Chapter 125: Lupin pack - 20
Kael’s POV
As that wolf was about to attack us, I didn’t know what happened. At that moment, I just thought—if only I could shift right now, I would take that wolf down.
And suddenly, my body started to shift. I had no idea how. For a second, I even thought I was infected. But then, I fully shifted.
After transforming, I fought the wolf. I didn’t want to kill him, so I only knocked him down. But the moment I glanced at Silas... everything went black. I passed out.
When I opened my eyes, I was in an ambulance. And that little guy—Velric—was on top of me, crying his heart out like I had literally died.
But I was still alive! And yet, there he was, clinging to my chest like I was about to disappear.
Before I could even say anything, he lay down on top of me and hugged me tightly. That’s when I instinctively patted his back, trying to comfort him.
Because that little guy was crying for me.
He was worried about me.
And where is Silas? What happened to that wolf I knocked down?
Did anyone else see me shift besides Silas and this little guy?
But even if someone did... so what?
What could they possibly do to me?
They can’t do anything.
I moved and sat up. The moment I did, a sharp pain spread through my body, but I ignored it and forced myself upright.
Yet, that little guy was still clinging to me—just like how baby monkeys latch onto their mothers, refusing to let go.
Honestly, we could even compare it to a kangaroo and its joey... except I didn’t have a pouch to carry him in. But that didn’t stop him from treating me like one.
"Little guy, how long are you going to hug me?" I asked, raising a brow.
He lifted his head slightly, glanced at me... and then, without a word, buried his face back into my chest, refusing to let go.
Just then, the ambulance door swung open. My gaze immediately shifted toward the entrance, and the moment I saw who was standing there, my breath hitched.
"Kael!"
"Brother!"
"Kael!"
Damon, Theron, and Lysander were all there, looking straight at me.
For a moment, I just stared at them, my mind struggling to process. Were they really here?
Or was I just hallucinating?
I quickly stepped out of the ambulance, but the little guy was still clinging to me. So, without a choice, I carried him in my arms as I walked outside.
My brothers stood there, their faces filled with worry and concern.
Theron stepped forward, arms slightly raised, as if he was about to hug me—until his eyes landed on the child in my arms.
"Kael, who is this kid?" he asked, his tone curious yet cautious.
I glanced down at the little guy. His big, round eyes were fixed on me, filled with anticipation—almost like he was just as eager to hear my answer as everyone else.
"Hmm, this kid is... Hmm..."
I hesitated, my mind scrambling for an answer. No matter what I said, it was going to create a mess.
If I said he was my son, the little guy would be happy—but my brothers? Oh, they’d definitely make things worse.
But if I said I didn’t know him... this kid would probably cry his heart out, and that would be an even bigger disaster.
For the first time in my life, I was actually thinking about someone else’s feelings more than my own.
Just then, the little guy turned his head to glance behind him, curious about who was standing there.
And the moment he saw them, his eyes lit up, and he suddenly shouted—
"Daddies... You’re all here?!"
The words had barely left his mouth when my brothers’ eyes went wide in shock. Their mouths practically dropped open.
And honestly? Mine did too.
This little guy had been calling me Papa all this time... but now he was calling my brothers Daddies too?!
"Kael, what the hell is this? Why is this kid calling us Daddy?"
Damon’s voice was cold—sharp enough to make anyone flinch. And I knew exactly why.
He hated kids. He wouldn’t even go near them, let alone tolerate being called Daddy.
Before I could even think of a response, the little guy suddenly squirmed in my arms, wanting to get down.
I hesitated but let him go.
The moment his feet touched the ground, he didn’t even look back—he just ran straight to my brothers.
And to my utter shock, he hugged Theron’s leg tightly.
Theron quickly picked up the little guy in his arms, smiling as he ruffled his hair.
"Aww... where did this little fighter come from?" he said, his tone surprisingly gentle.
Before I could react, Damon’s voice cut through the moment.
"Kael, where is Silas?"
At his words, I blinked and glanced around. Now that I thought about it... where was Silas?
When I woke up, I didn’t see him. The only one I saw was this little guy.
I scanned the area and finally spotted him—Silas was a little further away, helping the military along with Shine.
"He’s over there, helping others," I said, nodding in his direction.
The moment my brothers heard me, they all turned to look.
And as soon as they saw Silas, they didn’t even spare me another glance.
Without a word, the three of them immediately walked toward him, completely ignoring me.
They all went straight to Silas, leaving me standing there like an afterthought.
So what was I supposed to do? Just stand here and watch?
Of course not.
I sighed and followed behind them.
Silas, however, was completely oblivious to our approach. He was too busy wiping down a chair, focused on his task.
Just then, Theron reached out and placed a hand on his shoulder from behind.
Silas flinched at the unexpected touch, his body tensing.
And when he turned around—his eyes widened in surprise as he finally saw us standing there.
