Chapter 291: Episode 9 Coming of the Dragon

The weather on the second day was unusually hot, the sun finally tearing off its gentle facade, revealing its savage side to the world. The entire earth was mercilessly baked, and all creatures were seeking a shady corner to reside in.

Even the once gently flowing Fengduo River lost its usual cool river breeze, replaced by an overwhelming heat suffusing the surface. The calm river now looked like a mirror, reflecting the dazzling sunlight, the double glare stinging the eyes of passersby. A mass of river water evaporated, forming a hazy mist. It enveloped the passing ships, bringing with it a stifling feeling.

Little angel Soka was the most affected, panting since morning, lying powerlessly on the deck, unmoving. The wings that would usually flutter in the air now only trembled weakly when brushed by hot winds. Her eyes drooped, her tender little tongue lolled out, panting heavily with a "huff huff."

"The weather is truly unusual," Van Dijk said: "Normally, this time would be the cool rainy season, but this year it has become so hot. I don’t know what’s wrong with the sun." He pointed at Soka and said to Lynch: "Lynch, the sunlight outside makes it hard for me to open my eyes. Quickly bring Soka into the cabin. Otherwise, she’ll get scorched."

The mage nodded and went to the deck. Even though it was glaringly bright outside, it had no effect on his special eyes. However, the scorching sun felt like a barrage of sharp arrows, piercing through the mage’s robe, leaving a prickly burn on his skin.

"Ice Cone!" he waved the powerful wand, deliberately reducing the magic’s power, and spread a layer of ice on the ship’s deck. Little Soka shivered, raised her head with difficulty, looking at the approaching mage, struggling to count how many Lynches there were. To her eyes, her black-robed brother, like the sun in the sky and the trees on the shore, always swayed, one becoming two, two becoming four, making her dizzy.

"Soka, when did you come out?" Lynch gathered the angel’s wings, easily picked her up, "The sun is so harsh, why didn’t you stay inside the cabin?"

"Brother Lynch, I... I don’t know either," Soka said tremblingly: "Last night, I suddenly wanted to see the sun, afraid I might not see it again."

"Silly girl, you must have had a nightmare." Lynch quickly handed Soka to Van Dijk: "Uncle, I think she’s a bit heat-exhausted, quickly take her inside."

"Okay." The old sailor hurriedly took the little one into the cabin, then fetched a bucket of water from the river, preparing to cool down Soka.

"Wait a moment," Lynch cast a spell on the bucket: "Frozen Ray!" An azure light shot into the water, a layer of frost quickly surfaced. "It’s too hot staying here all the time, I’m going to set sail, maybe catching the wind will be better."

Van Dijk nodded, he had taught Lynch how to sail yesterday, now all he needed to do was focus on taking care of the feverish little angel. Although Lynch could use strange spells, and his companion had beautiful wings, all these things made the old sailor feel strange, but he had watched Lynch grow up from a young age, long understanding his character, having a familial trust in him.

The Shell slowly left the shore, but without raising the sails. Lynch maneuvered the helm to navigate downstream, the headwind finally easing the heat on the ship, blowing a breath of freshness into everyone’s parched lungs.

"Mage, what do you think about this weather?" asked Eagle Head.

"The three of you seem quite comfortable under this blazing sun," Lynch remarked, eyeing the red marks on their skin: "Druids indeed adapt to all natural changes."

"No! It’s not like that," Eagle Head shook his head: "This abnormal weather is not the intention of nature."

"Then what could it be, Druid friends?" Lynch steered the helm, cheerfully passing those sluggish passenger ships under the blazing sun.
