Lethal Stunner: Kicking Off with Five Beast Husbands -
Chapter 69 Do I Look Cunning?
Chapter 69: Chapter 69 Do I Look Cunning?
Li was punished single-handedly by Xiao Jinsheng.
The evening dining atmosphere was significantly quieter.
Shi Xie stayed at home overnight, arranged in the room furthest from Xiao Jinsheng.
That happened to be Mo Jiao’s former room, located opposite Huaiqing’s.
Because Shi Xie’s legs were inconvenient, others had to help tidy up the room.
The group of men certainly wouldn’t let Xiao Jinsheng do such tasks, especially not for a green-tea fish scheming to covet their Female Master.
Yu Yunxiao wasn’t around.
Mo Jiao pretended to be deaf.
Su Ye didn’t even spare Shi Xie a glance.
Li? Needless to say, the fact that he didn’t throw Shi Xie back into the sea was already a blessing.
Que Zelian stared at the tea cup in his hands, unmoving.
Eventually, it was still Huaiqing who stepped forward, smiling at Shi Xie: "The bedrooms are on the second floor; I’ll go help you tidy yours."
"Thank you so much! I think you’re Jinsheng’s most thoughtful Beast Husband," Shi Xie praised sincerely.
Que Zelian frowned slightly, casting a glance at Shi Xie before following Huaiqing upstairs.
"Your attitude toward him seems... odd," Huaiqing remarked, pulling out fresh bedding to make up the bed while hearing Que Zelian’s puzzled words from behind.
"Not just you; even Xiao Jinsheng’s attitude toward him is peculiar," Que Zelian added.
Huaiqing chuckled lightly, "How many Beast Husbands does she have now?"
"Six," Que Zelian replied with a furrowed brow.
"Aren’t you curious about what I said to Xiao Jinsheng just days ago that persuaded her against the divorce?" Huaiqing smiled.
"On the way to find her in the Demon Territory, I awakened the Bai Ze Bloodline while cornered by Fog Corpses. My current Superpower Level allows me to foresee once a month."
Que Zelian was stunned.
That day, Xiao Jinsheng was taken away by Li, and they ventured from Mist West’s outskirts deep inside.
No matter how cautious their approach, encounters with Fog Corpses or Mutant Beasts were inevitable.
During an ambush by Mutant Beasts, the group scattered to evade, and Huaiqing accidentally stumbled into a cluster of Fog Corpses.
When they finally found Huaiqing, his hands were bloodied, surrounded by fallen Fog Corpses.
Seeing Que Zelian and the others who came looking, Huaiqing casually wiped the blood off his glasses and calmly said, "Let’s go find her."
The dangers they encountered along the way—none of the five men ever mentioned such matters to Xiao Jinsheng.
"What did you foresee?" Que Zelian asked.
"Half a month later, the Terminal will announce new rules—a timed competition requiring families to have at least seven Beast Husbands. She currently only has six." Huaiqing shrugged helplessly, laughing.
If it were merely about rule modifications and timed competitions, Que Zelian wouldn’t care much.
But what Huaiqing said next changed his perspective.
"In the prophecy, I saw Bai Yan’s new Beast Husband, Xi Qu. They took first place and received the Terminal’s mysterious reward," Huaiqing added.
"Understood." Que Zelian nodded.
The hatred between Xiao Jinsheng and Bai Yan had long escalated beyond mere verbal spats or hair-pulling clashes.
The matter of Bai Yan altering Xiao Jinsheng’s memories from the past decade hadn’t yet been settled.
Even if Xiao Jinsheng didn’t seek revenge on Bai Yan, Que Zelian wouldn’t let Bai Yan off the hook.
Besides, Que Zelian knew Xiao Jinsheng well: if winning first place could inflict retribution upon Bai Yan, Xiao Jinsheng would undoubtedly compete.
"That guy seems deeply manipulative, and his Superpower is stronger than ours. What if he becomes a threat to Xiao Jinsheng?" Que Zelian expressed concern.
"Ten Stars, that’s all. Don’t we have a Ten-Star guy over here claiming he’s her main husband?" Huaiqing chuckled lightly.
Que Zelian: ...
