Chapter 51: The Dark Valley - 4

Chapter 51: The Dark Valley - 4

Silas’s POV

"What are you looking at?" I asked.

"I’m checking if anyone is around or not because I’m kinda sleepy right now. I thought I should ask them for a blanket and a pillow."

"You’re kidding, right?"

As I asked, Theron glanced at me with a smile. Of course, he was joking, but couldn’t he at least consider our situation before making a joke?

"But Theron, you have amazing strength. Can you tell me how you got it?"

We were in a dungeon, and it wasn’t like staying silent would help us escape any faster. So why not talk to kill time? I was sure Nekol must have realized by now that I had disappeared, and Theron’s brothers too—they must have started searching for us.

"When I was born, I heard I was really weak. Unlike other Alphas, I couldn’t even stand on my legs. My parents always gave me extra care. But when I was ten, someone bullied my younger brother."

As he spoke, he suddenly sat down, so I sat beside him. I had a feeling there was a deeper story behind his strength, and I was sure I’d end up crying by the end of it.

"When I saw them bullying him—he was badly hurt—that’s when I realized if I didn’t want to be bullied, I had to become powerful. So, I went into the mountains and started meditating."

"And guess what? In five years, I became a great fighter. After that, I was never scared of anyone."

Wait... something seemed off about his story. He meditated for five years, so how did he become a fighter instead of a monk?

I glared at Theron. "Hey, you’re lying, right?"

"Hehehe... You got me."

"Are you out of your mind? I really thought you were telling the truth! Can’t you just be honest for once?"

"Of course, I can. I’m an Alpha... Happy now?"

"DUDE... Am I a joke to you?"

"No, you’re Silas, not a joke."

Man, he was really difficult to talk to. No matter what I said, he always had a comeback. I was starting to feel like he was roasting me back-to-back. I shouldn’t have talked to him in the first place. I turned away and stared ahead.

"Why did you suddenly go silent? Are you hurt somewhere? Or are you sleepy? Don’t tell me you’re hungry."

"THERON, CAN YOU SHUT YOUR MOUTH FOR A MOMENT?!" I shouted.

"Okay, if you don’t want me to talk, I can cut my tongue too."

"Dude, that’s too much! I just told you to shut up, not cut your tongue!"

He didn’t reply and just looked ahead. Our phones were gone too, of course—they had taken them. And now, I had no idea what was going to happen to us. First, they were talking about eating us because we had entered their territory. But now, we had injured their members. That guy in the black mask said he was the boss’s right-hand man—great, we injured him too.

I was sure they were thinking of ways to kill us. Just imagining it gave me goosebumps.

Theron stayed quiet like I told him, but now, the silence felt eerie—like no one else was alive here. I could hear my own heartbeat and breathing. It was unsettling.

"Theron, what should we do now?"

Instead of answering, he turned his head away like he was still mad at me.

"Why aren’t you replying? I just told you to be quiet—I didn’t say never talk again!"

"But you’re the first person who’s ever told me to be quiet. I’m hurt."

Oh god. He gave me a headache when he talked, and now that he wasn’t talking, he was still giving me a headache. What was I supposed to do?!

Just then, we heard footsteps approaching. We both stood up quickly and moved closer to the bars to look outside. A man appeared in front of us.

Red hair. Red eyes. Dusky skin. His build was similar to Theron’s.

"So, you two are the intruders who brutally beat up our men?" the red-haired guy said.

"They were about to eat us! That’s why we fought them. Technically, it was self-defense. And we ended up here by mistake," I explained.

He seemed to be listening carefully to every word I said.

"Woah... Who is this Omega, Theron?"

My eyes widened the moment he said Theron’s name. Wait—how did this guy know Theron? Did they know each other? I glanced at Theron, and he was staring straight into the red-haired guy’s eyes. The guy was doing the same.

"Man, it’s been a long time. How have you been?" Theron said.

I was shocked. So he did know him!

"Theron, you know this red-haired guy?" I pointed at him.

"Hey, Omega... Who are you calling ’red-haired guy’? I have a name! And don’t you know how to respect others?"

"No, I don’t. I never read anywhere that I should respect an old man who looks like a dog," I said with full attitude.

"HEY!" the guy shouted.

Just then, Theron wrapped his arm around my shoulders. "Shorty, be good and don’t fight."

...What did he just call me? Shorty? How dare he?! I started glaring at Theron, but he wasn’t even looking at me—his focus was on the red-haired guy.

"So, how did you end up here, Theron? The moment I heard about this mess, I had a hunch it was you."

"We came here by mistake. I really wasn’t planning on hitting anyone—you know I don’t show my strength unless it’s necessary. But they slapped my Shorty, and that boiled my blood."

As he spoke, he ruffled my hair. I tried to push his hand away, but instead, he pulled me closer by grabbing my neck.

"Theron, don’t touch me!"

As soon as I said that, he let go and continued talking to the red-haired guy.

"The boss has called for both of you. He wants to see who caused this mess, so... you’re both screwed now."

"What?! Your boss called for us? Is he going to kill us?!" I asked.

"It’s nothing serious, Shorty," Theron said.

...Wait. He was suddenly calling me Shorty?! I was sure he had been calling me by my name before.

Just then, the red-haired guy started whispering into Theron’s ear. I couldn’t hear a word they were saying—especially since they were both so tall.

"Hey! Tell me too! What are you two whispering about?"
