Chapter 118: Lupin pack - 13

Silas’s POV

Oh, he looked so cute while sucking his thumb. But still, I took his thumb out of his mouth, picked him up, and placed him properly on the bed, resting his head on the pillow before covering him with a blanket.

As I did, I glanced around. But... how did I end up here? Kael and I were in the cave, weren’t we?

And before passing out, I saw Shine coming into the cave. Did he rescue us? Then where are they? Why am I the only one here?

Just then, Shine and Kael entered the ward.

"Silas, you’re awake?" Shine said, hurrying toward me.

"Yes, I am. But how did we get here? I don’t quite remember."

Then, I found out that last night, after we got separated, they were searching for us.

While looking, they reached a mountain, and after walking for an hour, they finally found us.

If they hadn’t arrived in time last night... we would have died there.

As for those wolves, Shine told me it’s related to some kind of scientific research.

They’re still trying to figure out the main cause. But whatever is happening—it’s all the scientists’ fault.

I mean, I knew there was a big lab here for scientific research.

But who would have thought they’d do something like this—harming their own kind?

Because of them, innocent people are now turning into wolves and going on hunts.

This is exactly why I don’t like scientists.

"Silas, how are you feeling now? Are you alright?"

Huh, Kael is worried about me? I think after last night, he must have changed.

Yeah, that makes sense. We were so close to death—anyone would change after something like that.

"Don’t worry, Kael. I’m totally fine. What about you? Are you okay? You were so cold last night, like ice."

"I’m fine too. It’s nothing serious. And about the child—"

As Kael said that, I turned around and glanced at the kid. He was still sleeping, but suddenly, he snapped his eyes open and looked straight at me.

The moment he saw me, he quickly sat up.

"Mumma!"

That word came out of his mouth, and I froze. What? He’s still calling me Mumma?

I glanced at both Shine and Kael. They were both staring at me, and from the looks on their faces, I could tell they were wondering the same thing—why was this kid calling me Mumma?

But honestly, I had no idea either.

I quickly moved toward the kid, sat on the bed beside him, and gently held his hand.

"Little boy, I’m not your Mumma... Where are your parents? By any chance, are you lost? Or did the wolves attack your parents?"

Just then, the kid suddenly hugged me.

"Mumma, are you mad at me...?" He looked down, pouting, then continued,

"I’m sorry, but please don’t leave me... I was so scared without you and Daddy."

I kept staring into his eyes—they looked a little like mine.

But no, that’s impossible. He can’t be my child. I’m still single.

"No, Mumma, I am your child," he said firmly.

Huh? What is this? I just thought that in my mind—so how did he know what I was thinking?

"Mumma, are you sick?"

I quickly got off the bed at his words. I was still single—so how could this child be mine?

Just then, Kael stepped forward and picked the kid up in his arms.

"What’s your name, kid?"

"Papa, why are you asking? You already know my name is Velric."

What the hell?! Did that kid just call Kael Papa? Now he’s his papa ?

Wait... He’s calling me Mumma and Kael Papa...

My eyes widened. I quickly rushed to Kael and took the kid from him.

"You can’t call him Papa... not when you’re calling me Mumma!"

"Why, Mumma? Did you fight with Papa?"

I had no idea where this child came from, but what he was calling us was totally wrong. Calling me Mumma was one thing, but calling Kael Papa? That just didn’t make sense.

"I didn’t fight with anyone, but he is not your father. Do you understand that? And I am also not your mother."

The moment those words left my mouth, the kid’s eyes filled with tears.

"Mumma... are you leaving me?" His voice trembled.

"I swear I’ll be a good boy. I won’t even bother you... but please don’t leave me."

His little hands clutched my shirt tightly, like he was truly terrified that I would abandon him.

"Guys, I totally don’t get it. Where did you find this child? And what is going on here? Why is he calling both of you his parents? Is he... both of your child or something?" Shine asked, clearly confused.

"Shine, don’t be ridiculous. How can he be our child? Just think about it—me and Kael having a child? No way! I’d rather die than have a kid with him," I replied without hesitation.

Ignoring Shine, I focused on comforting the kid, gently patting his back.

But he was still sobbing uncontrollably, sniffling every few seconds. I had no idea what to do.

And then—without a second thought—he wiped his runny nose on my shirt.

Like my shirt was some kind of tissue for his tears and his snot.

"Wait, were you able to call anyone? Did the signal come back?" I asked.

But there was still no signal. We couldn’t call anyone. We couldn’t reach the outside world. It was like we were completely trapped here.

Meanwhile, the other patients in the ward were severely injured. Each of them had wounds—marks left behind by wolves.

Shine left, saying he had some work with the soldiers, while I sat down on the bed.

Kael, however, remained standing there, unmoving.

Then, after what felt like forever, he finally moved. He walked over and sat beside me on the bed.

Stretching out his hand, he ruffled the hair of the kid sitting between us.

"Silas, why is he calling you his mom?"
