Chapter 292: Episode 9 Coming Dragon_2
"Gods! My mage friend." Eagle Head said: "Those gods always treat mortals as their playthings, this extreme heat can only be the gods flaunting their power. Only Mother Nature will treat her children gently, calming these poor living beings on the ground with refreshing rain and pleasant winds, taking away the oppression of the scorching sun."
Lynch naturally didn’t believe in the Druid’s words. In fact, anyone with faith could interpret this extreme heat in a way that aligns with their own beliefs, finding the most advantageous explanation for their faith. Other "heresies" might be held responsible for such unpleasant matters, while they themselves are considered the only means to solve the predicament.
As a mage, Lynch only believed in himself and what he could achieve. He used only his own eyes and mind to think, never being manipulated by others. Mages neither placed their hopes on gods, nor believed that the power of faith could save everything. They only believed that what was to happen in the future could be traced back to clues found in past events.
"Druids, weren’t you asking about the giant dragon?" Lynch, not wanting to discuss natural beliefs with these Druids, said: "Now is a good time."
"I just want to know, how do you mages control the giant dragons? What are their weaknesses?" Eagle Head looked at Lynch and asked.
Hearing this question, Lynch frowned deeply. If he had been somewhat suspicious of these Druids at first, his doubts now grew even stronger. Generally speaking, Druids lived a humble life in jungles or mountains, never keeping rare gemstones or precious metals, and rarely making powerful magical tools. Unless they invaded a dragon’s territory, giant dragons generally didn’t trouble these natural allies, let alone target them for their hoarded treasures. The three before him had decent shapeshifting abilities; they should be experienced Druids, certainly aware of such simple common sense.
The most suspicious point was that they began by inquiring about the mage’s greatest secret. The issue of forming pacts with dragons was an innovation by ancient Great Arcanists, and such highly confidential documents were still kept in the closely guarded towers of the Mage Association. Even after a thousand years, with the number of mages sharply declining, no force dared to underestimate the Mage Association, largely due to this "Giant Dragon Agreement". All priests and Druids who had beliefs knew this was the mage’s greatest secret. To directly ask about something related to it could not help but arouse suspicion.
Lynch looked at Eagle Head, feeling he didn’t seem like an idiot. But why would he ask such a foolish question? Was he covering something up, or pretending? The mage thought for a moment and said: "I’ve always been a bit curious, how did you Druids get involved with giant dragons?"
"This matter is quite complicated to explain." Eagle Head’s expression seemed to relax slightly. Lynch always felt he was trying to change the subject as well. The mage felt that the so-called goal of "resolving" the dragon trouble as soon as possible hid a significant mystery within.
"We merely lived quietly in the mountains, peacefully blending with nature." Ida slowly said, "But one day..."
Reaching this point, he seemed to have been struck heavily in the chest, bending over in pain. He quivered as he said: "I felt it. The dragon! The evil dragon!"
Lynch frowned tightly, watching the druid’s theatrical performance. Under the Eye of Insight’s X-ray vision, the mage could easily see the druid’s physical condition. Let alone being attacked in the chest, there wasn’t a single injury mark on Ida • Eagle Head’s entire body.
"Since the evil dragon is already here, I advise you to hurry and flee." Lynch was already tired of nagging with this bunch, smiling as he said: "I don’t have the capability to protect you from that so-called giant dragon’s harm."
"I’m not lying to you!" Eagle Head shouted. At this moment, his two brothers swiftly turned into eagles and soared into the sky.
