Chapter 81: Episode 21 Rising_2

In the hall, there wasn’t a single snake-man standing. All of them were directly blown to the ground by the explosive force that appeared right beside them. The weapons in their hands and the armor on their bodies were severely battered and deformed. Many snake-men were even caught between multiple explosions, their bodies twisted unnaturally, and they were ground into pulp before they could even scream.

The majority of the snake-men survived thanks to their strong physiques. Some of the smarter ones immediately dropped to the ground as soon as they sensed trouble, avoiding most of the impact.

The worst off was the High Priest at the center of the altar. Previously, he had taken the brunt of the lightning strikes, and now the explosion’s power was also concentrated on him. He had just absorbed the last bolt of lightning, struggling to stand with his body blackened and smoking, only to be slammed by the powerful impact to the top of the cave, leaving a snake-man-shaped indentation on the hard stone.

The sight was just like a fly being swatted.

The impact wasn’t limited to the evil snake-men; Deluo and Nimo, hiding in their secluded spot, also suffered considerably. Their ears were ringing with a "buzzing" sound, drowning out everything else. Fortunately, they had hidden behind obstacles, pressing their bodies low, thus avoiding being struck by various snake-man weapons that were blasted into the air. Longswords, spears, daggers, and tridents all lodged themselves in the stone above their heads.

The two exchanged a look and decided that getting out of this place was the top priority.

Their original task was for Lynch to bring down those eight stone pillars, forming a barrier to hinder the snake-men’s advance. Then Nimo would seize the opportunity to shoot the High Priest on the altar with his crossbow, while Deluo covered Nimo’s retreat—given that dwarf’s short legs couldn’t run fast. But now, it seemed that the snake-man priest had already been flung to the top of the rock wall, and Nimo’s repeating crossbow couldn’t reach that far. Plus, it looked like the Main Priest no longer needed Nimo to make a move.

Deluo grabbed the dwarf’s clothes, hoisted him onto his shoulder, and started running for the exit.

Lynch lay sprawled on the ground outside, completely at a loss about what had just happened. The power of those chain explosions was astonishing; the mage had never imagined a chain lightning could be so potent. Thinking back to the magic energy ball that nearly exploded in his hand just now, he couldn’t help but feel extremely frightened.

"Next time, I mustn’t use the mixed method to handle scrolls again; it’s nothing short of playing with fire. That power just now almost matched the intensity of the Great Mage’s Wand exploding," Lynch wiped the sweat off his forehead and stood up from a pile of silver ore carts.

Then he saw Deluo and Nimo running out of the cave, followed by over twenty blood-soaked snake-men. Their weapons long lost, they charged with their bloody gaping maws, poison teeth glinting coldly in the front jaw, sharp claws flashing, and roared a thunderous cry as they lunged forward.

Fortunately, Deluo and Nimo couldn’t hear anything at the moment, or they might have been scared stiff by the strange hisses from behind.

Lynch aimed behind Deluo, chanted a spell, and a 15-meter-long, 3-meter-high ice wall rose up abruptly, blocking the pursuers.

Then the three hurriedly ran towards the lift by the spiral stairs. Deluo tossed Nimo into the car, pulled the rope hanging next to the lift, and began hoisting the three of them upwards.

Thanks to the warrior’s innate Dragon Power, the lift wobbled and slowly began to ascend. Lynch pulled out his dagger and cut the section of rope left hanging after Deluo’s pull. This way, the snake-men at the cave’s bottom couldn’t grab the remaining rope to shake the car.

Several crossbow arrows shot over, hitting the wooden floor of the lift with a thud, the powerful impact piercing through the board. Had they been any closer, they would have gone right through the floor. Now the arrows were embedded like nails in the car’s bottom, with the nail heads facing up. Nimo glanced down: these arrows were undoubtedly coated with poison, still exuding a faint green glow. He took out his carving hammer and knocked each of these nail-like arrows down. If someone accidentally stepped on them, they’d be poisoned all the same.
