Chapter 297: Episode 10 Curse_3

Lynch stepped aside to let Cicy enter the cabin, and he closely followed behind. The Brass Dragon sniffed the air ahead, easily finding the room where Soka and the others were.

Zilvra and Van Dijk looked at the "young man" who entered with surprise. His fair face matched his tawny hair, dressed in loose sky-blue cloth, and wore pointed black soft boots. A brand new three-stringed harp was casually held at his side, while his other hand stroked his upward-curling mustache.

"My name is Cicy. Good morning, everyone, today’s sun is indeed a bit..."

Lynch’s Powerful Wand made a heavy knocking sound on the wooden cabin floor, the echoes reverberating in everyone’s ears. Cicy thought for a moment and stopped his habitual self-introduction, turning his gaze to the little girl lying on the bed.

"Celestial creature?" The Brass Dragon sniffed just once and understood Soka’s identity. He glanced back at Lynch: "How did you summon her to this world?"

"Her illness," Lynch answered tersely. "The rest of the story will be your payment after the treatment is complete."

"Alright! But to think it’s a Dawn Angel!" Cicy stepped forward quickly, placing his hand on Soka’s forehead, muttering words. Soft white light seeped from between his fingers, spreading over the little angel’s entire body. Soka let out a few faint moans, the redness on her face gradually fading, and her breathing became steady.

However, beads of sweat formed densely on Cicy’s forehead, and his veins and sinews began to bulge visibly from his hand. It was as if his body was under immense pressure, constantly trembling. In just a short while, he stood up from the chair, his legs strenuously pushing against the ground, resisting the overwhelming repulsion force trying to push him away from the angel.

It was as if a steel bar bent by extreme force finally reached its limit, producing a loud bang as Cicy was sent flying, crashing into the wooden wall with his back. The sudden event startled everyone. Van Dijk took a few steps back, covering his head and face with his hands; Zilvra drew her thin sword, glaring at the direction where Cicy had fallen.

Lynch rushed to Soka’s side, placing his hand on her forehead. Fortunately for the Mage, the little angel’s body had cooled down, the persistent fever had subsided, and her breathing had stabilized. Now the little one appeared more to be in a sweet slumber, with the "illness" far removed.

"Mage!" Cicy dusted himself off, standing up nonchalantly from the big hole in the wall: "Come out, I have urgent matters to discuss with you."

Seeing the Brass Dragon frown deeply, Lynch also sensed that things were becoming very strange.

"Regardless, your next destination is the Elf Kingdom located in the Moon Forest, what you humans refer to as the Elf Forest, Salantir. Go find the Great Druid, wait for me there." Cicy looked up at the sky, staring intently at the blazing sun above: "Things have become very odd, I must investigate. That little one meeting me, you might not know how fortunate that actually is. She’s fine now, but I’m afraid something hundreds of times more severe than her illness is about to happen. Mage, tell me now, where are your Great Mages? I need to borrow their power."

Lynch looked at the giant dragon, waiting.

"Seems you’ve not forgotten the pact made with us dragons." Cicy gave a wry smile, speaking in the Dragon Clan language: "I, Nerags•Minterasif, Brass Dragon, in exchange for my true name, demand to know the gathering place of the mages."

"Lynch•Von•Dutchland, apprentice of the Mage Association, consents to your request." Lynch pointed with his wand into the distance: "It’s in that direction. I think, with your knowledge, you know where I mean."

"Now I understand, young mage. Truthfully, sometimes your rituals are even more verbose than we Brass Dragons." Cicy pointed at the mage’s pocket: "That stone is a Holy Relic of the Druids; return it to the Great Druid when the time comes. Remember, your next stop is Salantir, hurry there. May fortune be with you."

As he spoke, he ascended into midair. The dragon’s form gradually unfolded, broad wings covering the entire shell of the ship. Cicy effortlessly lifted the anchor chain with his claw, flapping his wings to propel the small ship forward. Zilvra and Van Dijk came to the deck, just in time to witness the astonishing scene. The Brass Dragon said to the mage: "Farewell, the story you owe me, I will return to collect it."

With that, he flapped his wings and left their sight. Lynch supported the old sailor, whose legs had already weakened, letting him lean gently against the ship’s railing.

"What just happened? Why would a giant dragon be hovering nearby?" Zilvra asked: "Do your ground mages still hold control over all Dragon Clan? Was that dragon your mount?"

"No, I am just an apprentice," Lynch replied: "As for having a dragon mount, I wouldn’t even dare think about it."

"Apprentice? You’re just an apprentice?" Zilvra’s eyes widened: "If so, what level of power must those Great Mages be?" She looked at the dragon, now just a small black dot on the horizon, muttering to herself: "Now I understand why Arcanists can master all dragons."

"Mage? Lynch, are you a mage?" Van Dijk looked at Lynch in surprise, sizing him up before pushing him away with force: "Lynch, why would you engage in such an evil profession? Have you forgotten the torture and devastation we Haisas people suffered at the hands of the mages? Are you betraying the parents who raised you?"

"He has wronged no one, old fool!" Zilvra drew her sword: "You are so blinded that you can’t see the power of the mage or understand their deeds, yet you keep forcing your bias onto Lynch. Creatures as ignorant as this should not exist in this world!"

Lynch gestured for Zilvra to sheath her thin sword. He released Van Dijk’s arm, silently entering the cabin to retrieve the sleeping little angel.

"We will depart now." Lynch said to Van Dijk: "I will leave using the dinghy at the stern, so as not to trouble you any further."

The old sailor watched Lynch’s actions in silence, trying to speak several times but failing to do so.

"Lynch!" Zilvra called out: "Is this how people on the surface treat you? Will you let such views continue to weigh on you forever?" She pointed at Van Dijk: "Even the boat he’s using was fixed by you, yet he lets you leave without a word..."

"Zilvra." Lynch gently placed Soka onto the dinghy: "I’m just walking my own path, both in the past and now. Perhaps this path intersects with many others, but I know clearly which is my path."

"What do you mean, don’t speak in riddles," Zilvra took one last look at the old sailor, lightly leaping onto the dinghy.

"I mean, do not let others’ opinions cause you to forget the path that belongs to you. You, didn’t you leave Ratris City just because of this..."

Watching the small dinghy float downstream, Van Dijk stood at the bow of the shell ship, hands gripping tightly onto the boat that had accompanied him for many years.

"You old fool, I truly feel ashamed for you," the old sailor said angrily. He glanced at the pipe in his hand, letting it slip gently into the flowing waters of the Fengduo River, disappearing after a few bobs.
