Chapter 64: Monster addition

After adjusting the last bit of grassland, Forsyx smiled and tapped on the finish button.

A bunch of confirmation messages popped up in front of him.

The moment he accepted the last one, the terrain map flew out of his hand.

Not even a second later, it disintegrated into the air.

Ding!

[You have created the first terrain in your lab.

The Terrain Shop is now available to you. You can access it by thinking about the shop.]

Forsyx closed the familiar notification of the system shop.

It had basically nothing but different terrain maps, which he could use to create different environments for his creatures.

Not thinking much about it, he just looked down and saw Weyril below him.

The teen just adjusted his coat collar and said, "Finally, we are done."

Forsyx smiled. "Already tired?"

Weyril smiled back at him. "How could I be tired, boss, when you’re working so hard here?"

Forsyx just shook his head and focused on the next stage.

It was time for the second reward — a one-time special creature summoning.

With one snap of his fingers, he teleported the remaining three template cards from the template lab into his hand.

When Weyril saw the cards, he flew next to him and asked, "Boss, you’re calling out the creature, right?"

Forsyx nodded as he first picked the White Horn Rabbit card from his status and mumbled, "Template to Creature Summoning."

The next moment, the rabbit template card flew out of his hand and started rotating in the air.

[Do you want to instant summon or set a timer?]

Forsyx tapped on instant summon.

[Please select the region where you want to summon the creature.]

A big geographic map with the lab and its surrounding black land appeared before him.

He slid the map to reach the grassland and then zoomed in to select the south side of the lake.

[Creature summoning in process...]

The next moment, he saw the common card flying toward the lake.

Both Weyril and he followed the card as it stopped just above the northern bank of the lake.

Then, a big portal appeared below the card, and one after another, White Horn Rabbit monsters started jumping out of the portal.

The monsters looked around in confusion for a moment before diving into the thick grass, searching for their new home.

The moment the last White Horn Rabbit jumped out of the portal, the card stopped spinning like it had lost all its power and flew back to him.

Ding!

[You have started the one-time summoning event.

Note: You must use all the template cards to either instant summon or set a timer. Once the event ends, you will permanently lose this opportunity.]

Forsyx did not waste much time and picked out the Rainbow Carp card.

The same process happened, and this time, he selected the lake.

Same as the White Horn Rabbit, 24 small Rainbow Carps swam out of a portal and dove deep into the lake.

Now, even though both of these cards were not that effective, inside the lab, they were going to become the backbone of the food chain.

Both Rainbow Carps and White Horn Rabbits were among the most fertile monsters.

These monsters could double in just a few days.

They were going to become the staple foods inside his lab space.

This was another mistake he had made in his past life, the most costly mistake.

In the past, most of his initial common creatures died quickly, and then he had to purchase the meat from the market until he found other common herbivorous monsters.

This was one department where Rainbow Carps shone, as a single female carp could lay thousands of eggs in a span of a couple of months.

He had some big plans for these carp. Just to give them enough time to reproduce, he chose to set a timer for the other three creatures.

Next, he picked out the Green Hook Snake.

The number of creatures was the same, but this time he selected the timer — 4 space lab days.

Once he moved out and the ideal space-time activated, the in-lab time would become 2x faster than game time, which was already 2x faster than the real world.

So, 1 day in the real world would equate to 4 days in his lab.

Not a huge difference, but it would be a sufficient head start for the rabbits and carps to expand.

He placed them on the west side of the lake near the big grasses.

As for the Pipler Bird, he chose the 8-day timer instead.

As the only creature with flying ability in the village, this made them the apex predators of the grassland.

Also, these birds could even hunt snakes, so he did not want both of these creatures to come together.

Finally, he took out the red Unique-grade card.

He felt Weyril’s bright eyes burning into him. Ignoring that, he said, "Template card to Creature Summoning."

Ding!

[Do you want to instant summon or set a timer?]

Forsyx tapped on the set the timer.

[Please select the region and time for your creature to enter the lab space.]

Forsyx paused at this. The thing was, Dire Wolves fell into the mid to upper-mid size carnivore class.

Each of them would need a lot of food.

Typically, a creature of that size would hunt similarly sized herbivorous monsters, but his lab lacked those monsters right now.

As for the others — sure, they could hunt White Horn Rabbits — but surviving solely on rabbits would be difficult.

Green Hook Snakes would be as good as nothing, and the same could be said for Pipler Birds.

The only potential food source for the Dire Wolves would be the Rainbow Carps.

But both Pipler Birds and Green Hook Snakes would also mostly hunt carp, as rabbits were difficult prey to catch.

Having just a single type of creature as the major food source for three predators could lead to serious trouble if not handled properly.

After a long thought, he selected 16 days and chose the plains area near north side of the lake.

Weyril complained from the side, "Boss, come on, do we really have to wait for so long?"

Forsyx sighed. He knew even 16 days was not sufficient, as Dire Wolves were not the only unique creatures he was going to have.

But it’s not like he had all the time in the world.

The sword of the monster awakening cycle was still hanging over his neck.

He finally confirmed his selection, and the last card soon came back to him, marking the end of the summoning event.
