Chapter 6285: The Golden Light Shines; The Wish Gate
“Danger? What danger?” Eggy asked.
Chu Feng first closed the stone doors before turning to Little Fishy and the others. “I sensed someone spying on us when we were outside earlier. It was a discreet gaze, and it was coming from extremely far away. Someone else is in this realm, and that person is extremely powerful.
“The person who left these words behind must have noticed that person too and the dangers lurking here, so he didn’t breach this remnant and instead just left these words behind and left.”
“Is that what you were secretly asking big sister earlier?” Little Fishy asked.
“Yes,” Chu Feng replied.
“No wonder she declared that she would guarantee our safety. She must have sensed something,” Little Fishy said.
“She might even know who that person is,” Xianhai Shaoyu deduced.
“The things in h-h-here must be incredible for someone to be eyeing it. Brother, w-w-what are your thoughts? Advance or retreat?” Wang Qiang asked.
“We’ll advance,” Chu Feng replied.
They had no choice now that they were here. In the first place, the red-haired woman might not even let them off if they didn’t do as they were told.
“Let’s do it then!” Wang Qiang roared.
The others also expressed their willingness to follow Chu Feng.
“But h-h-how should we do it?” Wang Qiang suddenly asked.
Most remnants would have provided them a clue by this point, but there had been absolutely no clue ever since they entered the palace.
Chu Feng placed his hand on a stone door, and a formation whirred to action. He communed with the formation, and soon, the words ‘Chu Feng’ appeared on the door.
“Place your hand on the stone door, and a formation will commune with us,” Chu Feng said.
Wang Qiang and the others dove into action.
Just then, the pillar at the hall’s center began revolving. A ray of light shot out from Chu Feng’s stone door and swiftly traversed through the runes as the pillar spun. The light alternated colors among white, green, blue, purple, and golden.
When the pillar finally stopped, the light settled on white. The white light then shot from the pillar toward the stone door, forming two massive words—Resource Gate.
The crowd was confused.
Another light silhouette descended from the hall’s ceiling and landed next to the pillar. The light silhouette was humanoid, but it was impossible to tell its gender or make out its facial features. Even its voice was ambiguous.
“Clearing the Resource Gate will entitle you to rewards. Unfortunately, this gate contains the poorest resource in this hall,” the light entity said before disappearing.
“Poorest resource? Am I that unlucky?” Chu Feng sighed.
“Brother, t-t-that looks like it.” Wang Qiang nodded.
The stone door suddenly opened, and Chu Feng was dragged into it before he could react.
...
“Looks like the difficulty level and rewards differ for each door,” Long Chengyu remarked.
“That seems to be the case.” Long Muxi nodded too.
“D-d-damn it! My brother has always had good luck. If h-h-he got the worst one... could the other trials be impossible for us to clear?” Wang Qiang felt ominous.
“That’s indeed a problem,” Xianhai Shaoyu concurred.
“Forget i-t-it! We’re already here anyway. Let’s g-g-give it a try! Why don’t we d-d-do it together and see whose luck is the best?” Wang Qiang suggested as he approached a stone door.
“Sure,” Xianhai Shaoyu replied.
The others selected a door each too.
They placed their palms on the stone door at the same time and communed with their respective formations. Soon, their names appeared on their respective stone doors. The pillar began revolving, but this time, there were five rays of light shining on it.
In the end...
Wang Qiang got the Purple Resource Gate.
Little Fishy got the Purple Resource Gate.
Long Chengyu got the Purple Resource Gate.
Long Muxi got the Purple Resource Gate.
Xianhai Shaoyu got the Golden Wish Gate.
The brightness of the light varied as well. The golden light produced by Xianhai Shaoyu’s Golden Wish Gate was so bright that it lit up the entire hall. Anyone could tell that there was something incredible inside with just a glance.
The light entity descended beside the pillar once more to explain the situation with the gates.
The Resource Gates were easy to understand—they were in the same situation as Chu Feng. The only difference was their luck. They had the chance to obtain better cultivation resources, but the difficulty of their challenge was much higher too.
The most formidable one of all was Xianhai Shaoyu’s Wish Gate. If he succeeded, he could have a reasonable wish fulfilled.
“Damn it! My b-b-brother was the only unlucky one!” Wang Qiang lamented for Chu Feng.
“How can this be? How can big brother receive the White Resource Gate?” Little Fishy also felt that this was unfair for Chu Feng.
It was one thing if everyone got the White Resource Gate, but Chu Feng was the only one who got the worst one.
“Elder, is there a second chance?” Little Fishy asked.
The light entity didn’t answer. It appeared to be a formation devoid of intelligence.
It was then that the stone doors in front of Little Fishy and the others opened and sucked them. Only one person was left in the hall—Xianhai Shaoyu. His door didn’t open.
While Xianhai Shaoyu was bewildered, the light entity turned to him and said, “Your luck is harder to say. One can say you have the best luck, but one can also say you have the worst luck. You’ll reap great rewards if you clear the trial; I can even raise your base cultivation by three ranks. However, you also have to undergo the hardest trial.
“I’ll allow you to bring a companion in with you to confront the trial together, but only if your companion is willing.”
Right after the light entity said those words, a voice echoed, “I’m willing.”
Chu Feng was standing in front of the first stone door. His name had vanished from the stone door, a sign that he had cleared his trial.
The light entity didn’t reply. It didn’t even look at Chu Feng before dissipating.
“So fast?” Xianhai Shaoyu turned to Chu Feng.
“It’s a simple trial. Just a few lightning bolts falling from the sky—it barely scratched my itch. However, the rewards are as miserable.” Chu Feng opened his palm up to reveal a martial power bead.
The martial power bead was of decent quality, but it would be of very little use to Chu Feng at his current cultivation level.
“Your luck is terrible this time,” Xianhai Shaoyu remarked.
“Indeed, but it’s at least not a wasted trip with you getting the big prize. How about it? I’ll accompany you,” Chu Feng said.
He happened to overhear the light entity’s words. Being able to raise one cultivation by three ranks was a humongous fortuitous encounter.
Xianhai Shaoyu looked at Chu Feng contemplatively.
“What’s wrong? You can’t trust me?” Chu Feng asked.
“That’s not it.” Xianhai Shaoyu shook his head.
“You’re worried about implicating me into a dangerous situation, but that’s even more reason for you to take me with you. We can at least cover each other if we go in as a pair, right?” Chu Feng said as he approached Xianhai Shaoyu’s golden stone door.
Xianhai Shaoyu still looked hesitant, but in the end, he nodded. “All right.”
The stone door sensed his decision and opened up. A powerful suction force dragged Chu Feng and Xianhai Shaoyu in.
