Chapter 70: Home alone - 1

Silas’s POV

"So, what happened with that Ciel?" Damon asked.

"You already know, so why are you asking me?"

Obviously, if he knows about me giving up the audition, he must know about this as well.

"No, I don’t know anything."

"Mr. Damon, you can’t lie, right? There’s a smile on your face right now."

Damon looked ahead with a proud expression, and I was like—what is happening, dude?

"Silas, do you remember a photographer taking your pictures while you were shooting the drama? Those photos have come out now."

"For some reason, there was a delay, but now that they’re out, you look incredibly gorgeous. That photographer even uploaded them on his Stargram account and tagged you too."

I was happy. I quickly took out my phone and checked—I had a tagging notification. When I clicked on it, the photographer’s account opened, and there it was.

The post.

In the pictures, I really looked hot, wearing designer clothes.

I knew I was beautiful, but I never imagined I was this beautiful.

After that, time passed without me even realizing it, and soon, evening arrived.

"Okay then, Mr. Damon, I’ll take my leave now," I said as Damon was on a call with his brother. He nodded while talking and waved at me to say goodbye.

I also waved and walked out of the office, but Atlas wasn’t there.

I called him while stepping into the elevator, but he didn’t pick up and sent a message instead.

[Atlas: I was bored sitting there, so I went out to get some fresh air. I’m in the car now.]

So he was in the car. I stepped out of the building and got into the backseat. Atlas started driving.

"You look tired, Silas."

"Do I?"

I didn’t even do much today, yet I still felt tired. Funny. My body really felt heavy, though.

Just then, I remembered—Atlas usually goes home around this time because his younger brother waits for him.

"Is it just you and your younger brother in your family?" I asked.

Atlas went silent for a moment before answering.

"Yeah, it’s just me and my younger brother now... The rest of my family was killed by someone."

"I’m sorry to hear that," I said sincerely.

"It’s alright. That’s the reason I became a bodyguard—to find the killer. He was an actor. I still remember... that’s what he said before killing my whole family. I survived by luck, and my younger brother was at a friend’s house that night, so he was safe too."

"So, Atlas... do you know who he is?"

"No, I don’t remember his face or know his name. But I remember his voice. I’ll track him down through that."

"All the best."

What else could I say? It’s not like I could give him tips on how to catch a murderer. All I could do was wish him luck.

"Thank you, Silas."

He focused on driving, and I didn’t say anything after that. I just gazed out at the road, watching the night view.

Soon, we arrived at my apartment. A few bodyguards were still standing outside my building, and even in the lobby.

As we stepped inside, Atlas asked, "Silas, are you hungry? Should I make something for you or order takeout?"

"Nope, I’m not hungry. I already ate cake, so my stomach is full."

Eating too many sweets isn’t good for health, but once in a while is okay.

And today’s dessert was from Damon—I didn’t buy it myself. That means I can buy one tomorrow with my money, and it won’t count, hehe.

I glanced at Atlas, who was switching on the lights in the apartment.

"Don’t turn them all on. I can’t sleep when there are too many lights."

Atlas quickly turned them off. The light from the balcony was coming in, but it was still too dark, so I turned on the living room lights.

"Atlas, you can go home now. Your brother must be waiting for you."

"Okay then... but will you be fine by yourself? Won’t you feel lonely in this big apartment?"

I smiled. "Nope, I won’t. So go quickly—don’t make your brother wait."

"Sure. But if you need anything, just call me. There are bodyguards in the lobby, so don’t be scared. Get some rest."

Atlas bowed slightly before leaving. Once he was gone, I locked the door from inside.

When I turned around, I realized—

I was alone.

In this whole house.

But I shouldn’t be scared anymore. I’m all grown up now. How can I still be afraid of ghosts?

My gaze flickered toward the kitchen. The lights were off.

I quickly ran to the kitchen and switched them on.

Standing in the living room, I looked around at the silent house.

I was the only one here.

And because of that, I could hear everything.

Every tiny sound.

Each one making me flinch in the worst way possible.

And then—

I don’t know why, but I felt like someone was watching me.

My heartbeat picked up.

So many scary thoughts started flooding my mind—like they were throwing a party in there.

I glanced around and noticed—Nekol’s room door was open.

The lights were off.

But I didn’t have the courage to go in and turn them on.

So I rushed into my room instead—

And locked the door.

Even after locking the door, my heart was still beating fast. My mind kept imagining that someone would knock on my room’s door from outside at any moment.

But that was just my imagination.

Nothing like that happened.

But even just thinking about those thoughts made me shiver. I felt like I should call Damon and tell him that I was scared being home alone.

But I didn’t do that. Instead, I opened my wardrobe, took out my clothes, and went into the bathroom to take a shower.

However, while I was in the shower, I couldn’t shake off the feeling that someone was out there.

I was so scared that I finished my shower in just five minutes, quickly put on my clothes, and rushed out of the bathroom.
