Chapter 70: Chapter 70: She Doesn’t Like Men Who Are Too Scheming
"Follow you, follow you, follow you~" Xiao Jinsheng answered repeatedly.
She looked at Que Zelian’s joyful, upturned lips and added, "If nothing unexpected happens."
"I won’t let any surprises happen," Que Zelian said.
The only one who could interfere with him was Li.
If he made things difficult for Li, Li wouldn’t have the energy to bother Xiao Jinsheng.
Breakfast today was fishball noodle soup.
Xiao Jinsheng tasted the fresh, springy fishballs and looked at Huaiqing in surprise. "You made the fishballs from scratch this morning?"
"I didn’t make breakfast today," Huaiqing replied with a smile.
Shi Xie, sitting nearby, apologized and said, "It was me. Sorry for using your ingredients without permission."
"I’ve been injured and staying here, causing you too much trouble, so I wanted to do something within my power."
"Do mermaids eat fish?" Xiao Jinsheng asked curiously.
Shi Xie replied with a smile, "Of course, we do."
After all, in the sea, fish are abundant resources.
Big fish eat small fish, small fish eat shrimp.
When Li came downstairs, his originally smiling lips instantly drooped upon seeing Shi Xie still present.
"Why haven’t you left yet?" Li asked impatiently.
"Yu Yunxiao hasn’t finished leveling up yet," Su Ye replied.
"Even after giving him all those Star Stones, he still hasn’t upgraded?" Li grumbled and then was about to head upstairs to find Yu Yunxiao.
Just then, Yu Yunxiao flipped over and directly leaped down from the second floor, exclaiming excitedly, "I’ve reached Six Stars! I’ve reached Six Stars!"
"Heal him," Li followed quickly, pointing at Shi Xie. "Fix him up and get him out of here."
"Alright," Yu Yunxiao, surprisingly obliging towards the generous provider of Six Stars Star Stones, responded.
A warm, healing superpower enveloped Shi Xie’s legs. Fifteen minutes later, Yu Yunxiao withdrew his hand and said to Shi Xie, "Stand up. Walk a few steps."
Xiao Jinsheng, curious about the effect of the healing superpower, watched Shi Xie intently without blinking.
Shi Xie stood up in response, his legs moving freely, with no trace of the limp he had fifteen minutes ago.
"As expected of me, the Divine Healer!" Yu Yunxiao boasted.
"Hurry up and leave," Li said bluntly, opening the door and urging Shi Xie.
Shi Xie pressed his right fist to his left chest and bowed slightly to Xiao Jinsheng with a smile. "I troubled you all yesterday. Now that I’m healed, I should indeed take my leave."
"To express my gratitude and appreciation for your care," Shi Xie looked at Xiao Jinsheng with a smile in his icy blue eyes, "I’ve brought a gift for you. I hope you’ll accept it."
Receiving Xiao Jinsheng’s puzzled gaze, Shi Xie raised his hand, revealing an ice-blue ring that materialized at the center of a swirling vortex in his palm.
Suddenly, Shi Xie knelt on one knee before Xiao Jinsheng, holding the ring and speaking with deep affection, "This gift is me."
Su Ye turned to the kitchen knife rack to fetch Shi Xie’s "travel expense."
Mo Jiao’s figure was shrouded in black mist, his purple eyes glaring at Shi Xie filled with killing intent.
Li wasn’t as subtle. In one swift motion, he darted forward and kicked at Shi Xie, shouting, "Get lost!"
Shi Xie followed the force of the kick and crashed headfirst into the wall with a loud "thud." His eyes rolled back, and he fainted.
"I didn’t even land my kick on him!" Li hastily explained, pointing at Shi Xie, "He doesn’t even have any footprints on him."
"Calm down," Xiao Jinsheng said while holding onto Li’s hand tightly.
Yu Yunxiao was called back to heal Shi Xie once again.
"He has a concussion. There’s nothing I can do for that. He can just wait for death," Yu Yunxiao said.
Compared to the first treatment, now knowing Shi Xie’s intent toward Xiao Jinsheng, Yu Yunxiao wore a grim expression, his cat ears flattening into airplane ears.
It was already annoying to practice medicine, and now he had to treat someone who was trying to steal Xiao Jinsheng away.
"It’s better to heal him. We can’t let someone die in the house," Huaiqing advised.
Even Que Zelian spoke up, "Heal him a bit; at least wait until he’s awake before throwing him out."
Su Ye shot Que Zelian a glance of disapproval.
