Chapter 65: Invitation

The moment the Dire Wolf template card returned to him, the event-end notification popped up before him.

[All the Template cards have been used. This marks the end of the one-time summoning event.]

Forsyx sighed.

It would have been much better to use this event after gaining some extra template cards—it’s just that it was impossible to gain template cards from the game world.

Now that he was outside the beginner village, the only way for him to gain cards was through the lab.

He looked at the bubbles on the surface of the river and the movement in the grass.

Sure, he had gained these creatures, but four out of the five inside his lab would soon become useless.

There was no point in creating any template cards from these common monsters.

Heck, in terms of raw creature use, most of these common monsters were already useless—except maybe the Pepiler Bird, since it could fly.

Now he had two ways forward.

The first was to simply gather a wider variety of creatures inside his lab space, but that was the biggest challenge of his Template Wilder class.

With the inventory restriction on living creatures, it was impossible to take those monsters from the game world and keep them inside his lab space.

The only workaround was to take in monster eggs, but finding those eggs was another challenge.

In that sense, he was lucky to have gained the Hibiki eggs, and even the Dire Wolf template card, being a special reward, gave him a much-needed head start compared to his past life.

Now that he thought about it, it had taken him 2–3 months just to gain his first elite monster.

Though in the past, it was still feasible, as the monster awakening cycle wasn’t that aggressive.

But with the Wing Monarch’s involvement, he wasn’t even sure if three unique grades would be sufficient.

He glanced at the last reward, the Trade and Networking Gem.

This was another way to get monsters inside his village, but he wasn’t in a rush to use the gem, as he knew the cost of bringing each monster into the lab space would be astronomical.

Still, it was better—and in many cases, the only way—to gain good monsters for the lab. In the past, he’d invested in a lot of canines.

The second way was based more on mutation and adaptation. But those methods required large numbers of creatures, as many died in the process.

So he had to wait for that.

He shook his head and decided to call it a day.

He had already been in the game for almost 10 hours.

There was still the trade crystal and the entire lab awaiting him. It would be better to deal with them with a fresh mind.

He turned to Weyril and noticed the guy staring down at the rabbits with a massive grin on his face.

’Fck,’ Forsyx cursed internally as he said to Weyril, "For the next two days, no killing."

Weyril looked at him with wide eyes and was about to complain when Forsyx pointed a finger at him. "After two days, I’ll allow you to kill one Whitehorn Rabbit—until the Dire Wolf enters the lab space."

Weyril shook his head. "But I want more. Make it two?"

Forsyx looked straight into his eyes and asked, "Are you all about mindless killing?"

For the first time, Weyril paused. He raised an eyebrow and asked, "What do you mean by mindless killing? Killing is killing. Is there more to it?"

Forsyx just turned around and said in a deep tone, "Just follow my arrangement, and I’ll show you a world beyond this mindless killing."

Weyril shouted after him, "You’re spewing lies! There’s nothing more in killing...!"

Forsyx didn’t bother responding and simply waved his hand. "I’ll see you in a day or two."

Before Weyril could say more, Forsyx said, "Logged out."

In the next second, he disappeared before Weyril.

Weyril kept staring at the spot where Forsyx had vanished, then turned to the monsters.

After staring for a couple of moments, he smiled and flew down toward the grassland.

...

Veyne opened his eyes inside his room.

For the first time, he didn’t feel any discomfort in his body.

He looked at the wall clock—it was still 7 in the evening.

Kind of early compared to his usual time, but he wanted to make this his new norm.

He rolled over toward his phone.

As he unlocked it, he saw dozens of threat messages, along with a few random missed calls.

He was about to put the phone down when he noticed a couple of missed calls from Roonie.

He rubbed his forehead, wondering why Roonie had called him.

Well, it didn’t matter—he wanted to talk to him anyway about his new living plan, so he called Roonie back.

Brrr brrr brr brr.

Not even two rings in, and he heard Roonie’s voice on the other end.[Haha, Veyne! You’re finally out of the game!]

"Yeah, just logged out a moment ago. What happened? Why’d you call?"

[Oh, I just came to the bar. We have to celebrate our new deal, right?]

"You called just for that?"

[What do you mean just for that? It’s very important, you know. By the way, call those roommates of yours. If you have other friends, call them too! Today will be a big celebration.]

Veyne stared at the phone in confusion.

He’d heard from others that Roonie was a party freak.

What he couldn’t understand was why Roonie seemed so excited about this party.

Surely it wasn’t just because they signed a deal... It was a big thing, but not something to celebrate like this...

Wait—don’t tell me it was because of the city incident? But that was nothing more than a small skirmish.

Roonie said again, [Come to the usual bar as soon as possible, okay?]

Veyne stopped trying to guess Roonie’s reasons.

He realized Roonie’s perspective on the world was very different from his own, so there was no point thinking too hard about it.

Instead, he asked, "It’s the Dicaso Bar, right?"

[Yeah.]

"I just came out of the game, so I’ll be there in about an hour."

[Okay! See you at the pub.]

Tak!

With that, Roonie disconnected the call.

The guy really behaved like an excited kid before a party.

He was about to put his phone down when he noticed another missed call from a saved number.

The number triggered some unwanted memories.

He stood there, staring at his mobile phone. As the missed call was from his mother.
