Chapter 296: Episode 10 Curse_2
"This doesn’t seem like an illness," Zilvra said, "To me, this looks more like a curse."
"A curse?" Lynch frowned, "Who would curse an Angel? And how did they cast it?"
"If I had studied a few more years in ’that’ temple, I might be able to answer your question," Zilvra said regretfully, gently touching Soka’s little face.
The Mage moved to Soka’s side, placing his hand on her forehead, focusing on sensing the energy within her. The strong magic resistance of the Angels made this observation exceedingly difficult, but the continuously flowing Magic Origin Power supported Lynch’s will. The little angel groaned in pain, her face alternating between flushes of red and pale white. Zilvra and Van Dijk held their breath, waiting anxiously.
"No, there’s no trace of magic in her body. Whether it’s the Arcane of a Mage or the Divine Arts of a Priest, I couldn’t find either," Lynch shook his head, lifting his hand from Soka’s head, "I found no curse unless the one who cast it is far more powerful than I."
With that, Lynch thought of Cicy, who was still sailing outside. This old dragon, almost a living fossil, might have a solution. He immediately left the cabin.
As soon as he stood on the deck, he was greeted by Cicy’s stormy voice, "Mage, why are you out here again? Have you understood the loneliness within my heart, empathizing so deeply with this solitude that you’ve decided to keep me company with conversation? You’re truly kind. I am constantly torn—on one hand, wanting you to tell novel stories, and on the other, dreading that this cruel sun will roast you. Now that you’re out here, you’ve given me a dilemma. What should I do?"
Lynch ignored him and swung his Magic Wand towards the anchor, letting the heavy chain sink into the water. The Shell’s speed gradually slowed, finally coming to a stop.
"Cicy, there’s a patient who needs you to take a look. If you continue to be long-winded at such a time, I will consider it intentional murder. According to the alliances between Mages and giant dragons or in accordance with your Brass Dragons’ benevolent character, this is not permissible. Even if I am weak, I will drive you away!"
Watching the Mage’s determined gaze, Cicy remained motionless. His pupils became vertical slits, flickering with yellow light. The Brass Dragon was pondering what qualifications this young man before him had to challenge him. The Dragon Clan’s dignity and pride kept his head held high, fixed on the deck like a nail.
Lynch watched the Brass Dragon closely, observing his demeanor. Deep down, he still harbored a doubt about the curse. Soka’s symptoms were too similar to those of the deceased Ida • Eagle Head. The Mage had found no externally inflicted harm on either of them. Originally suspecting the Druid was pretending, but Eagle Head’s ability to perceive the approaching dragon through "pain" was undeniable. Although there seemed to be no reason for the Brass Dragon to cast a spell on Angel Soka, he couldn’t rule out the possibility that he had secretly intervened.
The Mage deliberately used such impolite language to engage with the dragon to test Cicy’s temperament and tolerance. If it was truly related to him, Lynch wouldn’t mind challenging the dragon.
The Eye of Insight was fixedly observing every move of Cicy, with the black in his pupil swirling like a vortex. The Brass Dragon was astounded by this phenomenon, unable to comprehend what it was. Looking at Lynch, he recalled his former master Casus, who, with his powerful "left hand," was a renowned figure in the Great Arcanist era. The refined gold arm he crafted was in the hands of this young Mage facing Cicy.
"Mage, your tone in seeking help is not pleasant," Cicy said, "But compared to your firm resolve to save a life, it doesn’t count for much. I, being a Brass Dragon, and a giant dragon present when the Mage alliances were formed, will tolerate your impudence this time." He slowly stepped down from the helm position, standing before the Mage, "Young human, you should thank your predecessors. Their long-standing accumulation allows you to stand safely before me now. Remember, even kind dragons can kill in anger."
