Chapter 119: Lupin pack - 14
Silas’s POV
"Look, I have no idea why he’s calling you ’Papa.’ This is my first time meeting this kid, so don’t glare at me with those disgusting eyes."
Kael was glaring at me as if I were the one who taught the kid to call him "Papa." Like, who would teach their child such bullshit—calling some bastard "Papa"?
"Silas, I’m starting to doubt you because this kid is looking at me the same way you do."
Oh great, now he’s even trying to match our gazes. But hearing him say that, memories I really don’t want to remember suddenly surface.
I find myself questioning—could this kid really be mine, just as the Moon Goddess said?
And she said that if I don’t accept this kid, he will surely die. But how can I accept him when I’m not even sure about anything?
I glanced at the kid—he was sitting there, staring ahead, his tiny hands gripping my shirt while swinging his little legs in the air. He looked really cute.
Is this really my child?
Just then, the door of the ward swung open, startling everyone inside. Kael and I quickly stood up the moment it opened.
Suddenly, soldiers poured into the ward one by one, each holding a gun. As I glanced at them, an unsettling feeling crept over me. Their full attention was on us. Noticing this, Kael and I exchanged glances.
Just as Kael was about to question them, a man stepped inside. My eyes immediately went to his face—a middle-aged man. Then, instinctively, I scanned him from head to toe.
Who is he? The question echoed in my mind as I studied him. But before I could figure it out, something else caught my attention.
The injured people in the ward suddenly lowered their heads. One by one, they climbed down from their beds and dropped to their knees on the floor.
And at that moment, I understood.
He is the King of the Lupin Pack.
And then, from behind the king, a man stepped forward. His jet-black hair contrasted sharply with his striking golden eyes, which shimmered like molten gold. His face was charismatic, exuding an almost ethereal beauty. There was no doubt—he was an Omega.
As he approached, he smiled warmly at the king.
"Father, why did you walk so fast? I told you I wanted to come with you, didn’t I?"
Oh, so this Omega is the king’s son. That means he’s the prince of the Lupin Pack.
After speaking to the king, the Omega shifted his gaze toward Kael. Then, the king himself took a step forward, standing right in front of Kael. His son followed closely behind him.
"You are the Third Prince, Kael, right?" the man asked.
So, he knows Kael. Is that why he’s here—to meet him? Well, Kael also wanted to meet the King of the Lupin Pack, so I guess it’s not that bad.
Kael also stretched out his hand and shook hands with the man.
"Yeah, I’m Kael."
"I heard that you arrived in our pack, so I wanted to meet you," the man said. "But I didn’t have much time on my hands."
"And if you had told me in advance, I would have prepared everything best for you."
Hearing the king’s words, Kael smiled.
"Don’t worry. I wasn’t here for royal matters—I came for personal reasons, so that’s why I didn’t inform you in advance."
As Kael explained, both the king and his son listened intently, their gazes locked onto him.
The way they stared so seriously made me wonder—why didn’t he laugh?
If those two had been looking at me like that while asking questions, I’m sure I would’ve burst out laughing at their curious expressions.
"And what’s happening here with those wolves eating people alive?" Kael asked.
The king glanced around before replying, his expression unreadable.
"It would be better if we go somewhere else to talk. We can’t discuss this here."
His eyes subtly signaled Kael—there were too many people around.
I could tell he had something personal to say about the matter... about those wolves.
That must be why he insisted on moving the conversation elsewhere.
"Somewhere else? Okay. Let’s go then," Kael said.
As soon as he spoke, the prince stepped forward and hugged Kael’s arm, smiling gently at him.
"You know, I’ve always admired you. I really wanted to meet you. I’ve seen all your portraits and drawings—they were absolutely stunning. You’re a genius at painting."
Kael’s expression didn’t change when the prince hugged him; he simply stared at him.
But when the prince praised his paintings, I was sure Kael must have felt at least a little pleased.
"Let’s go."
As Kael, the king, and his son were about to leave, the kid suddenly stood up on the bed and grabbed the back of Kael’s shirt.
Kael glanced behind, but before he could say anything—
"Papa, don’t go with them!"
I instantly covered my mouth in shock. Calling Kael Papa in front of the king and the prince... That was an unimaginable mistake.
And from what I could see, the prince was flirting with Kael. So now, I had no idea how this would play out.
"Papa, are you going to leave Mumma and me? Are you abandoning us?"
Kael hadn’t even responded yet when the prince suddenly asked, "Kael, is he really your son? Are you married?"
Panic surged through me. Without wasting a second, I quickly stepped forward, grabbed the kid, and covered his mouth.
"Prince Kael, is he really your son? Tell us. We haven’t heard anything about you being married or having a girlfriend. Don’t tell me you went straight to having a mate?"
Now even the king was questioning him. Of course, Kael wasn’t married, nor did he have a girlfriend. But yes... he did have a mate.
Kael remained calm as he replied, "No, I don’t know this kid. I have no idea why he’s calling me Papa, but yeah, I don’t know him."
After hearing that, I glanced at the kid, and his expression shattered—as if his entire world was falling apart. His face twisted in sadness.
And in the blink of an eye, he burst into tears, sobbing and hiccuping loudly. His eyes and nose turned red as he cried uncontrollably.
I tried to calm him down, to comfort him, but he wouldn’t listen. He just kept crying.
"Sob... Papa... Papa, don’t leave us... Hic..."
