Chapter 139: Lupin pack - 34
Silas’s POV
I was so scared that I couldn’t even put it into words. But there was one thing—I saw only eyes, no face.
If it were a living person, there should have been a face, but there were just eyes surrounded by black fog. I couldn’t even tell if it was a man or a woman.
"Mr. Damon, believe me, I saw someone with my own eyes, but that thing didn’t have a face or a body—just eyes."
"Sure, I believe you. But let’s get out of here right now."
We glanced around, ready to leave, but there was no car, no bus—nothing. It was already night, and darkness covered everything.
And as if our problems weren’t enough, we heard a howling sound. Great, now we were in trouble from both sides.
We both looked around to find where the sound was coming from. Then we realized it was right behind us. When we turned, there was nothing—just bushes. And then, out of nowhere, a wolf jumped out.
But these wolves had red eyes, glaring at us like they could kill us at any moment. They were growling fiercely, saliva dripping from their mouths.
I glanced at Damon and grabbed his hand, thinking that running away might be the only option.
We couldn’t fight those wolves. If Kael were here, it would be a different story. I’ve seen him shift before; he could handle this.
But Kael wasn’t here now, and it was just me and Damon. I glanced around, desperately searching for anything to use as a weapon, but there was nothing. The wolves were getting closer, and my worry grew.
I gripped Damon’s arm with both hands, panic seeping into my voice. "What should we do now, Mr. Damon? This is the end for us."
"Just stay behind me, Silas. Nothing is going to happen. Don’t worry, I’m here."
Damon looked around—I wasn’t sure what he was searching for, maybe a weapon. Suddenly, he took off his glasses and handed them to me.
"Hold my glasses. And don’t move from your spot, not even an inch."
I stood there, clutching his glasses. Damon stepped forward, letting go of my hand. As he moved away, my fear intensified, and the wolves drew closer to him.
What if they attacked him? What if he got hurt? What if something terrible happened? How would I face his brothers when they returned?
Then, Damon suddenly started running toward the wolves. My heart pounded wildly, matching his pace.
In a swift moment, he shifted into his true form—a massive, black wolf, much bigger than the others, standing right in front of them.
His black fur reminded me of Velric’s true form, the same dark color.
I guess some people share the same fur color too. Without hesitation, Damon began attacking the wolves mercilessly.
My eyes widened, watching him fight. He looked so strong, so fearless. Even if I shifted, I wouldn’t be as big as him.
His presence was like a true alpha—a king of the pack. These wolves were nothing in front of him. That’s why he is the next king of the Bloodfang pack. I can see that.
When he knocked them down, some lay lifeless. They had lost their minds, and he had no choice but to fight back. After finishing them off, he turned to me.
A sense of déjà vu washed over me. Was he going to pass out like Kael? Would I need to carry him?
But Damon looked even heavier than Kael. It had been hard back then, and at least Little Kid was there to help.
But then, Damon began walking toward me.
"I’m not your enemy, right? So, please don’t scare me like this," I whispered nervously.
He stopped right in front of me.
"Come on, hop on."
"Huh? What do you mean, hop on?"
"Sit on me right now. We need to leave. Didn’t you hear me?"
"No, Mr. Damon, I’m heavy... How can I sit on you? No, no, I can’t do this."
Hearing my hesitation, Damon glanced toward the hospital—right where I had seen those eyes.
"There is someone there. I saw them too—whatever that thing is. If you don’t get on now, it might come for you. Or maybe it’s a ’she.’ Who knows?"
The moment he said that, I quickly climbed onto his back. Even in my human form, I felt so small compared to him. I grabbed onto his fur tightly.
"Hold on tight if you don’t want to fall," Damon warned.
With that, he began to run, each step sending a jolt through my whole body.
I had no choice but to lean forward, pressing my stomach against his back and hugging him tightly. It felt like I was lying on my stomach, just in a completely different way.
His fur was so soft and silky, even at night it was glowing. While hugging him, my hands moved on their own and rubbed Damon’s fur.
"Ugh... Silas, behave yourself. Don’t do anything naughty."
"Huh? What did I do?"
Why was he reacting like this? It’s not like I touched his tail or ears—I just rubbed his fur, and that too for a second.
I could clearly hear my own heartbeat pounding fast as my body was pressed against his. But the main question now was—where were we going?
"Where are we going?" I asked.
"Don’t know. I’m just running and trying to find a safe place."
What? The way he was running, I really thought he knew some kind of place—that’s why he looked so confident. But he didn’t even know where to go...
"You’re not feeling tired because of my weight, right?" I asked.
Of course, I was worried. I’d never ridden a wolf in my whole life, and suddenly, I was riding on the next king of another pack. It was indeed uncomfortable.
"What are you saying? You’re as light as a feather. I could carry you around like this my whole life."
"Mr. Damon, you’re very cheeky, you know that?"
"Yeah."
