Marry The Devil
Chapter 32

Chapter 32: Chapter 32

The moment Mala heard those words, she ran as fast as her legs could carry her, heading towards the burial grounds.

Francis’ eyes flashed with anger as he glared at Queen Venessa and Mala’s father, standing with their sons with no regrets in their eyes.

"Your highness, please....I can explain," Lord Lucas said shakily as he lowered his head.

"Your Highness, please forgive my husband’s negligence," Queen Venessa begged. Obviously, she didn’t mean any of those words.

"I came for something important. But know that I can burn down the whole village with you in it if anything happens to Mala," Francis warned before he walked into the throne room. "Meet me here when Mala is done mourning her mother. For now, I do not want to see your faces."

The moment Francis left, Queen Venessa immediately walked towards king Lucas and held his hands. "What’s all of this?" She asked, whispering.

King Lucas kept a straight face. "I do not know," he answered.

"Why would the king have her around him like that? Nothing feels right. Everything doesn’t feel right about that girl. I told you...I warned you about that girl and her mother. I told you that they were witches, but you still decided to keep them. Now she has reason to power instead of dying like her mother. What if she tries to kill us?" Queen Venessa asked, with anger in her eyes and voice.

Her words hung in the air as all that king Lucas did was look. "Aren’t you going to say anything?" Queen Venessa pouted as she tightened her grip on the king’s wrist.

"Let go!" Lord Lucas growled, snatching his hand. "Find me when it’s time to meet the king. Do not get me in trouble. You heard what he said, nothing must go wrong with her," king Lucas coldly reminded before leaving.

Queen Venessa screamed and stamped her feet, not minding that the palace guards and her sons were watching.

"Mother, what’s wrong?" Alfred asked.

"Everything is wrong. Every single thing here is wrong and your father has refused to see that we are being threatened by that thing. The only reason I haven’t planned to kill her yet is because of Lord Chris," Queen Venessa muttered.

"I still do not understand why they are all obsessing over her," Anthony added.

"Send a message to Lord Chris. Tell him that we have agreed to the offer that he made. I cannot just sit and watch everything that I have worked for falling apart before my very own eyes," she uttered whispering.

"And father? I do not think that he would ever agree to it."

"Leave him to me," Queen Venessa answered before heading towards the second gate that led to the palace burial grounds.

~Mala’s POV

I laid there on the ground, sobbing. My mother’s grave was covered with bushes. Unkept....and it even seemed as if they had been throwing waste and dirt over her.

Her name was written on a stone and kept next to the pile of sand. "You do not deserve this, mother," I cried and I felt someone’s hand over my shoulder.

"Francis?" I called as I gently turned, only to see the face of the woman who killed my mother.

"It seems like you have truly gotten used to his highness," she said with a chuckle.

"You dare to show your face after everything that you have done?"

I wanted to strangle her right there and bury her next to one of the servants.

"It has really been a while, and I must say, you look quite better than you did when you were here," she said.

"And that’s because I have no one that’s constantly trying to take my life over there," I answered. I felt relieved even though I lied. It was worse ...almost everyone at Crescent village was after my life. Especially the old man who thought that I would kill his highness.

I stood up, trying to leave. I just wanted to get away from her. I might lose control if I waited any longer.

I wanted to leave Silver Village as soon as we could. My home was my hell.

"So tell me, what did you do to his highness? There must be something that you’re not telling anyone," Queen Venessa asked, smiling. Her smile disgusted me. I wanted to see her cry over everything that she had.

"Stay away from anything that has to do with me. You wouldn’t want me to...." Before I could finish, she cut in.

"To tell the beast about how much you hate me and make him kill me?"

"He’s not a beast!" I cautioned.

It broke my heart to hear him being called a beast. He wasn’t the one who made himself that way, was he? He only had Lucifer’s powers.

Francis wasn’t a beast.

"Let me know when you’re done deceiving yourself. But what’s the point? He’s only going to kill you anyways," she said. At first, I didn’t want to pay attention to her, not until she said. "Even the beast is afraid to die in your hands. I am sure he can’t wait to get rid of you."

I halted and turned to look at her. I remembered that Sir. Oliver the old man also said something about me killing him. It can’t just be a coincidence, can it?

"What is that supposed to mean?" I asked, with my eyes widened. My heart raced and my insides burned with curiosity.

"There are alot of things about him that you do not understand, right? He does some things that you cannot explain and when you ask him, he can’t give you a meaningful reason for it. He says somethings that you do not understand, leaving you hanging without giving you proper answers to any question that you ask," She said.

My whole body froze. I didn’t realize how many unanswered questions I had until then. Francis never told me why he said he couldn’t love me in the beginning. He never gave me a good explanation as to why he always closed his eyes and never looked directly into my eyes. I was beginning to doubt what he said about Sir. Oliver was true.

"Listen to me, Mala. I do not want you to die hopelessly like your mother did. Your union with the king is going to bring nothing but pain and the death of one of you. You should know me well by now. I never tell a lie," she said, then she tried to leave.

I caught her...even though I was scared, I couldn’t just let her leave. "And you think that I am going to believe all of this nonsense that you have just said? So this is your new plan? To snatch the happiness that I just found?" I asked, and the tears I tried to hold rolled out of my eyes.

"If you are not careful mala, you’ll be the one to die."

"I have had enough of you!" I screamed.

"You think that the one who has the almighty power of Lucifer bestowed upon him would want to settle for a weak and helpless woman like you?" She asked and she scoffed.

"His love for me comes with no condition. Unlike the one you have for my father," I answered.

"Listen, Mala. The strong only seek after the strong to get more strength. Tell me what you have to offer asides from the hole between your legs? You are being used Mala and you have failed to see it. You really do not have to be stupid like your mother," she said.

"Stop talking about my mother! You think I have forgotten what you did, I’ll make you pay for it!" I yelled.

"And that’s if you live to see the next full moon. Stop worrying about your mother and focus on staying alive. The only way out is to get married to Lord Chris, the wizard. He’s the only one who can help your unfortunate head. If not, you’ll vanish and no one would remember that you ever existed," she snatched her hand and walked away.

My heart that was once filled with assurance of Francis’ love was soon filled with fear. I kept reminding myself that Queen Venessa was nothing but a liar but that part of me kept telling me that it was true.

Francis had Lucifer’s powers...including his ability to lie. What if I’m being deceived? What if it was all planned?

What if what he told me about Queen Arabella was a lie and he actually slept with her? What if he planned to marry her after they have gotten rid of me?

But if he wanted me dead, then he wouldn’t save me from Lord Chris and Sir. Oliver, would he?

But why didn’t he ever look into my eyes?

"What if everything is true? What if it’s all a lie and I stupidly lose the man who loves me?"

I fell to the ground and sobbed. "Mother, I do not know what to do."
