Chapter 121: Lupin pack - 16

Kael’s POV

As I listened to that man, my eyes were fixed on him. He was sweating on his forehead, and his gaze remained glued to the floor, avoiding eye contact with me.

So, he realized that what they were doing was wrong.

In the research lab, they can’t conduct experiments unless the King himself grants permission. That means this man was the one who allowed them to proceed.

But before giving permission, they should have asked us since they are under our influence. Instead, they acted in secrecy.

If I hadn’t come here with Silas, they would have kept this hidden, and no one would have ever known.

This pack is too far from the Bloodfang Pack, so we wouldn’t have discovered it.

But luckily, I followed Silas and uncovered this mess. However, when Brother Damon finds out about this matter, things are going to get much worse.

"And what about the signal? Why is there no signal here?"

"Prince Kael, the thing is... we don’t know either. We have no idea why there’s no signal. But we’re working on it."

Like hell they were working on it. Just looking at this man, I could tell—he’s really slow. His face practically screams how stupid he is.

And then there’s his son, sitting beside him. Sure, he’s got beauty, but that’s about it. He seems just as dumb to me.

"But you should have reported this to our pack, shouldn’t you? Or were you planning to keep everything a secret? Did you really think your pack is so damn powerful now? Your pack is under our influence. It’s only because my brother is merciful that he took your pack under us."

When another pack attacked the Lupin Pack, it was on the verge of destruction.

Just then, my brother Damon stepped in, extended a helping hand, and brought the Lupin Pack under our influence—saving it in the process.

When Damon decided to establish a research lab in this pack, he specifically stated that any research conducted would require his permission. But I guess they conveniently forgot that.

"Do something about the signal. I need to inform my brother about all this. After all, he needs to know what’s happening here."

I said that as a reminder—they needed to be wary of Damon.

"Yes, yes, we’re working on it. I’m sure the signal will be back soon. But until then, where are you planning to stay?"

"That doesn’t matter. You need to worry about yourself. And... it’s a warning."

As I said that, both father and son exchanged glances before looking at me again.

"Prince Kael, why don’t you stay in our mansion? Our mansion is very big and luxurious. It would be comfortable for you to stay with us."

Well, as that guy said, it would be really comfortable to stay with them. But I don’t want to. Because that guy—I don’t like him.

He touched me without my permission. I didn’t say anything because I didn’t want to make a scene.

But how dare he touch me? So, of course, I’m not gonna stay with him.

"I’m not gonna stay with you... because I have my own place to stay."

"Yes, you have. I’m sorry, I forgot about that."

Just then, there was a knock on the door. That guy stood up and opened it.

Standing outside was someone in a white coat, asking to speak with the king. The king nodded at me before leaving with him.

As he left, his son remained, still sitting in front of me. I didn’t know what to say—Silas was completely silent.

He hadn’t said a word. Even when I glanced at him, he just sat there, looking down.

I was about to be done with all this when—

"Excuse me, brother."

At first, I questioned where the voice came from. Then I realized—the little guy was the one who spoke. His small fingers were pointing directly at the king’s son sitting across from us.

That guy looked just as shocked. Why was this little kid calling him that?

"Are you calling me?"

"Yes, you. Why were you hugging my papa? Stay away from him. I’m giving you the last warning."

My eyes widened. What did he just say? Last warning? Stay away from his papa?

He’s calling me papa, right?

"He is not your papa. Don’t fool yourself, brat," that guy scoffed.

"He belongs to my mumma! Only mumma can hug him—and me too! But you are not allowed, dirty brother."

The little guy even made a disgusted face, like some kind of grown-up.

"What the hell are you spouting right now? First, you’re nothing more than a brat, and second, he is not your father. He said it himself."

Why is this guy saying all this now?

I know I said it myself—that this little guy is not my son or anything—but he was crying.

That’s why I gave up on the idea of telling him the truth. If that guy says anything right now and this kid ends up crying... I don’t know what will happen.

Before the child could start crying, I meddled in.

"Hey, shut your mouth! And how dare you call these little guy a brat? Do you think I’m a joke or something?"

"But Prince Kael, you yourself said you don’t know this kid. That’s why I called him a brat—I thought you hated him," that guy said.

"My papa doesn’t hate me! But bite me, ’cause he hates you more than enough now!"

I was literally shocked by the way this little kid was speaking—like some kind of adult.

I don’t know where he learned this from, but one thing is clear. He’s been listening to adults talk in detail, and now he’s just repeating them.

After that kid said that to the guy, he turned his head toward me.

"Papa, I did great, right? Praise me!"

And why would I praise him? He didn’t even do anything—all he did was talk. And he only disrespected that guy.

"Velric, come here."

It was Silas calling the little guy to him.
