Chapter 68: The Wheel Of Fate Is Spinning

Chapter 68: The Wheel Of Fate Is Spinning

The sky was a deep, foreboding black, like a physical presence that suffocated her. Reana’s heightened senses were on high alert, but the silence was deafening, oppressive. It was as if the very fabric of sound had been ripped apart, leaving only an eerie stillness.

Ryder was nowhere to be found, despite having followed her out of the room. It was as if he had vanished into thin air, leaving Reana alone and vulnerable.

"Reana," a voice called, the sound sending shivers down her spine. It was familiar, yet strange, like a deja vu.

A flicker of light appeared in the distance, casting eerie shadows on the ground. Reana’s body moved of its own accord, drawn to the light like a moth to flame, as the light led her forward, into the unknown.

She tried to resist, but her legs seemed to have a mind of their own, carrying her towards the light with an unnatural, jerky gait.

As she walked, the air grew thick with an unnatural, heavy silence. The darkness seemed to writhe and twist around her, like living shadows.

"A rebel," a voice whispered beside her ear. She jumped, her head jerking to the side, but she only came face-to-face with thick darkness.

Reana’s heart trembled, but the invisible force pulled her forward again.

"He’s a rebel," came the voice again.

The sound sent a jolt of fear through Reana’s veins. She halted, her head snapping towards the sound.

’He is not!’ she subconsciously retorted, but her voice was muffled, trapped in her throat like a living thing.

Terror gripped Reana as her heart pounded in her ears from the primal fear this abyss invoked in her.

What was going on? Where was she? And where was Ryder?

The voices multiplied, chanting in low tones. "He’s a rebel. He’s not one of us." The words were like a rusty blade, scraping against Reana’s nerves and she hated it, hated them.

Suddenly, the voices grew louder, more urgent, as a vortex appeared out of nowhere, spinning towards Reana with a malevolent fury.

"Be warned, he carries the curse of the moon."

The vortex grew closer, its edges churning with an otherworldly energy. Reana raised her hands, as if to ward off the horror that was coming for her.

And then, a blinding light pierced the darkness, sending Reana stumbling backwards. She shielded her eyes with her hands, but the light seared through her eyelids, burning itself into her retina.

A strange, tingling sensation coursed through her veins, like a dark, ethereal power. Reana felt herself being drawn towards the light, as if by an unseen force.

"Welcome...Reana," a voice whispered, the sound like honey and smoke. Reana lifted her head, squinting through the glare.

A beautiful woman was suspended in the air, her silver hair flowing like a river of moonlight. Her dress seemed to dance in the windless space, like a living thing.

The moon goddess!

Reana tried to speak, but her voice was trapped in her throat. She could only stare, transfixed, as the woman’s eyes seemed to bore into her very soul.

"I have waited for you for so long," the woman’s voice was like a gentle breeze on a summer’s day, yet it sent shivers down Reana’s spine. Her eyes seemed to hold a deep, ancient wisdom, and her gaze was like a weight that pressed upon Reana’s very being. "The wheel of fate has been spun."

Reana’s mind raced with questions, but she couldn’t ask. Her heart thundered in her chest, her senses reeling as she struggled to make sense of the surreal scene unfolding before her. And yet, despite the strangeness of it all, something about this moment felt eerily familiar, like she’d been here before. Like she’d gone through this moments before.

’My Luna, come back... come to me.’ Ryder’s voice sounded in her mind, like a mindlink. Her head spun around in search of him, but the darkness around them was so thick that even the light from the goddess couldn’t brighten the whole void.

"You have been chosen again to be his –" but before the goddess could finish, Reana felt a sudden, jolting sensation, as if someone had reached out and yanked her back.

Reana’s stomach lurched as she plummeted through the void, her senses scrambled, as an earth-shattering scream tore through her vocal.

Time seemed to stretch and compress, becoming meaningless.

And then, suddenly, she landed with a jolt, or rather, sat up with a start.

Reana’s eyes flew open, and she found herself back in bed, gasping for breath, sweat clung to her like she just had her bath, her breasts rising and falling so fast, as if to outrun her hammering heart.

"It was just a dream...?" she whispered to herself, trying to shake off the lingering fear. No, a nightmare, she corrected, her mind still reeling from the vivid, unsettling images.

As her eyes struggled to focus, she locked gazes with Ryder, who sat up beside her on the bed, his eyes fixed intently on hers. It was as if he had been watching her, waiting for her to awaken from the terror that had gripped her.

"You had a nightmare?" He asked calmly.

Reana nodded slowly, her gaze drifting away from Ryder’s as she scanned the room with a sense of disorientation.

Nightmares were nothing new to her, but this one was different. Unlike her usual nightmares that she forgot about upon waking up, this one lingered, the voices ringing loudly in her head.

"What did you dream about?" He asked. He seemed very serious, unlike his usual amused looks.

Reana’s gaze returned to Ryder’s as she spelled out slowly, "The moon goddess."

The werewolves believed that when the goddess showed up in your dreams, it meant goodness, but Reana didn’t feel that way. The goddess didn’t give her that vibe.

Ryder’s gaze turned cold as he recognized what it meant; The wheel of fate had been spun. History was about to repeat itself.

His gaze drifted to their naked bodies, understanding why the moon goddess felt the need to make a move so soon.

Ryder had claimed Reana and the goddess felt it. She didn’t expect Ryder to find Reana and or have access to her body so quickly... unless, they’d fallen in love.

And so, it was time to teach Ryder a lesson again in this lifetime.

Ugly and jealous freak, Ryder cursed as he ran his fingers through his messy hair. Then, his gaze shifted to the woman beside him and pulled her close, wrapping his arms around her in a tight, protective hug. "It’s only a nightmare," he whispered, planting a reassuring kiss on her head. "No one said nightmares were lovely, ever. And nobody said they’re true either. That’s why they’re called nightmares, not dreams."

Reana breathed, snuggling into his embrace, wgete she found solace and safety.

He was right, nightmares were nightmares because they were scary and unreal. The moon goddess was kind, she couldn’t associate with dark forces. Nothing made sense in that dream... Nightmare, and she shouldn’t take it to heart.

But why did it bother her? Who was the person they were warning her about? Why did she feel like she knew him in that nightmare but upon waking up, her memories seemed shrouded in mist?

Who was the Rebel who wasn’t one of us?

A human? A monster?.... What exactly was that person?