Xiao Jinsheng chimed in, "I originally planned to tell him the whereabouts of the Ice Sea Flower, but now he’s passed out in the house, so I’m clearly at fault."
Saying this, she looked at Li as though she wanted to warn him, but upon meeting Li’s innocent and hurt red eyes, her resolve softened: "When he wakes up, you’re not allowed to hit him again."
"I didn’t even touch him twice," Li exclaimed, feeling that even if his body were covered in mouths, he wouldn’t be able to explain himself.
This dead fish, who had fought over territory with him on the Mist West, blowing up mountains and seas, now seemed so fragile, fainting merely from hitting the wall.
"I really can’t heal him," Yu Yunxiao said helplessly. "It’s not a bias against him; his head is genuinely too injured for my current Superpower Level."
"How many Stars would it take?" Li asked.
"Seven Stars," Yu Yunxiao replied.
Familiar words, familiar scenario.
Sure enough, Li threw out several boxes of Seven Stars Star Stones again.
He proclaimed domineeringly, "Upgrade. Heal him so he can get lost."
"The production team’s donkey doesn’t even upgrade like this," Yu Yunxiao muttered, feeling nauseated at the sight of Star Stones.
"I’ll provide all your resources for leveling up in the future. Heal him so he can leave," Li promised.
Yu Yunxiao’s eyes instantly lit up.
He carried the boxes upstairs, not forgetting to take his bowl of fishball noodles from the dining table.
Soon, Yu Yunxiao finished setting up the Star Stones, returned with his bowl of noodles and asked, "Wasn’t today supposed to be a mission at the Mist West? Aren’t you taking me along?"
"Of course, we’re taking you," Li said, suddenly coming up with a good idea.
He planned to have Yu Yunxiao absorb Star Stones directly in Xiao Jinsheng’s space.
This way, they wouldn’t delay their Terminal quest, and the Mist West was closer to the sea. Once Yu Yunxiao’s superpower reached 7 Stars, he could heal Shi Xie.
Then he could personally toss the fish back into the ocean.
Li’s suggestion remarkably received both Mo Jiao and Su Ye’s unanimous approval.
Yu Yunxiao also agreed; he no longer wanted to heal this trash fish trying to steal Xiao Jinsheng away.
If they could throw him back into the ocean, then let’s do it quickly.
Shi Xie slowly woke from unconsciousness, only to find himself seated in the passenger’s side.
The driver was none other than Su Ye.
Shi Xie glanced back; Que Zelian and Huaiqing were sitting in the back seat.
He chuckled, "May I ask where we’re headed?"
"Dump a corpse," Su Ye shot him a cold glare, stomped on the gas pedal, and added, "Kill a fish."
In the face of their intimidation, Shi Xie maintained his smile and even turned to Huaiqing, "Why don’t I see Jinsheng?"
"Does killing a fish require her to do it personally?" Su Ye answered coldly.
"You’re so aggressive. Jinsheng must be afraid of you," Shi Xie said with a smile directed at him.
The car swerved onto a road without guardrails, heading straight toward a cliff, with half its front wheels suspended over the abyss.
Su Ye hit the brakes, turning to glare at Shi Xie with his cold, golden eyes.
Shi Xie chuckled lightly, his gaze sweeping from Su Ye to Huaiqing and Que Zelian in the back seat. He glanced out the window at the fog-covered cliff that looked like a deep, predatory beast: "If the four of us die here, I wonder who Jinsheng would grieve for the most."
"You’re asking for it!" Su Ye snarled, raising his hand to attack, only to be held back by Que Zelian. "You step out. I’ll drive."
Su Ye stayed still.
"Xiao Jinsheng’s group is in the car up front. If they wait too long without us showing up, they’ll have to waste time coming back," Que Zelian reminded.
With that, Su Ye moved to action, reversing the car back onto the main road, opening the door, and moving to the back seat.
The driver’s seat was now occupied by Que Zelian. Shi Xie tilted his head toward him and said, "Among Jinsheng’s Beast Husbands, I’ve noticed she trusts you the most. Her relationship with you seems better than all the others."
Que Zelian stared straight ahead, not sparing him a glance, merely responding, "How she feels about me doesn’t need to be explained to outsiders."
"But as for her..." Que Zelian finally turned his gaze, his golden eyes sweeping across Shi Xie, "She doesn’t like men who are overly cunning and pretend to be innocent."
Shi Xie’s smile froze on his lips.
