Chapter 66: Episode 14: The Confrontation

Zilvra stood with her arms hanging at the center of the room, looking at Lynch five steps away. "Mage, it’s time..."

Lynch looked at Zilvra coldly, showing no surprise. He raised his head and used the Eye of Insight to stare at the darkening Drow. In his right hand, he tightly grasped the Thunder Powder taken from his Magic Material Bag, hidden under his wide sleeve, ready to attack at any moment.

"It seems there are more secrets hidden within you," Zilvra stared into the mage’s eyes. As the color of the pupils and eyelids had become indistinguishable in the blackness, even the Dark Elf couldn’t discern the mage’s actions and emotions from his gaze. "However, the stronger you are, the more advantageous it is for me."

"Do you want to recruit me to serve a Dark Elf Family? That’s impossible," Lynch said slowly. "Many forces in this world far surpass me, but none can make me submit. Even if the end of the world comes, it can only destroy me but not conquer me." Lynch sidestepped to the right, standing behind a wooden chair. "Indeed, the Dark Elves are a formidable presence in the Underworld, and I respect you. But I will not become a thrall to the Drow."

"Then, what could possibly make you yield and become weak?" Zilvra asked softly, but then she immediately added, "That is a foolish question. You wouldn’t answer."

Lynch chuckled, letting out a soft snort through his nose, "Zilvra, I’m willing to change my principles for two days of travel with you." Lynch nodded towards the door with his chin. "I don’t wish to engage with you, so you’d better leave now."

"Can’t I stay?" A slight smile appeared on Zilvra’s lips as she stared at the mage with her blue-purple pupils. It seemed like a teasing expression, but Lynch, with the Eye of Insight, clearly noticed the sweat beginning to seep from Zilvra’s forehead and the quickening beat of her heart.

"If you’d asked me a quarter of an hour ago, I would have allowed you to travel on," Lynch paused, "but after you closed the wooden door behind you, I can’t agree to your request."

"Why? Do I look that frightening now?"

"That’s not the reason. It’s because you pose a threat to my friends. Nimo couldn’t have bought so many things at once that he couldn’t bring them upstairs. Actually, our group’s belongings are quite limited," Lynch smiled. "But since Deluo hasn’t come upstairs yet, it indicates that Nimo is unconscious, but unharmed, and he’s taking care of the dwarf. Otherwise, he would have rushed up to confront you earlier."

"You truly are intelligent. I didn’t kill that dwarf. He’s made things to my liking these days. But there’s one thing I don’t understand," Zilvra slowly drew out a thin sword from her waist, letting it hang beside her thigh. "You say I threatened your companions, but didn’t I threaten you as well?"

"You drew your weapon to find out this, didn’t you?" Lynch replied with a slight smile.

"Yes, your peculiar eye couldn’t escape it," Zilvra removed her hood, revealing a head of shimmering silver hair. "Drow hair is naturally straight." She closed her eyes and inhaled deeply, "I’m truly delighted..."

Suddenly, Zilvra’s thin sword struck. The black blade, the black shadow of the sword aimed at Lynch’s black eyes, with no tricks, just a straight thrust, pursuing the most unexpected lethality with the shortest distance and fastest speed.

This move was extremely sharp for a sneak attack. But Lynch, possessing the Eye of Insight, had started retreating as soon as her muscles began to tense in preparation for exertion. As he retreated, the mage lightly kicked the chair in front of him.

Zilvra, still smiling, took a step forward onto the chair, her speed unrelenting.

Lynch was not idle either. His right hand shook, and the Oily Technique energy, long prepared, shot out from his robe. Instantly, the floor and the chair in front of the mage became incredibly slick. At the same time, he raised his left arm to shield his throat.

Zilvra slipped, nearly falling to the floor. If she fell, she would lose the most crucial speed and initiative when facing the spellcasters. She furrowed her brows, twisting her body sharply in the air. Her long silver hair scattered, swirling and dancing, like a silver peony blooming in mid-air. (Appendix)
