

Ryder’s reflexes kicked in, and he ducked just in time, avoiding her slashing claws by mere inches.

Reana’s enraged snarl carried on the wind, alerting Kira and the others, who rushed out of their room to find their Luna fighting Ryder. "I dare you to dodge!" Reana snarled.

The group watched in stunned silence, shocked by the ferocity with which Reana attacked Ryder. Yet, the servant seemed to be enjoying himself, his infuriating smile never wavering. "But you’ll beat me to a pulp, My Luna," he laughed.

Kira was at a loss for words, unsure how to intervene. Had Ryder crossed a line?

Just then, Reana’s claws slashed across Ryder’s chest. The group gasped in unison, their eyes fixed on the wound. But Ryder’s gaze remained locked on Reana’s face, his smile unwavering.

Is he a lunatic?!

Reana’s eyes widened in horror at what she’d done. The fabric of Ryder’s shirt was torn, revealing a slash of crimson beneath.

"You... why didn’t you dodge?" Reana panicked.

Ryder’s smile grew. "You told me not to."

"Have you lost your mind?" Reana’s voice trembled with a mix of anger and fear as she took a step back, her eyes fixed on the wound she had inflicted.

Mischief danced in his eyes. "Perhaps," he said, his voice low and husky, "but I’d rather say I’m driven by a desire to obey my Luna’s every command. Even if you tell me to die, I’ll gladly– "

’Smack!’

Reana’s palm connected with Ryder’s cheek, the sound echoing through the air. Ryder’s head snapped to the side, but when he turned back to face Reana, his smile was still firmly in place.

Reana felt bad for what she’d done, but upon seeing he’d not learned his lesson, she blurted out, "You’ve lost it," her voice a mix of frustration and concern.

Grabbing him by the hand, she dragged him towards her room, Ryder allowed himself to be dragged away, hearing her say under her breath. "You need to get that wound treated."

Even as the door closed behind them, Kira and the others still couldn’t get over the bizarre exchange they had just witnessed.

"What just happened?" Tara whispered, eyes wide with confusion.

Kira shook her head, just as perplexed. "I have no idea, but I think Luna has her hands full with that servant."

Meanwhile, behind the closed door, Reana hadn’t even spoken before Ryder shed his clothes off, revealing the full extent of the wound on his chest, as he strode to the bed and sat on the edge.

Reana’s eyes widened as she took in the sight, her expression softening into remorse.

"Ryder, why didn’t you dodge?" she asked again, her voice gentler this time.

"Because I deserved it." He said with all seriousness.

Reana’s expression faltered, taken aback by his words. She hadn’t expected him to take responsibility for his actions, or to acknowledge that he’d provoked her.

The realization sparked a mix of emotions within her, guilt, concern, and lingering frustration. Not knowing how to get through that emotional moment, she walked away, into the washroom and found a basin with a little water.

She soaked a cloth, wrung it out, and returned to Ryder. Without a word, she squatted in between his legs and began to clean the blood, only to realize it had closed up.

She stared up at him, their eyes locked. His healing abilities were faster than she’d ever seen before, especially for someone who was supposedly battling a ’wolf rot’ disease. She thought, but didn’t speak about it, her mind whirling with questions and suspicions.

As she was about to pull her hand away, he held it against his chest, his fingers wrapping around her wrist like a gentle vice. "I’m sorry for what I did," he said, his voice low and sincere. "For the humiliation, the embarrassment you feel," his eyes locked onto hers, filled with a deep regret. "I was wrong to push you that far, My Luna."

Reana searched his eyes, he wasn’t lying. Although she’d never been able to catch his lies, but this time, he meant it and she could feel it - a strange, unsettling sense of connection that seemed to vibrate between them.

A surge of heat crushed into Reana like a vortex, making her clench her teeth, finally remembering what he’d done to her. "Your apology won’t change the fact that I’m in my heat cycle and it’s all your fault," her eyes flashed with anger once more.

"I can fix that," he said, his voice low and husky. "Let me fix it."

Reana’s eyes widened, her mind racing with the implications. Of course, she knew what he meant by fixing it. There was only one way to quench this heat, to satiate the primal urge that had been awakened within her. And that was to surrender to the very thing she’d been trying to avoid - mating.

She clenched her fist, lost in thought; the idea of letting Ryder claim her first time wasn’t so bad. But what if...

Reana’s thoughts were interrupted when he pried the cloth from her fist and tossed it aside, pulling her up from the waist to straddle him. His hands settled on her hips, his fingers digging into her skin as he drew her closer, their faces inches apart.

"Let me put out the flame I started," he whispered, his lips hovering above hers.

What Reana didn’t know was that Ryder was insulting Alpha Julius for what he’d done tonight. He made his Reana touch his hard on, yet still failed to have her.

And now, Ryder would claim his woman’s first time under his roof. What better way to tell that Alpha that he was a loser? He lost to a servant.
