Magus Supremacy
Chapter 308 - 308: A Crackling Vengeance! {GT bonus Chap 1}

"Time for the second fixture of the day," Amir declared as the holographic display shimmered to life once again, shuffling rapidly before settling on two names.

"The next match is between Greg Truedream and Lyra!"

The moment Amir's voice echoed through the arena, Greg and Lyra stepped onto the battlefield.

Up in the stands, Lucian watched with a furrowed brow, his arms crossed as if trying to suppress a storm within.

'Yesterday, my instincts led me here... and today, they're screaming louder than ever. Something's about to happen. Something worth paying attention to...' Lucian mused internally.

He sighed.

'But damn it, I should be working on the task assigned to me. Two years, and I've barely made progress. Still, I can't shake this feeling. I can't ignore it.'

With a snap of his fingers, the battleground shimmered, resetting itself to pristine condition—no trace of the previous battle remained.

"Something bothering you? You look unusually tense," Amir asked, sparing Lucian a sidelong glance.

"Just a bit bored. Not like I can help that," Lucian muttered, waving dismissively. "Just start the next match already."

'He's never this uneasy... not even during the Drakesville attack. Something's definitely wrong,' Amir thought, his eyes narrowing before he returned his attention to the crystal.

"Are both mages ready?"

Lightning crackled along Greg's arms, his confident smirk unwavering. Across from him, Lyra hovered mid-air, a massive wind dragon coiling behind her.

With each beat of its wings, gusts whipped around her form, her expression sharpened with focus.

'Scarlet lost. That doesn't mean she's weak—it means her opponent was stronger. I can't take this lightly,' Greg thought, his body now fully wrapped in lightning armor. A pair of glowing boots and gauntlets sparked violently, his gaze locked on Lyra.

"Since all fighters are ready, let the second match begin!" Amir announced.

Before Amir could even sit, Lyra launched a dozen wind swords from her dragon's mouth. They whistled through the air toward Greg.

Bang!

Greg vanished in a flash of light, zipping around the arena like a bolt of lightning. Each step he took scorched the ground, leaving deep fissures and residual arcs of energy in his wake.

The wind swords crashed where he had stood, detonating with thunderous force. Dust and debris erupted, but Greg danced through the destruction with fluid precision.

"You wanna keep running around like a mouse? Or face me like the true mage you are." Lyra taunted, her voice sharp with sarcasm.

A lightning bolt nearly caught her off guard. But her reaction time was fast as her wind dragon quickly swiveled around avoiding the lightning bolt that burst in the air sending sparks of electricity everywhere.

"You missed," she sneered. "But I won't!"

Dozens of wind arrows surged from her construct, screaming toward Greg.

"Who said I missed?" Greg replied calmly. With a snap of his fingers, the dispersed sparks reformed behind her—lightning gathering into a square formation, bursting forward.

Lyra tried to avoid the sparks of lightning but a shot hit her wind bird's wings causing it to veer off course slightly but with her magic, the wing fixed itself.

At the same time, Greg bolted again, evading the barrage of wind blades with barely a breath to spare. One arrow grazed his shoulder, but he didn't stop.

One leap.

A pivot.

Another crash of wind swords.

Then—

Crackling with raw energy, Greg slammed both fists into the ground. A shockwave of lightning surged outward, incinerating the remaining swords. Before he could even catch his breath—

Boom!

A concentrated gust slammed into him, hurling his body across the field. He skidded, bounced, then tumbled to a painful stop. Blood trickled from the corner of his mouth.

"Thought this would be easy?" Lyra called out, her voice rising in dominance. Wind constructs bloomed around her—blades, spears, crescents, all hovering menacingly.

Greg wiped blood from his chin, his glare unwavering.

"There's a reason I'm ranked third among third-year students," Lyra declared, the wind dragon roaring behind her.

Greg's body sparked brighter. Lightning danced violently along his limbs, his hair lifting with static. His eyes turned a blinding white, lightning surging from his irises.

"And there's a reason I'm second among the second-years," he replied. "Now let me show you why. Breakthrough!"

A blinding pulse of energy exploded from him.

Lyra's eyes narrowed. "To deal with you, I don't even need to break through. Definitely not a domain."

With a snap, the wind constructs launched at once.

"And that will be your doom!" Greg roared as he propelled forward, kicking the air so hard it ruptured audibly.

Bang!

He smashed through the wave of constructs with brute speed, lightning vaporizing them on impact. Lyra retaliated instantly, slicing down with a massive wind blade.

Greg fired a lightning arrow. It met the wind blade mid-air—

BOOM!

The resulting explosion shook the entire coliseum, dust spiraling out.

"Wind Magic: Aerius!" Lyra bellowed, releasing a torrent of force. It struck Greg dead-on, sending him crashing like a meteor into the arena floor.

The ground trembled. A crater formed. The magical barriers flickered under the pressure.

Lyra exhaled triumphantly.

"Another easy win for us," she whispered.

'My darling Grey. I hope you are watching me? Watch how your beloved Lyra dominates this tournament and proves that she can stand equally with you. I hope with me defeating the second strongest student amongst you all already proves my strength.' she thought with a smile on her face. But just as she turned away—

"Where do you think you're going?" Greg's voice echoed from the crater.

The dust cleared. He stood there, blood trailing down half his face, his grin savage.

"You want to win? Then finish the fight. Because I will!"

A bolt struck him from above.

Then—

BOOM!

Greg launched like a missile.

Before the crowd could register the blur of motion, when the sound of another deafening bang was heard and the next moment, Lyra's wind dragon shattered. She was flung from the sky like a ragdoll, her body twisting mid-air before slamming into the ground.

Thud!

Silence blanketed the coliseum.

Lyra's body lay motionless. Blood dripped from her lips. Her eyes rolled back, showing only white.

Greg landed gently, stumbling to one knee. The lightning around him faded. His body trembled, but the grin on his face remained victorious.

"This is an uproar!" Amir gasped, before the crowd finally erupted into cheers.

"Greg Truedream wins! A victory for the second-year students!"

Thunderous applause and whistles rang out. Two mages appeared—one tending to Greg, the other teleporting Lyra away for immediate healing.

In the stands, Grey grinned ear to ear.

'Even though Scarlet lost, Greg made up for it in full. Lyra's cockiness was her downfall. If she had broken through, this could've gone differently. But she underestimated someone who beat Dante—after he broke through. This... this is the rise of a new monster.'

Grey's smirk lingered as Amir's voice cut through the cheers once again.

"Let's see our next fixture!"

The hologram shuffled names. When the final pair appeared, Grey's grin vanished.

A cold expression washed over him.

"Shit," he muttered.

"The next match of the day: Dave versus Vince!"
