Chapter 71: Home alone - 2

Silas’s POV

When I came out of the bathroom, my eyes darted around while my heart pounded like crazy.

But I didn’t see anyone or anything strange, which was a relief. I sat on the bed, seriously considering staying awake the whole night.

Because when you’re scared, you can’t fall asleep. Obviously, I’d feel like if I did, a ghost would take the chance to kill me, thinking, Oh, he’s sleeping? Perfect time to strike.

But then, I got thirsty. And honestly, locking the room’s door when I was alone in the apartment didn’t make much sense.

So, I grabbed my phone, stood up, and slowly opened the door, glancing outside. Of course, it was empty.

I felt like I was in some Hollywood horror movie where the MC encounters a ghost in the middle of the night inside his own damn house.

But unlike those foolish movie characters, if I ever noticed something strange, I’d run out of the house immediately. Yes, that would be the best choice.

I stepped out of my bedroom and went straight to the kitchen. Opening the fridge, I grabbed a bottle and took a few gulps of water.

But even as I drank, that eerie feeling lingered—like someone was watching me.

I glanced around. Something felt off. When Nekol was here, this house never felt like this.

Gathering my courage, I went into Nekol’s room, turned on the lights, and checked the bathroom, scanning every corner. But there was nothing.

I had officially become a detective, investigating ghosts in my own house... because I was scared.

To make sure, I checked every room, confirming there was no ghost, no intruder, no weird presence.

Finally, I sighed in relief, plopped onto the sofa, and turned on the TV. A comedy movie was playing.

"It’s funny," I laughed, feeling a bit better.

But something still felt off. So, I brought my blanket and pillow from my room and wrapped myself in the blanket while sitting on the sofa.

Somehow, being covered made me feel safer, like it was a protective barrier. As long as I have this barrier, no ghost can touch me.

The movie was a bit slow at the start, so I got bored and grabbed my phone, scrolling through my feed. Then, by mistake, I clicked on a news article.

(News Anchor: A new wave of fear is spreading—a serial killer targeting omegas has been discovered.

This killer sneaks into homes where omegas live alone, hiding inside their bedroom wardrobes.

Many victims have reported the eerie sensation of being watched before the killer finally attacks—violating and murdering them.

However, for the first time, a victim has survived and revealed everything to the police. Unfortunately, he didn’t see the killer’s face.

If you’re experiencing a similar feeling, leave your house immediately. Who knows? That killer might already be inside.)

As I read the article, a chill ran down my spine.

I suddenly remembered—I had been feeling watched from my bedroom. And when I checked the entire house earlier, I didn’t check inside Nekol’s wardrobe.

My eyes slowly turned toward Nekol’s room. My heartbeat pounded in my ears.

The room’s light was still on, but something about it felt... off. Like any second now, someone would step out from there.

But nothing happened.

Even after five minutes, my fear didn’t fade. My poor heart was still racing.

Wait... this is just my imagination, right?

There’s no way someone could sneak into my house. There are bodyguards outside the building, even in the lobby.

The doors were locked. The keys were with me. There were no signs of a break-in.

If someone had sneaked in, Atlas would’ve noticed—he’s a bodyguard, after all.

Shaking off my paranoia, I forced myself to focus on the TV.

I read some memes while watching the movie, trying to distract myself. It helped a little.

Then, I replied to Lysander and Theron’s messages too, acting like everything was normal—like I wasn’t scared out of my mind just a few minutes ago.

Before I knew it, it was already 1:10 AM. My eyes felt heavy, and my fear had faded while watching the movie. It was funny, after all.

I had almost forgotten about being scared, which was a relief. I realized that when you’re terrified, your mind starts imagining things that aren’t real.

Grabbing my phone and pillow, I remained fully wrapped in my blanket as I stood up.

And then—

Creak.

A soft sound echoed through the silent apartment.

My heart skipped a beat.

My eyes immediately darted toward Nekol’s room. I didn’t know what that sound was, but there was no way it could’ve happened unless... unless someone was really inside.

Once again, fear surged through me, wrapping around me like chains. I didn’t know what to do. I just stood there, staring at Nekol’s room, my breathing shallow.

Please, God, I’m already scared. Don’t make it worse.

Even though I tried hard to calm myself, it wasn’t working. My heart and mind refused to accept that there was nothing in that room.

I never thought living in a luxurious apartment could be this scary.

The only thing I could think of was leaving the apartment. There were bodyguards outside—it would be fine.

Even if they make fun of me later, saying I’m still scared of ghosts, I don’t care. Right now, the safest option is to go to those bodyguards.

I quickly took big steps toward the door, not daring to take my eyes off Nekol’s room.

There was nothing—just as I had hoped. Nothing should happen as long as I step out of the house.

Just then, I looked ahead, grabbed the door handle to open it But just as I was about to open it—

I glanced back, and my eyes widened in shock at what I saw.

A shadow.

A shadow slowly emerged from Nekol’s room.

The moment I saw it, I had a mini heart attack.

I quickly unlocked the door, my hands trembling as panic surged through me.

And then...
