Chapter 114: Lupin pack - 9
Silas’s POV
As I shouted, all of us ran upstairs. I was ahead, and they both were behind me.
As soon as we reached the top, I saw that front door was completely broken. My room’s door was wide open.
The three of us quickly rushed inside and locked the door behind us.
But the same smacking sound we had heard at the front door was now coming from my room’s door.
My eyes darted around, searching for a way to escape, but the room had nothing except a bed and a wardrobe. There was nowhere to hide.
"Guys... he doesn’t want to hurt us, right? He’s just following us, that’s all..."
Hearing Shine’s words, Kael and I immediately turned to look at him, both of us practically judging him with our eyes.
"Shine, why don’t you go and check if that wolf wants to hurt you or not? And if he ends up eating you, don’t blame us, ’cause that wolf is a cannibal," Kael said.
I knew Kael was just trying to scare Shine, but instead of him, I ended up getting even more terrified.
"What are we gonna do now? Are we gonna die?" My mind went completely blank. It felt like death itself was waiting for me right outside the door.
And then—BANG!
A gunshot echoed right outside the room. The moment the sound rang out, everything went silent.
The three of us stared at each other. Just as I was about to step toward the door, Kael moved forward first and held up his hand, signaling me to stop.
Then, he slowly reached for the door and cracked it open just enough to peek outside.
Shine and I stood behind him, shaking. We couldn’t see anything. Only Kael could.
And we had no idea what was happening out there.
We waited for him to say something—anything. But instead, without warning, he suddenly swung the door wide open.
Shine and I flinched, fear gripping us even tighter.
And then, I noticed them—several guys standing outside the door, holding guns. The wolves lay on the ground, lifeless.
That meant these guys had killed them... and saved us.
But a chilling thought crept into my mind—what if those wolves were actually humans? Did they just kill people?
And was it really necessary? They could have captured them instead, figured out why they were acting like that.
"Are you guys okay?"
One of the men spoke. He was holding the biggest gun among them, his sharp gaze fixed on us.
"What is happening here? Why were those wolves killing humans? And first of all, why did they shift... even without a full moon?"
Kael asked directly, his voice sharp.
The four men exchanged glances at his question, as if silently communicating with each other. Something about their reaction felt off.
And then, I noticed it—one of them, the guy standing slightly apart from the rest, was looking down. My gaze drifted to his hand, where a wolf bite mark was clearly visible.
He was trying hard to hide it, but that only made it more obvious.
"We also don’t know what’s happening," one of the men said.
"We were on our way back to the military base when we saw this. So instead of continuing, we decided to help our pack members."
So, these guys are from the military. That’s a relief. It means we’re safe.
Just then, Kael stepped out of the room and extended his hand toward the man who had spoken.
"Hello, I’m Kael," he introduced himself, shaking the man’s hand.
"I’m from the Bloodfang Pack, and I want to meet your king. Right now."
The Lupin Pack was under the Bloodfang Pack’s rule.
So, of course, if Kael introduced himself as a member of Bloodfang, they wouldn’t dare refuse his request.
"First, let’s leave this place. We’ll talk about the rest later," the man suggested.
And he was right. The longer we stayed here, the more dangerous it could get.
Without wasting time, we all headed downstairs. As we moved, my eyes fell on my phone lying on the floor—I quickly grabbed it before following the others.
But the moment we stepped outside the villa, my breath hitched.
Blood. Bodies. Scattered across the road.
The scene was worse than I had imagined.
Seeing those dead bodies, my stomach twisted. I felt like throwing up.
Just then, Kael placed his hand on my shoulder. I instinctively glanced at him, but his attention was on the soldiers.
He was talking to them, his expression unreadable, and he didn’t even bother to remove his hand.
I didn’t say anything either. This wasn’t the time to argue over something so small.
Letting him be, I kept my focus on my surroundings, my eyes constantly scanning for any sign of trouble—ready to run at a moment’s notice.
"Let’s move ahead. I know it’s a safe way because we came from here," the man said.
With that, we all started following him. Since we were new here, we had no idea where to go, but having the military with us was reassuring.
As we walked, the silence around us grew heavier. It was eerily quiet—probably because it was past midnight.
Everyone was on high alert, their eyes scanning the surroundings as we moved forward.
Even though I was scared, I didn’t let it show on my face. I walked like a fighter—like I wasn’t afraid of anything.
I pulled out my phone, checking for a signal. Unfortunately, there was none.
Raising it higher, I tried again, but it was useless. With a sigh, I shoved it back into my pocket.
We just kept walking... and walking... and walking. The endless stretch of road ahead made it feel like we weren’t getting anywhere.
Finally, I couldn’t hold back anymore.
"How long do we need to walk? All I see is an empty road as far as my eyes can reach."
The same guy who had been answering our questions walked up to me while we continued moving.