Thinking of Li, who antagonized everyone and seemed eager to throw out Xiao Jinsheng’s original five Beast Husbands, while defensively guarding against Shi Xie’s every move, Que Zelian’s worries instantly diminished.
If Shi Xie really had malevolent intentions, he better defeat Li first.
"You shouldn’t have awakened the Bai Ze Bloodline," Que Zelian remarked before leaving.
"Then what should I have awakened?" Huaiqing asked.
"A fox." Que Zelian threw out those two words and walked away.
Adjusting his glasses, Huaiqing stared at his reflection in the window’s glass, murmuring in doubt, "Do I look manipulative?"
After dinner, Xiao Jinsheng maintained her perfect composure, offering individual face-to-face goodnights.
Seizing the moment, she bolted upstairs as soon as Li on the first floor became distracted with his glass of water.
She had just opened her bedroom door when she smashed headfirst into Li’s chest.
"Trying to run?" Li wrapped his arm around her waist, pulling her firmly into his arms.
"Weren’t you just downstairs?" Xiao Jinsheng groaned in despair, painfully reminded that Li could teleport.
Li didn’t waste words; he simply hoisted her up and carried her straight to his room.
He let her down on the luxurious diamond-beaded bed, leaning over her.
Xiao Jinsheng quickly raised her hands to push against his chest: "We just finished eating!"
"And when you pinched me, were you thinking about the food then?" Li sneered.
Xiao Jinsheng was mortified.
Li was so outraged by Shi Xie earlier that even she couldn’t calm him down.
She had no choice but to intervene physically, which was a bittersweet experience only she knew firsthand.
To prevent her from escaping, Li brought her into his Domain—a world resonating with the sound of hot springs, streaked by meteors crossing overhead.
The next morning, Xiao Jinsheng chose to wrap herself from head to toe, buttoning her shirt all the way to its topmost clasp.
She applied foundation to cover the marks on her neck but found the faint pink hue still visible after layering again and again.
Frustrated, she turned and hurled a pillow at Li, who was lounging in bed, pulling him out of the covers and shaking him violently: "Didn’t I tell you not to leave marks in obvious places!"
"It’s not obvious at all," Li replied, confused, as he looped her long hair around her neck like a scarf. "There, it’s all covered now."
"What good does that do? There are so many people outside; how am I supposed to go out today?" Xiao Jinsheng snapped.
"Why wouldn’t you go out?" Li wrapped his arms casually around her waist, pulling her close, and whispered teasingly in her ear: "Last night, when I carried you into this room, weren’t they all aware?"
"So scared of being exposed, huh?" Li’s mocking lips curled, his fingers tracing from her face to her neck. "I’m your main husband, not some secret lover sneaking around with you."
"You’re getting more arrogant by the day," Xiao Jinsheng narrowed her eyes, reached out, and pinched his ear fiercely.
"Alright, alright, I’ve hidden it! The marks are gone!" Li surrendered with his hands raised.
Examining the mirror again, Xiao Jinsheng realized the red marks had indeed vanished.
"That’s better." Before leaving, Xiao Jinsheng deliberately circled back to the bedside, giving Li’s face a playful rub.
"It’s only 8:30 a.m.—where are you going?" Li called after her.
"Sword technique practice; starts at 9. I’m getting breakfast first," Xiao Jinsheng replied.
She had barely stepped out of Li’s room, taking only a few steps past Que Zelian’s door, when someone inside abruptly pulled her in.
"Que... mmph..."
A forceful kiss swallowed all her words.
Xiao Jinsheng looked up and found herself staring into Que Zelian’s deep, aggrieved amber-red eyes.
As the lingering kiss ended, Xiao Jinsheng sat on Que Zelian’s floating cloud mist, leaning against his chest to catch her breath. Her face was then gently pinched by a large hand, forcing her gaze upward.
"You slept with me first," Que Zelian’s hazel-colored eyes glimmered faintly with discontent as his voice rumbled: "How long have you been neglecting me?"
"Well, I’m looking for you now," Xiao Jinsheng responded evasively, avoiding his gaze.
Que Zelian chuckled softly and refrained from exposing her, only posing the inevitable question usually asked during dinner: "Then who will you sleep with tonight?"
