“What’s wrong, Brother Shaoyu? Are you feeling nervous?” Chu Feng asked, for he could clearly see Xianhai Shaoyu’s heartbeat.

Their quiet surroundings made Xianhai Shaoyu’s erratic heartbeat even more apparent.

“It’s not nervousness. I’m just excited to be together with Brother Chu Feng.” Xianhai Shaoyu grinned as he grabbed Chu Feng’s shoulder and blinked his eyes seductively.

Any other men in Chu Feng’s place might have gotten the goosebumps, but Chu Feng responded with a smile, knowing that Xianhai Shaoyu had a bizarre sense of humor. However, he couldn’t help but think that there was something amiss with Xianhai Shaoyu’s condition.

Xianhai Shaoyu was fond of joking, but he always dealt with situations confidently and maturely when it came down to it. However, Chu Feng could sense his nervousness and fear.

A white light suddenly descended from the sky. It was also a light entity. It had clearer outlines, though its facial features remained indistinct. This time, they could make out its white hair and white robe.

However, they couldn’t tell if it was the same light entity as they had encountered in the hall.

With a wave of his sleeves, the light entity elder drew a circle of a million meters in radius around Chu Feng and Xianhai Shaoyu. He then waved his arm, and an immortal grass flew toward Xianhai Shaoyu.

He succeeded in the end, but he weakly collapsed as soon as the immortal grass crossed the demarcated area.

Chu Feng rushed over to support him. ”Brother Shaoyu.”

His heart clenched up. Xianhai Shaoyu’s mind was terribly weakened, resulting in his soul’s instability. The immortal grass must have attacked his psyche earlier. His life had been at risk.

The light entity elder pointed his finger at Xianhai Shaoyu, and a gentle surge of energy enveloped him. The latter instantly recovered from his earlier weakness.

This made Chu Feng realize that this remnant was more incredible than he had expected, and this light entity elder might not just be a formation manifestation.

“Thank you, elder.” Xianhai Shaoyu quickly bowed to the light entity elder upon sensing his recovery.

“You need not thank me. This was a trial. Since you have cleared it, there’s no need for you to suffer beyond that. Do you wish to advance your cultivation, or do you have other wishes?” the light entity elder asked.

“Elder, I’d like to make another wish,” Xianhai Shaoyu said.

“What is it?”

“I wish to restore my little sister’s bloodline.”

Chu Feng widened his eyes as a thought suddenly surfaced in his mind, but he didn’t probe any deeper and instead waited for the light entity elder’s answer.

“Xianhai Yu’er, right?” the light entity elder asked.

“That’s right.” Xianhai Shaoyu nodded.

The light entity elder fell silent. Despite his indistinct facial features, Chu Feng and Xianhai Shaoyu could sense that he had closed his eyes. He might have gone off to check Xianhai Yu’er’s condition.

A moment later, the light entity elder opened his eyes and said, “It won’t be easy to heal your little sister’s bloodline. How about this? If you give up on the wish, I’ll make an exception and raise your cultivation by four ranks.”

“Elder, I only have this wish. Please help me if it’s within your means.” Xianhai Shaoyu kneeled onto the ground.

“I’ll raise your cultivation by five ranks,” the light entity elder counter offered.

“Elder.” Xianhai Shaoyu kowtowed to him.

The light entity elder waved his sleeves, and the immortal grass vanished. Instead, a quiver filled with ten arrows appeared in front of the light entity elder. At the light entity elder’s gesture, the ten arrows flew out of the quiver and whizzed into the ground.

As they penetrated the ground, the earth shook.

“Pull out all ten arrows and return them to the quiver to clear the trial. Some words of warning: the arrows harness dangerous energy that can claim your life. Let go if you’re unable to withstand the arrow’s energy. Don’t lose your life over your obstinacy,” the light entity elder said.

Without any hesitation, Xianhai Shaoyu reached out to grab an arrow.

Before he could even touch the arrow, Chu Feng suddenly grabbed his wrist and asked, “Brother Shaoyu, what’s wrong with Yu’er’s bloodline?”

“It’s fine. I’ll tell you later,” Xianhai Shaoyu replied with a smile.

He tried to reach for the arrow, but Chu Feng continued to stop him.

“Tell me right now,” Chu Feng insisted.

Faced with Chu Feng’s unwavering gaze, Xianhai Shaoyu understood that Chu Feng would not let him proceed till he revealed the truth.

“In my clan, our bloodline potency is measured in terms of fish immortals. Every clansman has at least a fish immortal in their bloodline. Those with three fish immortals can be categorized as an expert. I have eight fish immortals, whereas Yu’er has nine. That’s why everyone in the clan believes she’ll surpass me in the future from the moment of her birth. And indeed, her talent is above mine.”

Xianhai Shaoyu had a proud smile as he spoke, but his smile soon faded to shame.

“When we were subjugated by the God Clan, Yu’er tried to fight back by using the God Clan’s formation to ignite her bloodline, but she ended up paying a heavy price for it. She depleted a fish immortal in the process.”

Xianhai Shaoyu lowered his head.

It was now clear to him that Little Fishy had lost the fish immortal while trying to save him. Everything finally made sense now. That would explain how she was able to save him from the verge of death; she had made a huge sacrifice for that.

“Elder, can I complete the trial on his behalf?” Chu Feng asked the light entity elder.

“The wish will be yours if you complete this trial,” the light entity elder replied.

Chu Feng grabbed an arrow and tried to pull it out, but it was easier said than done. In the process of doing so, the surrounding earth cracked, and it felt like the world would crumble.

“Chu Feng!!!” Xianhai Shaoyu was worried.

But Chu Feng remained unfazed. He exerted his strength and pulled out the arrow in one shot. Then, with a wave of his sleeves, he pulled out the remaining nine arrows too.

The earth collapsed inward, and the world crumbled into chaos. Everything had been reduced to the void.

With the ten arrows in hand, every step Chu Feng took left cracks in space. However, he didn’t hesitate in the least as he swiftly advanced toward the quiver, as if fearing that he would fail the trial if he didn’t hurry.

In the end, he successfully placed the ten arrows into the quiver.

As soon as the feat was accomplished, Chu Feng collapsed like a deflated ball.

Xianhai Shaoyu rushed over to catch Chu Feng, but a gentle surge of energy suddenly enveloped Chu Feng. It was the light entity elder’s doing.

The light entity elder turned to Xianhai Shaoyu and said, “You have great luck. There’s no way you could have cleared this trial given your earlier performance, but you picked a good helper.”
