MATED TO THE SECRET ALPHA -
Chapter 154: Height Of His Anger
Chapter 154: Height Of His Anger
Alpha Killian rained punches on his beta while Reana watched the entertainment with relaxed air. Her pack warriors stationed outside the door had mindlinked her at the first sound of danger, but she assured them she was not involved in the mess.
Meanwhile Theon didn’t raise a hand to defend himself, despite being pummeled by his alpha’s fists. He knew better than to fight back, especially in front of outsiders. His face was soon bruised and battered, but he didn’t make a sound, even as Alpha Killian’s rage seemed to reach new heights.
Finally, Alpha Killian’s fury spent itself, and he stood panting, his chest heaving with exertion. The beta slumped forward, his face a mess of blood and bruises, but no respect or loyalty could be found in his eyes anymore. All that was left was loathing and disgust.
Reana’s gaze lingered on the beta for a moment before returning to Alpha Killian, her expression still neutral, but her eyes seemed to hold a hint of disdain. "Are you done?" she asked, her voice cool and detached. "If you are, then sit down, you’re undeserving of my whole day."
Alpha Killian’s fury that had just begun to dwindle flared at her words again. "You whore!" he spat, his face reddening with rage once more.
Reana’s expression didn’t change, but her eyes flashed with a warning. "Insults won’t serve you well here, Alpha Killian," she said, her voice still calm, but with a subtle edge. "I’m offering you a chance to save your pack. You’d do well to focus on that rather than throwing tantrums."
Her gaze flicked to the beta, who was slowly getting to his feet, his eyes fixed on Alpha Killian with everything negative. "And perhaps you should consider treating your pack members with more respect. It might serve you better in the long run."
Alpha Killian’s face twisted with anger, but he seemed to be struggling to find the right words to respond, his fury and humiliation boiling over. "Who do you think you are to tell me how to treat my pack members?"
"What does a disgusting whore like you know about men’s work? If not for the men fucking you left and right and aiding your ruling, would you boast of a prosperous pack?"
He stepped forward. She’d hurt him to his bones and he’d do the same to her. He’d wipe off that smug smile from her unfortunately, beautiful face. "I hear how you sleep around with servants. And you couldn’t even close your legs in another man’s pack.
"What?" he chuckled, "Was that why you refused to be under one man? Was it because you wanted to have every dick? Fair enough, you’re pretty and desired by many. Since you like servants so much, my pack has a lot of them. I could ship them to you to–"
He suddenly felt an overbearing presence beside him. Before he could turn, his arm was gripped with so much pressure that his eyes widened. Pain was all he could register before...
Crack!
"AHHH!!!" he screamed, a guttural howl that threatened the very foundation of the hall.
But his assaulter didn’t let go. Alpha Killian’s arm was twisted at an unnatural angle, a bone piercing out of his skin, dying his blue shirt red, and the excess blood dripping to the floor in patter.
Ryder stood beside him, he looked calm. Too calm as he stared at Alpha Killian, his grip unyielding on the dangling hand was unyielding.
"You dare to speak to her like that?" Ryder’s voice was flat, devoid of any emotions, but the suffocating aura he was radiating was telling.
No one heard the door creak open. No one heard footsteps. In fact, the door was still shut. So, how did he...?
Reana, who had been silently listening to Alpha Killian’s poisonous words, had her eyes widened so much that you’d fear for her eye sockets. She looked like she had seen a ghost. Her face had gone deathly pale, and her lips were parted slightly as if she was about to say something, but couldn’t find her voice.
Beta Theon stood frozen. Just like Reana, his face was pale and his legs were wobbling from fright.
Ryder’s calm demeanor seemed to shatter for a moment, his eyes turned to Reana and his lips curled. A subtle warmth that only belonged to her.
"Tsk." he clicked his tongue, but not out of amusement or anything fun. "My Luna is frightened. I don’t like you, Killian." With that, he yanked the arm, a sickening squelching sound filled the hall as he ruthlessly ripped it off from Alpha Killian’s shoulder with effortless grace and casually tossed it to Theon. "Send it to your people. You need a change of Alpha."
With a pause, he continued, "Become the Alpha and swear treaty to My Luna, to be her subject, starting with a quarter of your pack’s bounty every year, effective immediately. Otherwise, forget there was ever a West Wood Pack."
As casually as he could, he walked forward, shutting out Alpha Killian’s ear-splitting screams.
Ryder smiled, his casual Ryder self coming into the surface, but it couldn’t get his Luna to snap out of her trance-like state. Reana’s eyes were still wide with shock, her face pale, and her lips parted.
Ryder’s smile faltered, and he reached out to gently touch her face. "My Luna?" he whispered, his voice soft with concern. But Reana didn’t respond. She didn’t even flinch.
Ryder’s eyes narrowed, and he leaned forward, his forehead on hers, "Are you scared of me?" she still didn’t respond.
Ryder’s blood boiled. His anger, the demon he’d used every fiber of his body to suppress was wavering, seeping out slowly. And that anger wasn’t directed at his Luna.
"If you know what’s good for you, take your Alpha and leave." Ryder didn’t yell. The man had a monsterous level of control over himself.
He didn’t pull his forehead from Reana’s. He didn’t look away from her, but his message was clear and well received.
The beta snapped out of his daze and nodded hastily, his eyes wide with fear, and rushed to Alpha Killian’s side. "Let’s go," he whispered, trying to drag Alpha Killian’s battered form out of the room.
Ruder waited calmly, his breath fanning Reana’s face until they were gone, and then he pulled back, his expression softening. "My Luna?" he whispered again, his voice gentle.
But Reana still didn’t respond. Ryder’s heart sank, and he pulled her closer, holding her tight in a crushing hug. What had triggered this reaction? And how could he bring her back? He buried his face in her hair, inhaling deeply, trying to calm himself down. His anger would not touch her. Never again...
And yet, this was not the height of his anger.
