Chapter 124: Lupin pack - 19

Silas’s POV

I knelt beside Velric, gently squeezing his hand. "Velric, don’t worry. Kael is totally fine. He’ll wake up soon."

But Velric shook his head. "I want to stay with Papa."

Seeing how determined he was, I decided to let him stay.

I helped him into the ambulance, where he sat beside Kael, watching over him. Kael was still unconscious, and aside from the two of them, no one else was inside.

After making sure Velric was settled, I stepped outside, After stepping outside, I instinctively glanced back into the ambulance.

What I saw made me pause.

Velric was staring at Kael, his small face full of concern.

Then, without a word, he climbed onto Kael’s chest and lay down on top of him.

I stood there for a moment, watching.

He truly saw Kael as his father. That much was clear.

The way he clung to him, the way he refused to leave his side—I didn’t need words to understand how much he cared.

As I glanced around, I spotted Shine working with the military, assisting the other patients.

Without hesitation, I walked over and started helping too.

( No one’s POV )

Somewhere in the morning, the sun’s light glimmered through the window, casting a warm glow inside the room. Birds chirped outside, filling the air with a melody of freshness. Everything—nature, the vibe—spoke only of happiness.

On the bed, a little boy was lost in his dreamland. Just then, the door creaked open, and someone stepped inside, gently sitting beside him and patting his head.

"Velric, wake up, my boy. It’s already morning. Don’t tell me you’re not going to wake up? Then your Lan Dad is going to eat all your food."

Hearing that, the little boy’s eyes snapped open. A bright smile spread across his face the moment he saw the person in front of him.

"Mumma... can’t I sleep a little more? I’m so sleepy."

His voice was soft, filled with warmth and innocence.

"You can if you don’t want to play with your daddies. They took the day off from work just for you. It’s up to you now."

The moment Velric heard that, he quickly sat up and stood on the bed.

"Daddies are here? I want to play with them! Where are they?"

"Before meeting them, let’s take a bath first, okay?"

Velric eagerly nodded and followed the person into the bathroom.

As that person placed Velric into the bathtub, the maids approached, ready to assist him with his bath.

"No need. I will help my son bathe. You all can leave."

"Yes, Your Majesty," the maids responded respectfully before leaving the room.

"Velric, my boy, today is your birthday. You’re turning five today, so enjoy your day to the fullest."

"Mhmm," Velric hummed in response, his eyes shining with happiness.

With gentle hands, that person carefully washed Velric’s hair, gave him a refreshing bath, and then dressed him in adorable clothes, making sure he looked his best for his special day.

"Mumma, let me see your eyes. There’s something in them," Velric said, leaning closer.

"Velric, didn’t I tell you many times not to use your ability on me?"

Velric had possessed this ability since birth. If he stared into someone’s eyes for five seconds, he could hear the thoughts they were currently thinking.

After that, the person brought Velric outside the palace, where four people were already waiting for them.

One of them was happily eating cake, two were engaged in conversation, and the last one sat quietly on a chair, gazing at the sky.

The moment they heard Velric’s giggles, they all turned toward him. Seeing him, their faces lit up with joy.

Without hesitation, they ran to Velric, picked him up, and spun him around in the air, making him laugh even louder.

They played with him the whole day, showering him with cookies, cakes, and endless affection.

That day became the happiest day of Velric’s life.

But in an instant, that joyful scene shattered into darkness. It felt as if everything was ending.

Velric suddenly found himself in a dark palace. His small hands were stained with blood, and lifeless bodies lay scattered before him. He was crying uncontrollably, his sobs echoing through the eerie silence.

He was cradled in someone’s arms—arms that no longer held warmth.

The lifeless body behind him still embraced him tightly, as if refusing to let go, even in death. That was how this person had died—protecting him until their last breath.

"No... No... Mumma... Daddies... You can’t leave me like this!"

"Noooooooooo!"

Velric’s heart-wrenching scream pierced through the darkness.

And then—his eyes snapped open.

He was no longer in the dark palace. He was inside an ambulance.

Velric was lying on top of Kael’s chest. The moment he realized it, his eyes welled up with tears, and he started crying.

"Papa, wake up... Please don’t leave me alone. Please... I promise I’ll be a good boy, but don’t ever leave me again..."

Velric sobbed, his tiny hands clutching Kael’s clothes tightly. He didn’t want to lose him. He couldn’t bear it.

Just then, as if responding to his desperate cries, Kael finally stirred. His eyes fluttered open slightly.

The first thing he saw was Velric sitting on top of him, crying uncontrollably, refusing to be left alone.

"Little boy, why are you crying? It’s not like I died or something."

Velric’s teary eyes widened in surprise. The moment he realized Kael had woken up, he quickly wiped his tears with his tiny hands.

"Papa, you’re awake...!"

Without hesitation, Velric lay down again and hugged Kael tightly. Relief washed over him—his papa was safe.

"Thank God you’re awake. I promise I’ll be a good boy," Velric sniffled, his voice trembling.

Kael stretched out his hand and gently patted Velric’s back, comforting him with soft, reassuring strokes.

"Little boy, why are you like this? Don’t worry too much," Kael said softly, ruffling Velric’s hair.

"If you keep stressing at such a young age, you’re going to grow old too soon."
