Marry The Devil
Chapter 33

Chapter 33: Chapter 33

Meanwhile, Francis was sitting on the throne with his head tilted backwards, impatiently waiting for Mala to be back. He hated that they were in the place, yet they were so far from each other.

He started to pace around the palace, waiting for her to walk through the door but she didn’t. He just wanted to hold her and have her by his side.

"Why would she be away from me for this long? Hasn’t she mourned her mother enough? Is she okay? Or does she think it’s fair that I’m left here all by myself?" he mouthed as he paced around the room.

As Francis turned away from the door, the creaking sound accompanied with footsteps were heard and his lips curled with a smile. "Mala?" He called then he turned slowly with his eyes closed, only for an unfamiliar scent to run through his nose.

"Your highness, it’s.... it’s me," King Lucas stuttered with his head lowered.

"I can tell. The stench from your body says it all," Francis coldly answered and the smile on his face dropped. "I thought I said I didn’t want to see your face until Mala is here?"

King Lucas slowly raised his head but didn’t dare to look directly at Francis. His eyes were swollen and his skin looked quite pale. Even his voice sounded weak. "I have come to beg for your favor, your highness," king Lucas said, then he immediately bowed when he moved close enough to the throne.

"If you think you can try to talk me into not getting married to Mala then you’re wrong! She belongs to me!" Francis stated.

King Lucas shook his head. "At first, when you came, I feared that she might not be in good condition.... being with....with you..."

"Because I’m a monster?!"

"No ... .no, your highness. I feared that you might be punishing her for what happened a while ago when you took her away. But seeing how comfortable she is around you, I am willing to hand her over to you. She isn’t even that comfortable around me," King Lucas answered.

"Why would she be?" Francis asked with a scoff and a hint of pride.

"I am more than grateful that she has ended up with you," King Lucas revealed and a warm smile finally parted his numb face.

"I thought you hated her, then why do you suddenly care? If you have anything stupid going on in your old head it’s better that you stop thinking about it!" Francis sneered.

"I wouldn’t want to hurt my daughter. Not when I’m in my right senses. That is why I have come to ask for your help, your highness," king Lucas begged.

"What do you want? You can no longer handle the guilt and you want me to kill you?" Francis asked with a smirk and a ball of flames appeared on his hands. "As my father in-law, I would do just that and give you the grace to be killed by me."

King Lucas flinched. "Nn ... .no, your highness, I do not want to die. In fact, I’d like to live for as long as I can to make up for what I did," King Lucas answered shakily.

"If you do not want to die then what do you want me to do for you?" Francis asked with his brows creased.

"I want Queen Venessa dethroned and banished," King Lucas replied and Francis let out a scoff.

"What happened? Did you have a fight? And even if you had a fight, you think dethroning and banishing is the best thing to do?" Francis asked and King Lucas had tears streaming down his face.

"My reason for making this decision is more than just a fight. Everything that has gone wrong in my life today is because of Venessa. She’s the reason behind Raya’s death, she’s the reason my own daughter now hates me! All of this wouldn’t have happened if she didn’t cast a spell on me.

It wouldn’t have happened if she didn’t come into the palace in the first place. If not because of her, I would still have my family now. Raya would still be alive. Please, your highness.. I need you to do this for me because she renews whatever spell it is that she has casted on me," King Lucas cried.

"The reason behind everything happening to you is because of your greed. It all wouldn’t have happened if you didn’t take another wife in the first place! My father warned you, didn’t he! I remember clearly that he told you not to marry her!" Francis sneered.

"And now because of your stupidity, Mala had to go through all of this!" Francis growled and king Lucas was suspended in the air.

"Your ....your highness ...please...have mercy on me," He begged.

Francis dropped him on the ground and smacked his teeth. "You’re lucky I do not want Mala to be an orphan."

King Lucas spent a while catching his breath. "I beg you...help me to get rid of her for Mala’s sake."

"You brought this upon yourself, so handle it. It now has nothing to do with Mala," Francis coldly answered.

"Your highness, I beg you."

"There are rules, Lucas. A village cannot remain without a queen."

"But your highness..." king Lucas cried.

"Rules are rules, Lucas!" Francis growled. "But there can be exceptions. For Mala’s sake," Francis answered.

"I’ll do anything, your highness...I’ll do anything that you want me to do."

"Make Mala forgive you. Make up for all the years that you have ruined before Mala and I return to Crescent tomorrow," Francis said.

"But your highness, Mala does not even want to see me," King Francis cried. "I do not think that I can do it ...it has been years since Mala and I last spoke. I have seen the way she looks at me....she detests me."

"Then watch Venessa ruin you," Francis answered.

"Your ..."

"I don’t want to hear it," Francis ordered.

~Mala’s POV

I was finally out of the palace burial ground. My heart raced and my whole body trembled but I tried everything that I could to hide my tears and fear.

I was on my way towards my father’s throne room when I found Queen Venessa walking in. She spotted me from a distance and halted.

She stretched her hands towards me with a smile. "If you think you can wait for a miracle to happen or for someone or something to give you an answer, then I am sorry to disappoint you Mala, but you’ll die waiting," she said.

"Stay away from me. I have had enough of you in one day," I spat and she didn’t stop smiling.

"You do not have much time left Mala. The clock is ticking...death is waiting," she chuckled softly then walked ahead.

She was doing quite a good job in getting into my head. Her words fueld the flames of curiosity that burned inside of me.

I knew at that point that I needed to figure it out. I needed to know what Francis was hiding from me and why he hid it.

I walked into the throne room and just like I thought Francis would, he immediately closed his eyes when I tried to look into his eyes.

I tightened my fist and forced a smile through my lips, not wanting anyone to notice how I felt....not even Francis himself.

"Mala, you’re here," Francis said, and he immediately rushed towards me. He hugged me and i looked at Queen Venessa who had a smirk on my face.

"Are you okay? May we begin the meeting?" Francis asked.

"I need to have a word with you, in private," I whispered to him and his brows creased with curiousity.

"Is everything okay?" he asked and I forced another smile through my lips.

"Meeting cancelled. We’ll meet when I have the time," Francis said to them and he eagerly held my hand, then I walked him into one of the guest rooms and shut the door.

The way he still kept his eyes closed made my blood boil. It never really bothered me, but after what Queen Venessa said to me, I just couldn’t make assumptions and overlook it anymore.

"Mala....are you okay?" He asked and his long fingers traced my face. I was willing to find my answer in any way that I can.

I smiled. "I thought you said you wanted me when we get here? Don’t you want me anymore?" I asked and Francis smirked.

"You must be so eager for you to drag me out of a meeting. If you want it, then I’m willing to give it," he whispered to me then I went ahead to kiss him.

"Wait," he said and he brought out a light fabric from his pocket and he covered his eyes with it, using it as a blindfold.

He went that far?

"Now we can," he added. Francis kissed me like there was no tomorrow. His hands ran along my body.... exploring every part of my skin.

Our breathes were heavy, but I didn’t let the pressure get to me.

When he least expected, I lifted his head with my hand and pulled the blindfold with the other and immediately looked into his eyes.

Unlike the last time, my eyes didn’t burn me but Francis groaned like I threw him into a burning furnace. He pushed me and tossed me against the wall.

That was when I knew, there was more to Francis than he told me.
