Chapter 87: 24 episodes - Ice and Fire

Darkness, all around was darkness, absolute darkness. Lynch struggled to open his eyes, but all he could see was still darkness.

This was a darkness that even the Eye of Insight couldn’t penetrate.

The Mage felt as if he were standing on a vast plain, he could sense the soft grass beneath his feet, but when he looked down, he could only see darkness.

"Where the hell is this?" Lynch crouched down, attempting to feel the ground with his hands. He wobbled and fell to the right.

The Mage rubbed his sore right shoulder and unexpectedly felt a hand—a strong, powerful hand—it was a left hand, his left hand that should have been long gone. Lynch, who had grown accustomed to the heavy refined gold prosthetics on the left side, now found himself unaccustomed to his original arm.

Lynch increasingly found this place strange. First was the pervasive blackness, with even his Eye of Insight rendered useless, and then there was his left hand, surprisingly reappearing.

"Is anyone there?" Lynch shouted loudly. No one answered him, not even an echo.

"What a vast place," the Mage mumbled to himself, standing up and beginning to walk in one direction. He couldn’t tell the difference between the black here and the black there, nor could he know whether he was walking in a straight line or a circle. He simply placed his left foot in front of his right, then moved his right foot in front of his left, marching mechanically.

He believed that staying still would offer no hope, wherever this was, he had to keep moving.

The surrounding darkness persisted.

Elsewhere, Deluo and Nimo stared helplessly at the still unconscious Lynch. All they could think to do was pour copious amounts of healing Divine Power Potion down Lynch’s throat.

A gentle white light gradually appeared on the Mage’s body, his once sunburned skin slowly returning to its normal color, and his bluish lips regained their gloss without cracking. Yet the Mage remained unconscious.

"Deluo! What should we do now?" Nimo anxiously tugged at the warrior’s sleeve, two large teardrops spinning in his eyes.

"The wounds should be healed, but Lynch probably still needs cooling down. We need to find plenty of water!" Deluo looked around: "Quick, follow me!" He hoisted Lynch onto his shoulder and started climbing towards the rock wall by the shore.

"Where are you going? Will this really work?" Nimo wiped the tears from his eyes, gathered up the things on the ground, and quickly followed.

"Look up there!" Deluo said as he grabbed the crevices in the rock, quickly climbing upwards while pointing to the cave ceiling.

Nimo looked up and saw several crystal clear Ice Cones hanging upside down from the hot cave’s ceiling.

Lynch continued to walk slowly in the darkness, feeling the soft touch of grass underfoot and a hint of a breeze blowing against him.

"Wind? Where did the wind come from?" Lynch couldn’t help but feel puzzled. There was nothing but darkness here earlier, so how could a breeze suddenly arise? He thought for a moment and decided not to move in the direction of the wind, continuing to step left foot over right, slowly walking toward the direction he deemed forward.

The wind grew stronger, flapping the Mage Robes with a loud rustle. This was the first sound Lynch heard other than his own muttering.

Gradually, the grass under his feet began to slope upward, the ground becoming somewhat slippery. It seemed dewdrops had clung to the grass, imparting a cool feeling to his palms. Lynch began to climb the increasingly steep slope with hands and feet.

Finally, Deluo and Nimo climbed the steep rock wall. In front of them was a broad platform, with a thin layer of frost on the ground. The further away from the Molten River, the thicker the frost became, eventually turning into snow, and snow into ice. Behind the ice lay a frozen passageway, with a wall composed of various colored stones firmly frozen beneath the hard ice: pale blue crystals clung to some black stones, magnetic black iron; gray-green Celestine Stone intertwined with red iron ore, forming strange yet letter-like patterns; gray shale and brown marble made up the background of the wall’s patterns.

Nimo scooped a handful of frost from the ground and sprinkled it on Lynch’s face. It only produced a puff of steam, the frost dissipating rapidly in the air before reaching the Mage’s face.
