Chapter 89: Serial killer- 5••
Silas’s POV
We both ran as fast as we could and finally reached the front of the room. But the problem was—the door was closed. Atlas tried to push it open, but it wouldn’t budge. It was locked from the inside.
"Silas, the door is locked from inside!"
Hearing him, I banged on the door—hard.
"Nekol! Open the door right now!"
But no answer came from inside. The silence only made us more anxious. I started kicking the door, and seeing me, Atlas did the same.
But the door wasn’t breaking. I guess Atlas’s legs don’t have much strength.
We tried pushing it, kicking it—but nothing worked. Just as I stopped, Atlas kicked again, and this time, the door broke open.
As soon as it did, we rushed in.
And what we saw made my blood run cold.
Nekol was sitting on top of Evan, holding a knife to his neck. There was blood on Evan’s neck too.
Fear gripped me. Were we too late? Did Nekol already kill him?
But then—I noticed Evan’s chest. It was rising and falling slowly. He was breathing. He was alive.
"Nekol! What the hell are you doing?! Get off Evan right now!" I shouted.
"Stay away! Don’t come any closer, or I’ll stab this knife into his body!"
"Nekol, he’s already dead. Come down, and let’s talk calmly. Why are you killing Evan? He didn’t do anything wrong!"
"No! I won’t come down until I finish him off completely!"
"He’s my younger brother! How can you harm him?! He’s still so young! Please, don’t do anything to him, Nekol! Listen to me!" Atlas said.
"NOOOO!"
My eyes widened. Was this a new side of Nekol? Or was this his real personality? I was confused. But more than that, my biggest concern was—how do I save Evan?
Whoever takes a step forward, Nekol will stab them.
I took a deep breath and then said, "Nekol, don’t tell me you’re doing this because of your boyfriend."
As soon as I said that, Nekol’s head snapped toward me.
Got him.
I was just guessing, but his reaction told me I was right.
He was killing all these omegas the same way—because of his boyfriend.
"Nekol, I get it. You loved your boyfriend. But why are you killing innocent omegas?"
"Innocent?!" Nekol spat. "Because of these omegas, my boyfriend cheated on me! These omegas know nothing except seducing Alphas like some kind of bítch!"
As he ranted, I saw my chance.
I rushed forward and tackled him off Evan. He fell to the ground, and his knife slipped from his hand. Atlas immediately ran in and pulled his brother out of there. Evan was still hurt.
As Atlas carried Evan out of the room, Nekol tried to go after them, but I grabbed his hand and threw him back down.
"Where the hell do you think you’re going? We’re just getting started."
Nekol and I fought. He didn’t hold back—and neither did I. But he was more injured than me. After all, I hit him more.
"Why the hell were you killing them?!"
"Silas, why didn’t you die that night?! I even set up the whole scene and gave him the keys, yet he still couldn’t kill you! That useless bastard!"
So it was really Nekol.
He was the one who gave the keys to that man.
He was the one who told him I’d be alone that night.
Hearing that, one thing became clear.
Whoever I trust the most... ends up betraying me.
I could see it now—I don’t have the ability to see people’s true colors. But I will have to learn.
I sat on the sofa, panting. Nekol was sitting on the floor.
"What you did was really wrong, Nekol," I said.
"Really? Now a bítch like you is going to tell me what’s wrong? When you’re sleeping around just to be famous?"
As soon as I heard that, I stood up and slapped him.
"Even after living with me, you never understood me, huh? I’m not that lowly of a person who will sleep around to be famous. Only a disgusting person like you would think that!"
"No thief ever admits they stole something."
Some people... they don’t want to hear the truth.
They just want to judge others however they like.
Just then, the police arrived. Atlas must have called them. They took Nekol away. As they dragged him out, he glared at me.
Great. Now what? Is he going to try to get revenge on me too?
As they left, Atlas came back inside.
"SILAS!"
"Atlas, I’m not deaf. I can hear everything. Why are you shouting?"
"You got stabbed in the stomach! Didn’t you realize?!"
Hearing him, I looked down.
Man... I really got stabbed.
When did that happen? I didn’t even feel it.
For a moment, I really thought I was going to die.
"Silas, I’m calling the doctor! Nothing’s going to happen to you!"
"It’s just a small wound. It’s like a scratch to me. Don’t worry too much."
I didn’t want to show Atlas that I was scared. So I pretended to be strong.
As the doctor arrived and they took me to another room, everything went black.
---
"I was gone for just a few days, and Silas is in the hospital? And stabbed by his own manager?! Mr. Damon, how are you hiring staff in your company? Don’t tell me you only look at faces?"
It was Lysander’s voice.
I wanted to open my eyes, but they wouldn’t move.
"The HR department hired him. Why are you blaming me? And did you forget that you work in my company?"
That’s Damon’s voice.
So... Lysander and Damon are both here.
Just then, I felt a squeeze on my hand.
"Shorty, you’re awake... Why aren’t you opening your eyes?"
I snapped my eyes open.
Theron was by my right side.
Damon was on my left.
And beside Theron, Lysander was standing.
All three of them had worried expressions on their faces.
