Chapter 113: Lupin pack - 8
Silas’s POV
We saw a man standing in front of our door, blood staining his stomach. He looked incredibly weak, barely holding himself up.
And then—out of nowhere—a wolf came charging from behind.
Before we could react, the wolf lunged at the man, sinking its teeth into his arm. My breath hitched. I was frozen in shock.
Kael was about to rush out to save him, but before he could take a step, the wolf ripped the man’s arm clean off. Blood splattered, and in an instant, the man collapsed—dead.
The wolf’s gaze shifted to us. Its glowing eyes locked onto ours.
Without wasting a second, Kael slammed the door shut and quickly locked it from the inside.
As soon as the door closed, a loud, bone-chilling howl echoed through the night. Then—BANG!—the wolf rammed into the door with such force that it shook violently.
I glanced at Kael, my heart pounding. Both of our eyes were wide with disbelief.
"What was that?" I asked, my voice barely above a whisper.
"It was obviously a wolf," Kael said, still catching his breath. "But today isn’t a full moon night... so how is it able to shift? Or was that a cursed wolf?"
Right. Tonight isn’t a full moon. That means shifting into a true form should be impossible.
If that wolf was cursed, then...
I swallowed hard. According to what I had read, a cursed wolf trapped in their true form could never shift back to human. And if cursed in human form, they could never take their true form.
But I had never seen a cursed wolf in real life before.
There was a time I even thought I might be cursed—an Omega too different from the rest. But on full moon nights, if I wanted, I could shift. That meant I wasn’t cursed.
But that wolf outside... what was it?
"He ate that human, right? Because... there was already a wound on that guy’s stomach. And did you see how he tore off that guy’s arm?"
I was terrified. Literally terrified. My whole body was shaking.
I didn’t know what to say. I didn’t know what to do.
I couldn’t believe my eyes anymore.
Even as I spoke to Kael, my body was still shaking. The scene that had just unfolded in front of my eyes—I couldn’t erase it from my mind.
No matter how hard I tried, the image of that man’s arm being torn off, the blood, the way his body went limp in an instant—it was burned into my memory.
That howling... the relentless smacking against the door... It was still terrifying.
My eyes stayed glued to the door. So did Kael’s. We both watched it, tense, as if it was about to break open at any moment.
And then—
"What is happening here?"
A loud voice broke through the eerie silence behind us.
It wasn’t a low whisper—it was loud.
I turned around immediately and saw Shine standing there, rubbing his eyes sleepily.
He had no idea what was happening outside our house.
Because of Shine’s loud voice, the situation instantly got worse.
We didn’t hear just one wolf howling anymore.
There were multiple.
The smacking on the door grew even louder, more aggressive—like they were trying to break in.
Without thinking, Kael and I rushed toward Shine, covering his mouth.
"Shhh... Shine, please be quiet." I whispered urgently.
His confused eyes stared at me. He gestured, silently asking why?
I pointed at the door.
Shine turned his gaze toward it—and that’s when he finally heard it.
The banging. The eerie howling.
His eyes widened in shock.
Realizing he understood, we slowly removed our hands from his mouth.
"What is that sound? Am I imagining things? That’s a wolf... right?"
I nodded. Yeah, he got that right.
Of course, it was a wolf’s howl. But the real question was—
Why?
Why were these wolves so aggressive? So violent?
It was like they saw us as their enemies... but why? What had we done?
We had just arrived in this pack this morning—and now, this was happening on our very first night.
It felt like coming to the Lupin Pack was the biggest mistake we had ever made.
"Do they just let stray wolves roam around like this in the Lupin Pack...?" I whispered.
Of course, we were new here. We didn’t know much about this place. It was a small pack, but this? This was beyond strange.
And then it hit me—
The wolf outside.
The blood on the road earlier.
That shadow I saw when we were coming back.
It all makes sense now.
"Wait, I’ll call the cops."
Saying that, Kael quickly pulled out his phone and dialed.
I felt a small sense of relief. In 15 minutes... maybe 20 at most... the cops will come to save us.
But then—
Kael suddenly looked at us, his expression dark.
"What happened, Kael?" I asked, a sinking feeling in my chest.
"There’s no signal here. The call isn’t going through."
I was literally shaking after hearing that.
No signal. No way to call for help.
Then who was going to save us?
Even if we tried to fight, it was impossible. If we were in our true forms, we might have had a chance. But right now... we were human. And they were in their true forms.
We couldn’t win.
Not like this.
And just then—
CRACK.
A sharp, splintering sound echoed through the house.
That crack felt like it wasn’t just in the door... but in our hearts.
Like something was pounding inside our chests, warning us of what was coming.
All three of us snapped our heads toward the door at the same time.
And what we saw made our blood run cold.
The door was cracking.
Too many wolves.
Too much force.
They weren’t just smacking against it anymore.
They were breaking through.
In the blink of an eye, a piece of the door broke off and fell to the floor.
Through the newly formed hole, a wolf peeked inside.
Its piercing eyes locked onto the three of us.
A shiver ran down my spine.
Without thinking, I shouted—
"RUN UPSTAIRS!"
