It was already dark when Ethan came out of the library, he stood in front of the library for a while before walking back to his dorm, he was really tired and sleepy so he quickly walked back.

Ethan walked past the research department and the door was opened, when they showed them the research department building, the students weren’t told what was being researched since it was secret.

’Who would leave the door to a room like this opened’

(I wonder what they are doing in there, take a peek let’s see)

Ethan walked towards the door as quietly as possible and took a peek inside the room, it was a small room that had a table in the center and nothing else, but another door was at the other end and it was also opened.

’I’m really starting to think this might be a trap’

(How would the research department be just one room, check the other door out)

Ethan looked around and when he confirmed no one was around he tiptoed towards the other door and it was a stair leading down into an underground room.

(I suspected this might be the case, okay let’s go)

’You know I’m supposed to be in bed right, what would happen if I’m caught, this is clearly a secret so going down would mean...’

(How would you get caught when you have sensory magic, use your spells, don’t you want to know what they’re doing down there)

’That’s right, okay then let’s go’ Ethan muttered as he walked down the stairs, and he got to a tunnel that led straight down.

Every 10 seconds Ethan would use his heightened sense and spatial awareness to scan the area but he didn’t hear or sense a human till he got to the end of the tunnel where he saw a huge magic crystal that was shining brightly.

So bright that Ethan had to look away for a while before he could look at the crystal a little, it was laid on top of a rock but a cotton material was used to cover the underneath of the crystal so it wouldn’t directly touch the rock.

(What kind of crystal is that, it’s generating tons of energy, maybe that’s the source of the barrier around this kingdom, a barrier that prevents invasion and unauthorized entry.

’Then there’s nothing of interest here, it’s not like I want to steal the barrier or anything, wait...is it me or is he light getting dim’ Ethan muttered as he walked towards the crystal.

The closer he walked towards the crystal, the more the light of the crystal got dim till he was standing directly in front of the crystal and the light wasn’t disturbing his eyes.

"So what are you doing here demon" a voice spoke and Ethan quickly turned around.

’Wait what...she just called me a demon’ Ethan was shocked as he stared at the girl in front of him, she didn’t make a simple sound and just came out of nowhere.

"Hi sorry I got kinda carried away when I saw the door open, I’m going to leave right away" Ethan spoke.

"Do you think you are leaving here, you can come out of your disguise demon, do you think disguising yourself as a male is the best way to go" she spoke.

"I have no idea what you’re saying but I’m not a demon, my name is Ethan, and I’m among the first-year students" Ethan spoke.

"So you still think I don’t know, it seems the instructors were right" the girl muttered as she stretched her hands, and two flame swords formed in her hands.

"Wait...this is a misunderstanding, I don’t shit...Flame cloak" Ethan shouted and she stopped as a cloak of flame enveloped most of Ethan’s body.

"A misunderstanding, then why were you here, why were you close to the crystal and besides, I was told to be careful, it seems the instructors were right"

"I just got close to the crystal I didn’t do anything else, if I were a demon I would have tried to damage the crystal but I didn’t" Ethan muttered now genuinely afraid.

"If you are not a demon, get naked now, female demons can only take the shape of a man, but unlike real men, they have no manhood, so show me yours, and I’ll believe" she muttered.

"I can’t just drop my pants down and show you my dick, what if you don’t believe me and charged forward?" Ethan asked.

"It seems you are smart, but I’ll give you an option, come with me and you’ll be arrested and questioned, or take a step forward and I’ll make sure your body leaves this room in pieces" the girl muttered as she held the swords in her hands tightly.

"I’m surrendering" Ethan muttered as he stopped his flame spell and raised his hands.

The girl stretched her swords toward Ethan and from the tip two fireball spells were shot out towards Ethan.

Ethan stretched one of his hands and cast the barrier while his other hands already reached for his storage ring and brought out his sword.

"Just what I thought, I thought you surrendered, you were still hiding a weapon somewhere, I’m glad I found you I’ve been itching for something to do other than researching barriers" the girl smiled as she charged forward.

"Wait you...shit" Ethan shouted as he took a battle stance and focus on the girl charging towards him.
