Mated to Four Alphas

Chapter 141: Lupin pack - 36

Lysnder’s POV

As I ask, those two glance at each other and then look back at me while taking steps back. I don’t understand what is happening.

"Give us that kid."

Wait, they want a kid? Huh? Is this a joke? I glance at Brother Theron, who is standing there holding the kid—a delicate, fragile little thing.

And that kid is wrapping his hands around Brother Theron’s neck. They really look alike, almost as if this kid is Theron bro’s real son.

I turn my whole attention to those two soldiers.

"Why do you want that little kid? Tell me. Wait... I remember you. You were in the ward too, right? The one who was fighting with Silas to take this kiddo."

"No, we are not."

But I feel like this soldier was the one in the room a while back, even if he’s denying it now.

And just in a moment, those two soldiers push me. I wasn’t paying attention, so I almost fell back. But Kael came and caught me just in time.

"Be careful."

I balanced myself and stood up straight. That was seriously pathetic behavior, and I was so angry.

But as I turned to the soldiers, I saw that Kael had already reached them. His expression showed he had lost his temper.

Kael gets angry over small things, but when he gets angry over big things, it’s a really big deal.

Without a second thought, Kael grabs one of the soldiers by the collar and throws him to the ground. The soldier falls on his stomach, his face hitting the ground hard.

As soon as he falls, Kael kicks him on the back and grabs the other one, punching him in the face. Just one punch, and the soldier’s mouth is bleeding.

Honestly, I didn’t feel like saving those soldiers—they deserved it. They tried to fool us and kept circling the same area. I knew if I should intervene, they still deserved punishment.

And why the hell are they after this little kiddo? What do they want from him? First, they claimed the kid was infected and needed to be taken to the lab, and now they’re just blatantly saying they want him. Are they even real soldiers?

In the next 10 minutes, Kael beats the hell out of them, like he was about to kill them. But just then...

"Kael, enough," Brother Theron says.

He approaches the soldiers, likely to interrogate them. The kid is still in Brother Theron’s arms, and I think we need to find out what these soldiers are really after.

"Tell me honestly, who sent you? Is it your king giving this order, or someone else?"

Brother Theron glares at them, but those two keep staring at the kid in his arms.

When they don’t answer, Kael gets angrier and kicks them again.

"Didn’t you hear what my brother asked? Answer him."

They’re like animals. Unless we beat them, they’re not going to obey us.

"We can’t say who sent us. Otherwise, he’ll kill us brutally."

They’re scared of the person who gave them this order, someone who would kill them brutally. But they don’t realize that my brother Theron, standing before them, is no less dangerous.

They don’t know how brutal and ruthless he can be. He doesn’t show mercy to anyone.

People often mistake his cheerful, joking personality for his true self, but it’s just a mask he’s worn since childhood.

I never knew why he changed his personality so suddenly back then, but I’m sure something was wrong. His sudden change was so cheerful that no one dared to ask why it happened.

These soldiers have invited their own deaths. No one can save them now. Hearing their words, Brother Theron gently puts the kid down on the ground and bends toward the soldiers.

"Hey, I think I’ve heard this before. Did the temple send you again?"

Huh? What temple? But as soon as Brother Theron asks that, the soldiers’ faces turn pale, like they’ve seen a ghost.

That means Brother Theron is right. But what does he mean by "again"? Was there another incident with the temple that I don’t know about...? Wait, is this related to Silas’s kidnapping?

"H-How do you know the temple hired us?"

One of the soldiers stammers in a trembling voice, clearly terrified. I don’t know what’s so scary about this person they’re afraid of, but one thing is clear—whoever that person is, they’re not just Silas’s enemy, but ours too.

"It was a piece of cake for me to find out. But can you tell me what this person looks like? I’m curious to see what my enemy looks like. Are they a man or a woman, Alpha, Omega, or Beta? Come on, tell me quickly."

As Brother Theron puts the kid down, the little one suddenly runs toward me and clings to my pants tightly. He looks so cute—I just want to pinch his chubby cheeks.

I extend my hand and pat his head. When he looks up, he’s sucking on his fingers. I’ve seen kids suck their thumbs, but this one is sucking all his fingers.

I quickly squat down and gently pull his fingers out of his mouth. They are wet, but I don’t have a handkerchief, so I wipe them with my shirt.

"Here you go. Your fingers are all clean now, so don’t suck them again—it’s a bad habit."

But as soon as I say that, he starts sucking his thumb again. Is he that hungry? Is that why he’s sucking his fingers?

Thank God I was still squatting, so I quickly took his fingers out of his mouth again.

"Don’t suck them, kiddo. If you’re bored, we can talk."

The kid immediately stopped and pulled his thumb out of his mouth.

"So, how’s it going? Everything fine in life or not?" I asked casually.

"What can I say? Everything’s a mess. I don’t know what to do anymore."

Hearing that, my eyes widened. What is this kid saying? He’s totally talking like a grown-up man who’s tired of working for his family.
